Just got my nexus a couple of days ago. Noticed it's lifted on the left side of the screen (feels 'spongy' like it's not glued down right). I found a lot of people screwed the screws tighter after removing the back panel; it works for some but not for others.
My issue is whether or not this lift will lead to the screen being more susceptible to cracking??
I found a comment in a thread about screen cracks (here:
Oops! - Dropped and cracked Nexus 7 Screen - SOL? - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com)
that said: (relevant bits underlined by me)
"This seems to be happening quite a bit.
My screen cracked on my Nexus 7 after 5 days. I didn't drop it or anything. It was even in a silicone skin and had a screen protector on it. But it still cracked from one side to the other. I googled "Nexus 7 Screen Crack" and noticed several posts about the
screen coming "Unglued" or lifting from the chasis in the middle of the tablet on the left side.
Upon checking mine, I noticed it was lifted and the crack was located just below the lift of the glass. I've since sent it to Asus and am waiting a response on repair and if it will be covered as a manufacturer defect. When speaking to the Asus rep, he said he had not heard anything about the glass lifting in the middle of the tablet. I told him to google it and check it out. They've had the tablet for 3 days now and still waiting to hear from the repair tech."
--> in this case, i don't know if the lift led to the crack or the crack led to the lift??
But I am concerned that lift may lead to cracks. I have never owned a tablet before and don't own any other 'fancy' devices (smartphones, laptops etc).
Are construction issues like this fairly common in electronic devices generally speaking?
