    Official Press release here

    Engadget Hands On Here

So what do we now know? No 32GB internal, just 1GB (but shipped with 8GB SD). No OLED, good ol' TFT. No 1080p recording (was far too good to be true).

    Biggest Dissapointment? Android 1.6, not 2.0 :(

Other than that, all the rumors seemed to shape up. I looks good on paper, the hands on was dissapointing to see it in such an unfinished state. I think I will have to reserve judgement till it smartens itself up a little more.

Sexy looking phoen though, right? ;)

I have to agree, the white is very tasty, which is odd cause I normal go for the darker colours...

First Post :) (coming from XDA)

Has the release date been announced? Phones nowerdays seem to launch quite close after announcement, expect to see this phone on T-Mobile/Vodafone/Orange pretty soon (o2 are too wrapped up with the Pre).

That is probably why it has 1.6, hopefully SE will release an update pretty soonish.

Unfortuantly not, they are sayin Q1 2010 (probably Mobile World Congress in Feb) Which makes the 1.6 a little more confusing

How easy would it be to upgrade it to 2.0 once you purchase the phone? (I am coming off of my first, last and only BlackBerry that has had a gazillion software updates that seem to do nothing. Those updates are done quite easially.)

I'm a bit disappointed by the production specs too, but will reserve final judgement until we know when it will be out, what carrier will have it (I hope not T-Mobile) and the final production specs. The biggest disappointments are Android 1.6, no OLED screen, no camera flash, only 1gb of internal storage space (Yes I know that I can get up to 32GB on a card), and no ram/rom data yet.

I'm getting tired of waiting for the RIGHT phone to come along and was hoping this could possibly be it, but I just can't keep waiting and waiting and the "first half" of 2010 is too long to wait for a phone with this many question marks, especially price and carrier.

I'm at the point where I need to broaden my horizons and consider the HD2. I'd prefer an android phone, but they just haven't come out with one with a big enough screen yet to grab me. If the droid was on Sprint and I didn't have to jump ship to verizon maybe I would go with that, but that's the only Android I would even consider and there's nothing else firm on the horizon. The passion is a big question mark still, which I MIGHT jump to verizon for. HOPEFULLY, by the time the HD2 hits the US there will be a better Android option hitting the market and I won't be too tempted to go to the dark side.

They have officially said that it will be upgradeably to 2.0 (but not when). There is a flash, albiet and LED one.

The official press release I liked to in my first post states it is releasing on 1.6

You do realise that the HTC Dragon is pretty much the HD2 with Android?

From what I've been hearing and seeing pics of, aren't the dragon and passion the same phone? And isn't verizon supposed to be releasing it as the passion? As far as it being the same as the HD2, people keep saying that, but it's a COMPLETELY different phone. I don't care if the specs are the same, that doesn't make it the same phone at all. If the passion does in fact get released for Verizon I will CONSIDER it. I still really don't wanna leave sprint becaues the prices are good and I don't have any problems with their coverage and it's what I KNOW. But if the droid isn't making me jump ship I don't see how the passion would. I'm not one of those spec geeks who *$# himself over a snapdragon processor compared to a 500 plus megahertz processor. I mean how much difference are you REALLY gonna notice in performance?? A web page loading in 10 seconds instead of 12?? Anywho, if sprint doesn't come out with something by the end of the year, I think that'll be it because I'm sure the other carriers will have what I'm looking for by then and I'll just bite the bullet and pay extra if it's verizon instead of T-mob. The droid is tempting, but I guess just not tempting enough for me to pay an extra $40-50 a month for.

Provided I haven't jumped on the HD2 by then.....

Where do you see HTC dragon? They said they are going to focus on HD2 with WM for now.
