As of right now, I'm in the same boat of keeping my current EVO. But I think the logical thing thing to do (for current EVO owners that love the current EVO) would be to watch all the reviews and hands-on demonstrations, prior to making a decision on an upgrade. Anything could happen from now until release. Great thing is, there's still a lot of time to think it over, but it's a great luxury to actually have the option.
Even prior to the original EVO, I was watching reviews and reading as many articles as possible, prior to deciding whether or not to buy it. At that time, I owned a Windows Mobile phone (HTC Touch Pro) and was skeptical about moving over to a non-qwerty keyboard. On top of that, I was trying to gain as much knowledge about Android OS over Windows Mobile...learning curve...pros and cons...etc. I was still on the fence, even AFTER doing the pre-order at Best Buy. But considering how many issues I was having with my Touch Pro (had to get it replaced a week before the EVO was released), I figured enough was enough and it was time to change my phone. Even though my current EVO has gotten slightly laggy (w/ all the apps I installed and using LPP), I STILL love it and am not fed up with it at all, as compared to how I was after a year owning the Touch Pro.
Some places say a "case" w/ a kickstand will be avaialble, but the article says that it's a "prototype back cover," which tells me that it's a different battery door all together. I'm hoping that, if true, the replacement battery door/cover is either on the production model or available for purchase as a separate accessory.
