We all know that we cannot delete individual words in the dictionary ... however I found in thread in Android Applications that may be somewhat useful. I am posting it here becuase I dont know how many people check the other sections of the site.

Here are a couple of the posts from that thread to explain.

So basically you would need to keep a .txt file on your SD card with all the custom words you want in your dictionary. When ever you add some mistakes, you reset the dictionary and then run this app to add the words you want. Its not perfect, but its better than anything thus far.

    thetomlin2,

Thanks for posting that, I think it is helpful.

Do you know, is there a way to "reset the dictionary", other than doing a factory reset on the phone - (perhaps by deleting the data/cache area on one particular component)?

    Just go to :
    Menu>settings>applications>manage applications>touch input>clear data

That clears out all the added words to your dictionary.

Yes, I tried it and - to my surprise - it worked.

If you are using 2.1 you can actually go in and delete or add individual words.

Yep. In 2.1, you can add, delete, and edit words in your dictionary here:

    Settings>Language & keyboard>Touch Input>User Dictionary

This happens to me when I download with the computer and copy to sd card. If you are currently doing it this way,

Try downloading it directly to your phone using browser instead of on your computer.
