Unless I am having a specific, measurable problem I completely discount those speed tests as they are useless.
Case in point: I ran the test once about 4 months ago believing I had a problem when I was streaming some music via Rhapsody.
So, I loaded a new song and with system panel lite in the background I switched to it as the Rhap client was loading the song. I saw well over 2mb/sec throughout the song download and then of course it tapered off.
I went back to the speed test site with all streaming off and re-ran the test. I never saw above 500-700kb/sec. To me that means a network congesting issue off of Ericsson's network or an issue with the overhead related to http sockets. Perhaps there's a performance trade off with a handset and network connections.
I re-ran the Rhapsody test over and over again and always saw it peak above 2mb and sometimes 3 mb/sec.
I just don't see the speed tests as a reliable indicator at all.
