So I waited after the Evo launch to see what everyone had to say about the phone. I went and pre-ordered the phone the very next day at my local best buy and was told it was the last day to do a pre-order. They then told me that I'll have to wait till Saturday for a phone and they will call me sometime during the week to set up an appointment to pick up my phone.

I never received a call, so I called them to make an appointment. They could not find my pre-order (oh before I forget, you had to put $50 down to pre-order). The lady I spoke with said she'll continue to look and give me a call back in about 10 minutes. I was really understanding cause things do get misplaced sometimes.

Of course I never got a call back after waiting 2 hours:mad: So I called them back again to see what the deal was. They found my pre-order but told me they do not have a phone for me and that they have no idea when they will be getting more. I drove to the store and talked to one of the managers.

He told me the best thing he could do is give me a call by the end of the day. Ya like I haven't heard that one before. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. I told him to give me my money back because if you guys are gonna be giving me problems before I even buy the damn thing I can't even imagine the bullshit I'd have to go through after you already got my money.

So I went to Radio Shack and pre-ordered one and was told it will come in with in 5 business days. We'll see about that. I don't mind having to wait it

Yeah probably one of the employees took yours or sold it to his buddies. I am sure this is going on for any new hot item.
I was told employees are suppose to wait till end of the month or first of July but if you go to most of these stores all the employees already got theirs.

Good luck....alot of them have light leakage, and some other build quality issues....however its pretty hard to really inspect it because they come in a sealed bag. You might be better off waiting for the next wave of phone any way...

To the previous poster, that is so BS. Yes a few problems. But to claim most of them have issues is an utter lie.

To the OP, what happens when you wait. Don't like it, don't wait next time.

A lot of us BB employees have them because we got pissed off and went to RS. Our district is being very strict about the no employee sales. I preordered the first day and two weeks later, they said we couldn't buy them till the end of june.

I got the same bull from BB too. I was supposed to get the phone thursday. I go there and they tell me my phone never came. The funny thing is that on Saturday, I was called to be reminded that my phone came in. I call BB today and now they tell me that I may not get my phone until Monday. I am so angry about this.

Ahaha same thing happened to me so I've determined that from now on all my pre orders will be done at radioshack and all accessories will be from BB. I can only imagine you were just as mad as I was when you found out your pre order would not be valid. Whats the point of pre ordering if they have you not able to get it till the end of june

My assistant manager had a pre order for the EVO for June 4th. No one came that day or the next day so we had an extra EVO in stock, which we sold on that Monday. Thursday comes around and the guy who pre orders comes in still expecting us to have had his EVO, and does not have his $50 dollar gift card. So while customers may experience rude employees, employees may also experience rude customers who expect us to go above and beyond for them.

No offense, but when I pre-order a video game, and I can't come in on launch day, they still have it on hold for me.. it's called a pre-order, and my life doesn't revolve around their schedule, or I'd be at the store first in line when they open to get it. Furthermore, I didn't have my best buy card with me either. Do you know why? YOU DON'T NEED IT! They specifically tell you that you can spend the card on something else in the store, and that it's only a means of paying them money to know you're serious. I paid full price for my phone when I picked it up, as my card was already spend on Blu-Ray movies.

I'd hardly consider your story to be a good example of a customer being rude, so much as he was just utilizing a program that was built the way he used it.

I also work at bestbuy, you are required to hold pre-order EVO's for 14 days after the release date. On the 15th day, the phone is on the shelf, and the customer is out the $50.

    yay 1st post.

What? You aren't out the $50. The customer purchases a $50 gift card to "reserve" an EVO, they can use it towards the phone or to buy something else. The $50 gift card doesn't become null and void if they change their mind on the EVO.

Very true, +1. I was told the same thing. If I didn't want the phone, I kept the gift card. Money is money, and that's all the card amounts to.

I might have read his post wrong...but now that i go back and read mine, it didn't make sense. haha.

You two are correct. I guess I misunderstood his comment. The giftcard is his regardless. I don't know why they only gave the guy a few days to get his phone. =\

If it were me, I would be there before the store opened, but not everyone is as much as a geek as I am.

you didn't pay $50 bucks to get it saturday just FYI, the 50 went toward the phone so you would have one next shipment you were available for... that is how it works you might have been wave 2 or 3

Not all stores will hold pre order items for long. I know RadioShack only allowed two days for pre orders. It even said in your receipt that if you didn't pick up by the end of the second day it was going back on the shelf. We even did this at the game store I worked at afew years back but games are usually stocked better then cell phones due to the way the process them. Either way they should have held it for him or gave him an idea of which days he had to pick it up.

They did this at RadioShack too. I just don't understand why you wouldn't want your people to have them. The best promotion for these things come from the people who use them.:D Most people don't understand what they can do with these things. They just know they need a new phone but when your like did you know you could do this thats when the light goes on for the customer as in WOW that would make my day easier.

I had a fantastic experience over at Best Buy in Sugar Land, TX.

It sucks that some sales people would ruin the experience for BB's customers like they ruined yours. But there are great customer reps too.

That is about the experience you now have to expect from Best Buy. That company has gone to hell. Finding an employee that knows his ass from a hole in the ground is becoming increasingly difficult, there are never enough employees to cover the entire sales floor, and they seem to care less and less about providing a reasonable level of customer service. The one redeeming quality they had was that they usually had a handful of really knowledgeable employees and the staff in Magnolia Home Theater was great for talking home audio and video. Then they capped hourly employees at $12/hr and all of the talent left. Now the guy/gal standing between you and your expensive technology/electronics purchase is only slightly overqualified for bagging groceries. Magnolia has become so watered down offering the same level of service as the rest of the home theater space, which is mediocre on a good day.

Sorry for the rant, but Best Buy is the new Wal-Mart offering nothing more than low prices (and even those aren't that great) as a reason to shop there.
