Has anyone heard any ideas about upcoming widget releases or how they would be downloaded?

    offered through the market?
    sent through updates?

I'd like to see a google reader widget, or maybe i wouldn't....i'm not sure, but i know i'd like to see something, i just need someone to tell me.

Yeah, has anyone heard about this?

It would be nice, for example, if there was a weather widget that put the current temp on your home screen. A calendar widget showing your next appointment would be good too.

    Any word?

A google developer told me recently that you can't create 3rd-party widgets yet. It should be coming soon. When, the developer couldn't tell me..

patience young androiders. As much as you would like to imagine that the possibilities of the android is limitless, developers are actually bounded by alot of restrictions in terms of what we have access to or not. I wish i could just draw on a piece of paper what I want a program to do and give it to the computer and say, "here! make it happen." And as far as widgets go... its just simply not in the SDK yet. It will be out with the next version of the SDK...

It was hard to move over to android from windows mobile just because the calendar on the home screen of windows mobile had the next appointment right on it. A widget that would accomplish this would be huge and I think would help a lot of people. The To Do apps out there arent that great.
