I agree with the above that Handcent SMS is good, however it doeant display contacts from my SIM Card, all my contacts are on sim, have any of you guys found a way of displaying contacts from SIM rather than Phone, i know you can import contacts but dont want to do that.

    Thanks

Handcent, by far I have used chomp smspop up and the regular messaging app and Handcent is the best by far! I wish they would come out with a nicer widget tho!

I switched from Handcent to Chomp. Handcent is far too laggy once you have more than a few texts saved, plus it makes the keyboard lag all the time.

Don't find that at all, and I have about 1600 messages saved. No keyboard lag at all in portrait mode, it does slow up a bit compared to the stock app in landscape mode though

Handcent may be my least favorite app thus far. I find it to be a laggy resource hog so it got the boot. The OEM is much better IMO. Not a fan of Chomp either so I'll wait until Handcent is improved or something new comes along.

I like a lot of the features handcent has, but I have had issues. last night I saw a lot of messages say sent in handcent, and not even show up in the default sms app and they were never sent. I had retype these because handcent thought they went through. I also noticed some slow down with it. I sent a lot of messages everyday and it takes a slight bit longer for the messages to go out. I have gone back to oem app and am happy. I almost with an app would come out to just simply allowed splitting sms for vzw that go over 160 in the oem app, and allow theming of it somehow. I would be happy with just that. Its all I used in handcent mostly.
