    in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx i can play them directly with VLC. (ubuntu-restricted packages are installed)

    If I call correctly Galaxy saves the videos in h263 and audio in AMR. The second one is a big issue since AMR isn't GPL codec and VLC doesn't have it by default (VLC uses it's own codecs and doesn't use the one you install on your PC). Some 4-5 months ago I had a project which required a working VLC with AMR support for windows. I spilled my guts to make it work. Four days of cross compiling. Anyways, I've saved VLC which has AMR support on my server. You can download it from there:

    EDIT: You could just try copying the libavcodec_plugin.dll into your VLC if you have a newer version of VLC (1.0+). But backup your old .dll. That's how we used it back then, only the dll was required.

    i never checked but with k-lite codec pack standard installed, it plays them on the bundled media player classic (highly recommended) while vlc wouldn't play them.
