Yahoomail Wont Sync Sent Items & Deletes From Server and Device

Here are my issues any resolution would be tremndous as i just spent 2 hours on the phone with Verizon and HTC and both confirmed it should work but did not have an answer.

    1. When sending email a copy is not saved in my sent items on the server.
    2. When I delete email on the phone it does not ask me if I want to delete it from device or server. It deletes it from the device and on the server and a copy is not saved in my trash on the phone or on the server.

Please I am begging for help.

I use a standard free Yahoomail account with imap the same one I have had for years. I have wifi off, have performed a hard reset, used the standard impa settings as well as the multiple settings shown as work arounds here. In all cases I am able to receive email and send email.
I am a yahoomail user and not a fan of gmail. Just my thing.

You may have set it up as a POP account versus a IMAP account. POP downloads all the information from the server to whatever device your accessing yahoo mail from, so if it's your phone, all of your mail went to it therefore it won't sync back. IMAP cures this. Just google IMAP settings for Yahoo mail and you'll be in business. No, there isn't anyway as far as I know to delete just your phone messages without deleteing them on the server which my Blackberry could do. Linking Yahoo mail through the free blackberry information server allowed you to have Yahoo mail as "Push" and therefore RIM could control how you could delete it.

Thank you for the response. I am actually not using pop for my yahoomail I am using IMAP. I think you got to the root of the issue in the second part of your response. Does ANDROID/HTC not support PUSH like blackberry and could that be why it is not showing items in my sent items and it is deleting it off the server. If I purchase yahoo plus would this solve my problem. Also are there any 3rd party clients that handle email the way my blackberry would so I can see sent items and when i delete an item specify not to delete it in my inbox? I tried K9 it seems to work but I was not too impressed with the functionality and UI. I do appreciate your response though you are the only person that offered any insight and know more then the folks at Verizon or HTC. Do you think this will eb resolved as Android evolves. It is def NOT a dealbreaker, however, I am one of those weird people that just prefers yahoomail over gmail having tried both.

I'm actually having the same problem with my Hotmail account. I deleted a few emails from my computer this morning and they still show up on my Incredible. What gives?

I have asked the same thing (regarding your question number 1) many times on this forum and others. Most people will tell you that all you need to do is simply set it up using the auto setup features and it will work fine...but as you can tell that is not the case.

As far as I can tell, the Android Email App simply does not place sent mail on the server. It is only stored locally. The K-9 email app does, however. As for the deletes, in the General Settings menu there is an option to notify you before deleting. But you still won't see a copy in your trash on the device or the server. Even if you move it to Trash, it simply disappears.

I am not sure why this is happening, but it is. One work around I tried was configuring a Gmail account to receive all of my Yahoo. You can then use Gmail to send and receive Yahoo mail, however, sent mail doesn't sync.

In the end I gave up hope. Hopefully there will be an app or a fix to this.

Its almost as if there is a moritorium or some self imposed gag order on the forums against yahoomail. As of July 2009 YahooMail had 106 million users vs Gmail at 36 millon (ComScore Media Metrix). Gmail did grow at a rate of 44% for the year prior vs. Yahoomail at 22%, however, Yahoomail is still widely used. I loved one response in the forum "who cares why would anyone use Yahoo". I just prefer it that doesn't mean that I don't dislike Google for other things including Android. Let the search wars be if you creating a device with wide spread market appeal to consumers you should allow Yahoo to play nice with it. Has google threatened the forums with discussing this??? I love my droid incredible just would love it more if I did not have to jump through hoops to have a seemles integration with the number 1 internet email in the world by a wide margin.

I doubt there are any such gag orders...but it is surprising that no one really has any good insight into the problems. The only reason I am currently with Yahoo and have been since August of 2007 is because that was the best option at the time for using my Blackberry. I left my corp exchange server, and I was looking for something to replace that. I was going thru withdrawal once I left the exchange server, and my MSN account at the time just didn

Please let me know what you find out. HTC said they have not seen this one and it is possible that the phone is defective or its the "particular server". They were more helpful then Verizon though who first told me to configure pop even though I don't have plus then said well it works you can send and receive email.

I am with you love the incredible but its litle things like these in the config and such that you really did not have to suffer through if you switched from a phone to blackberry in the past 4 years. Blackberry was much more mature and Iphone OS had its growing pains, however, all my friends that have iphones from the start never had any issues with email using Yahoo.

Unfortunately, it looks like only the inbox is being synchronized when using yahoo via IMAP. Hopefully, they are working to have all the folders sync up when they release a new Android update.

Hey man. I had problems with Yahoo mail. I was already having junk mail sent to my Yahoo account so I just started a new Address with Gmail. Google owns me.

When it comes to products no one owns me. I love this phone but the quirks are starting to kill me. I can't get Yahoomail the worlds largets email client to work and I can't even get my bluetooth to reconnect after I turn the thing off. Its the quirks that just start to wear you down.
