Similar to that screenshot, I can get some pretty good download speeds, but my upload speeds never approach 1mbps. Is that something that will improve as the network matures?

I have uploads capping at 1 mbps all day long but my downloads will not break 3 mbps. Im in the Houston area.

I find that for the most part 4g is just about par with my home WiFi:
Most of the really low times were my playing around with different servers.
I just did this last test from my office at work.

Upload speeds are capped. Sprint and Clear both say at 1MBPS up, but I've gotten 1400MBPS up at the Newark Airport and 5700-6100 down.

That's almost home wifi fast for those of us on Cablevision. The up's faster, but it matches the down.

dang, I'm getting 3.5mb/.27 in Houston with 1 bar. Not bad, except if I move more than 10 feet away from a window, it disconnects.
