I want to back up all the free and paid apps in my Moto Droid, but can't seem to find where they're located using Astro.

Are they in the phone memory? On the SD card? Regardless, I can't find any of them.

I heard that Astro was able to do this, but I cannot find them either.

Click the Menu/Settings Button, then tools, then Application Manager/Backup.

From there just select the apps to backup (or click the top check box to select them all), and then click the button that says "Backup" ... note the two tabs at the top are a bit confusing, the screen that says "Installed Apps" is where it lists your current apps and you can back them up, whereas the one that says "Backed Up Apps" is where you would reinstall apps you have already backed up.

Thanks for that info. The one place I didn't look.

Now, I have some apps that say (private) where the check box should be. Does this mean that I am unable to back these up at all? And also, does this mean that I would have to manually download them if needed?

Check out appbrain.com. I don't know if it will backup the private apps, but it's worth a try.

    From Astro's site:

So yeah, I personally don't know of anything that can back that up, but maybe if you're rooted (which I'm not so sorry can't be of any help there).

Yea, I probably should have checked out their site first. LOL. Thanks for the help.

Get Titanium Backup - will back up apps, public and private, and will also back up (and restore) their market data so that when you restore them they will be properly linked and show up in your Downloads list in Marketplace.

That's for root only users. If I ever decide to root, I'll keep it in mind, but I'm not quite ready to root yet.

    Thanks for the info.
