I'm thinking of getting a friend in the us to order me a tmobile nexus one and then they mail it to me instead of waiting for vodafone.

Will the phone work on t-mo uk? Will it assume im in a foreign country and charge me for foreign use of phone and text? Will this even get around the VAT?

Your friend can't order you a T-Mobile handset without entering a contract with them, so this is a bit of a non-starter.

Whatever I can do to pay for more phones

Well lets try to start it up again. I do believe the T-Mobile version also carries the 3g frequencies necessary for the UK. So your friend can pay the no contract price and ship it to you. I have a feeling it may be coming soon for your neck of the world. I know its hard to wait though.

You can do it that way, but it'll just cost you the same as if you order it direct from google (after etf etc). You won't get around VAT, and the delivery will probably cost you more if you use UPS/DHL/Fedex than the google delivery charge,

It seems like a crazy way to do it tbh, unless there's something else to it :-/

Huh? Why not just buy the phone out of a contract and then get a T-mobile sim? It will be cheaper and you wont be locked into anything.
