Anybody having issues with the Droid X's wifi?

I tried connecting it to my router through N. My router was basically on auto settings 11bgn mixed, auto channel width, and auto security.

But this basically gives me no internet connection at all on my Droid X. The Droid X simply switches over to WiFi for internet, which it's getting no access to, which is making wifi essentially useless for me. I turn off WiFi, and voila, internet through 3G again.

So I read up on the problem with AES encryption? This means I had to use TKIP encryption, but wireless N doesn't work with TKIP, meaning I have to use wireless G, essentially making my N speeds useless, although in reality my internet speeds aren't going over the max 54mbps G speeds offers, but I'd still like my router to be able to transmit N speeds to my computers.

Anyway, even switching to wireless G and TKIP encryption, it works sometimes, but then intermittently it will stop working. I don't change anything, it just stops working. This doesn't happen with other laptops connected to my router, or other phones even as I had a Droid Incredible before.

What's up with this wifi issue?

I usually use my 3g for internet for the same reasons. Disappointing that one has to resort to 3g on a phone with WiFi. My Incredible has great WiFi reception sitting right next to my X.

What brand access point/wireless router are you using?

Based on a non-scientific bit of anecdotal evidence collected, it seems like the DX works better with some routers and not with others. It also seems to work better in certain configurations than in others.

Personally, my DX is connecting successfully to a Cisco Aironet 1142 access point running Wireless-N/WP2 AES. I've also connected successfully to a Cisco Aironet 1131 access point running Wireless-G/WP2 AES and a Linksys WRT610N wireless router running Wireless-N/WP2 AES.

It's not the router. I've used my X with over 6 different routers - same result everytime. Just loses connection frequently. After a while, one just prefers to use 3g even if it is slower.

In any case, there is a "bug" or issue with WiFi connections with this phone. My Inc has much better WiFi consistency.

Well if it's not the router than maybe my DX must be broken. My DX connects and functions flawlessly with either of my two Cisco access points (and the Linksys AP before them). The only issue I have is that once or twice a week the wifi signal drops for no reason. The rest of the week, however, it's rock solid!
