Hi Guys, i'm an Android noob but willing to change that, actually i'm starting with developping apps for Android. I have actually the HTC Hero.

As you all know, the Hero will get the Android 2.1 (rumors) about 26.04.2125, well, and that sucks, because i'll be dead by then.

If i have correctly understood, HTC has customized Android with Sense UI and now they have to customize Google's most recent release and that's what takes time... (->how's it possible then that HTC Desire has Android 2.1 AND Sense UI? -> maybe i have misunderstood something...)

Well Android is great and i love it, but i don't always want to wait for an update for my phone, which was released 2 years ago.

Therefore i want to know if for example for the Nexus One (which does not contain Sense UI) it would be possible to get an OS update when Google releases it. -> Would it be possible to get Android Updates directly from Google? (because google develops incredibly fast)

Also have i heard rumors saing that Google will split up system parts apart from Android 2.2 so you can update different parts of the OS over the market, is that true? And from that point of view, would it be worth just waiting for the first phone that comes with Android 2.2?

Sorry to me fail english:D, but i hope you guys undestand my questions.

Or has anybody heard of an Android phone which was released initially with android < 2.x and already has got the update to android >= 2.0? That would be interesting, because it could be possible that not only Hero users are in this update disaster. Are there any android phones out there which are recieving android OS updates faster then others?
Ok that updating-android-over-the-market-thing seems not to be true, i think somebody has confused the autoupdate feature for applications (but not for OS). Sorry for that.

Updates are pushed to your phone via your carrier. When they modify the OS to work with the phone and their network and (supposedly ) test it then it gets pushed. As far as being able to update from the market things like Maps will be upgraded through the market it is their goal to break off different parts of the OS like messaging so that these could be updated through the market.

N1's OTA updates aren't pushed by carriers, so no.
