    OK; simple question:

The Xperia X10 atm, runs at android 1.6, which only recognizes 1 touch at a time on the touchscreen.
If Sony ever gives us an update to 2.1, which supports multi-touch,....

....Can the X10 screen support multi-touch, but restricted by the android version atm only,

or is X10's screen only able to support single touch in the first place, and won't matter if android is updated?

Thinking about it, multi-touch does not work on Google Maps on my HTC Hero (which has multi-touch for other applications, like the photo gallery). So, not a huge deal breaker for me on the X10. Still gonna try and get my O2 one on Tuesday!

Ah, so theres actually a debate for this.....not so simple as I thought XD

Well, the "possible" Dual touch is still fine,....is it right, that Android phones actually only have support for Dual touch only even at the newest firmware atm anyway?
Cuz of Apple's patent for multitouch or something lol.

When you say that SE confirmed there is no multi-touch, are you sure they actually meant the term of "3 touch or above", or are they using this term as a general term for people who don't really see the difference between dual-touch and multi-touch?

We're still trying to clarify that. There are 365 comments on the SE Blog article I linked, and most are looking to clarify that exact question.

no need to wait anymore, it has been confirmed that the hardware is not capable of either dual- or multi- touch
