I can't put any icons or widgets right under the Google search bar. I feel like I'm wasting a ton of space on the homescreen. Is there any way to make it so the grid that tells you were you can put icons / widgets less restrictive. Right now I can only put 1 row of icons under the "Weather and Flip Clock" widget

hahah, awesome! I have the same question!

I don't mind at all, but it's just weird that we can't get those icons so close!

I'm afraid this is not possible ,

The screen is split into a type of square grids , the search widget is slightly slimmer than what is used to be and widgets so it doesn't take up that full square height wise.

Hence causing the effect of any icons or widgets underneath it to look like it's got a big gap in-between them. Unfortunately this is across all android devices with the Box {android 1.6 and higher}....

Looks lie we'll just have to live with it unless Google thickens the box....

boo. that's a complete waste of a 1/4 of the home screen.

I may be wrong, but I think it is to ensure that things stay aligned when the home screen is viewed in landscape orientation (which can only be done with the keyboard open).

If you look at your home screen in landscape orientation, I think you'll realize that there wouldn't be enough room to add another row.

the search bar on the home screen is redundant. I trashed it cause you can get the same function using the bottom right button.

    Get rid of it.....

I guess this explains the "not enough room" prompt I've been getting. Where did you find the Weather and Flip Clock widget? I don't see it listed on the widgets. TIA!

You can download it from the Market on an app called "Weather widget Donate" :)

It gives you that neat HTC Hero clock :D
