Tips Why use the Google Search widget instead of the standard "Search" button?

    I'm curious why anyone would use the Google Search box (and take up that homescreen space) when all you have to do is press the magnifying glass for the same feature (and on any homescreen, without having to scroll back to the widget). A long-press opens voice search, so I see no benefit in even using the widget at all.

    agreed. i never have used that search box on my home screens, and never will.

    Also a lot of people don't realize you can search contacts that way also. Example- say "John Smith" and it will give you the option to call him. Is nice when you're driving.

    I use the search button. Realize we represent a very small percentage of phone owners that actually figure this stuff out.....the majority need simplistic features such as a search widget.
