what's the aspect ratio/dimensions of an HTC desire wallpaper?

I thought it would be the same as the screen resolution which is 800x480, but it turns out you can move screens left and right and the wallpaper accounts for that.

So what really is the exact size of an HTC Desire's wallpaper?

I know for sure the height is 800, and that the width is greater than 480, but what exactly? I need to know so I can crop my desktop wallpapers to the proper sizes.
