Not only will you need the USB drivers for your DROID, but you will also need to install the Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device drivers. These are not native to WinXP SP3 or older. Once those drivers are installed, wired tethering is as easy as plugging in the USB cable and firing up the 'Wired Tether for Root Users' app.
