    Hello all,

I'm new to the smartphone realm, and I'm glad the Samsung Captivate was my first one. I chose Android over Apple for the simple reason that it's open-source. I chose the Captivate for its giant AMOLED screen (which, even on the lowest brightness setting, is still very bright).

I recently rooted my phone, but am still hesitant to start entering lines of code via cmd - for example, the ability to search for apps of T-Mobile's market. I'm definitely on board with Titanium Backup though!

I've already posted a thread stating this, but I was born with a genetic retinal defect, so I'm "legally blind." My biggest concern is still the ability to access all apps in a comfortable manner. I wish there was a simple magnification app; it would make my life sooo much better. I have QuickOffice, but I can't read the screen without getting a headache. I'm sure Open folk will get there.

I would just go ahead and write the program myself, but I'm not smart enough.

So, that's me. Look forward this forum.

    Also, What is a ROM?
