I want to download a WiFi Toggle On/Off App on my Sprint HTC Hero.

I assume this will save battery power.

    Correct?

This will save battery power because when it's toggled off, it won't waste power searching for available WiFi networks when I don't need to be looking for them.

    Correct?

I can go into Menu, Settings, blah, blah, blah (so many steps) to change my settings to turn this on and off.

So, there's Apps on the Android Market that can be downloaded to have a WiFi - On and Off - toggle switch.

I went to the Android Market and there were so many!

    Question

What is the most recommended - simple - practical - no bells and whistles - most reliable - absolutely best that nobody beats it - WiFi - On and Off - Toggle switch?

I see this one from Curvefish is quite popular:

WiFi OnOff v1.2.1 Application for Android | Tools

Is this one the most recommended?

pretty sure htc hero has one by default if you're using sense UI. did you look under the widgets you currently have?

I don't see a shortcut icon or widget, under HTC Widgets or Android Widgets.

Seems like I'm going to have to download one.

Still looking for a recommendation or comments, otherwise, I'll download the curveflash one I noted above.

Yeah that's the one that I'm using and it works fine. I swear though that it's in the HTC sense UI. I was playing with one yesterday and it had it (and widgets for other things such as GPS, vibrate, etc.)

I'll check again. I'm using the Sprint HTC Hero, so, if you could provide the steps. i.e.

    Menu --> Settings --> etc.

Or, I could post this in the Sprint HTC Hero forum.

Widgetsoid can do everything you want to do plus a lot more. I use it to turn on/off wifi, gps, mobile data, keyguard, bt, sync, etc.
