It was just pointed out to me that some people buy gadgets or phones based on the hype surrounding them.

Personally, I have a hard time even grasping the concept that someone would do that.

When hype is a motivating factor in your buying decision, is it because people will think you are cool or wealthy because you have the latest stuff? Do people really do things because it will make people think they are cool or wealthy? If so, are those people still in high-school?

Edit: You saw it here folks - I just officially coined a new prase: Gynecological Magnetism.

For the applications. Had that been an option... that's what I would have chosen.

Dang - I intended for apps to be covered by capabilities.

Unfortunately that's not an option, since he was only concentrating on continuing a childish argument from a thread that Shivers closed, after requesting they cool it.

    But, Imma go with B.

Actually, that's not true - I really am curious how many people buy based on hype. I said that in the thread and I really meant it.

I don't want you guys to think I'm a trouble maker. I really found the situation puzzling.

Ok. The wording in the body could have been chosen with a little more tact, considering the thread that just got closed - but I'll take your word for it.

Well, yeah, I have trouble with tact sometimes, per our previous PM conversation.

I'm not used to forums that regular people go to, but I recognize your desire to make a place that 'normal' people would want to use.

Gynecological magnetism? I'm not super feminist or anything, but that option would fail to apply to me, seeing as how I'm a- a woman and b- not interested in any vaginas other than mine...

That IS a tight term, though.

You don't have to match every part of the option for it to apply :)

Its pure capability potential for me. If it can do something useful for me, and that usefulness outweighs any other kind of disadvantage (read: usually a physical design flaw/issue or cost), then sign me up. The thrill of having your hands on something early in its development is definitely a bonus though. And while I do not seek out gadgets solely for their exclusivity, there is something to be said for not being an iPhone/RAZR -loving clone.
