Sorry took so long but really wanted to get this right and find out what was causing some issues. This should fix the airplane mode issue & wifi tether issue users were having. As for other issue that were brought up, I could not replicate the issues and found no issues in this update either.
If you flash it, let me know how it is...l
***Updated the 3.3B Rom to 3.4*** Faster & smoother as well as some under the hood tweaks***
If any one needs the latest OTA rooted, here are my links if it helps..
Updated 8-12-12 to fix Airplane mode force close that some users were having, wifi teather fix (if any issue, just update to newest version of wifi tether) - a little quicker & smoother...
Tethering seems to be an issue with this rom and is hit or miss with each phone. I have no problem tethering and i am using the newest version here --> http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Also make sure in the settings you have selected the thunderbolt profile and check the boxes for wifi driver reload, routing fix & disable wake lock.
i linked this post to my list of rooted stock and stock roms( Thunderbolt Root/Unroot Thread ) so folks would always be able to find it

I'll be honest, I am a little confused as to how this updates the bolt. Wouldn't flashing a new rom undo whatever the stock rom updates?
if you are rooted, you cant use the stock ruu or the OTA being sent out by verizon, it will unroot your phone and right now will block any attempt to reroot.
This is the same update going out by verizon, just redone so it can be applied to rooted phones.
The rooted only version is identical to the OTA and the debloated, deoxeded, ziplign version is rooted, with most bloatware & verizon apps removed(this gives you more phone memory) as well as it optimized to use the phones ram better and this version is able to be fully themed including app icons..

Ok, but when I flash my backup it goes back to my previous version. Do I have to wait for a Dev to make a new rom with this update or did I do something wrong? After flashing the debloated ROM, I cleared all data, cache, and davlik (sp.) and reloaded my backup so i didn't have to flash a new rom. Should I have flashed the new rom and not my back up?

The linked files are a Rom lol. So essentially you flashed your backup over it.
It's just like flashing a bamf Rom over a eternity Rom.
I posted this in another thread, but no one seems to be responding, maybe i'll get a bite in this thread:
i installed the new rooted update and radio linked in the first post above, and did the partition cache and dalvik cache wipe, but when i go in to settings/update it's still asking me if i want to install the deferred update. but in my software info, it's showing the new .9 version. anyone have any thoughts on how i can get rid of the deferred verizon update?
Also, after updating to the rooted .9 update, when i start OpenGarden to do wifi tethering, it tells me my S U binary is outdated. is anyone else getting that?

So if I do this update here will I lose all my current settings and apps?
or would this be just like doing the ota update?
I am new to rooting.
I am running a thunderbolt with gingerbread 2.3.4 (2.11.605.3) rooted using the revolutionary method.
thank you,
If you are running the stock gingerbread as you stated above and you already have your phone setup, you can just flash this over your current setup and you shouldn't lose anything as long as you dont pick data wipe. The rom linked above will not wipe data

You dont have to partition the sd car.
If you havent wiped data, the memory to do the update is still there, so its going to ask you since this is a rooted version of the ota. Also open garden is looking for the newest superuser binary.
Make sure you have the newest superuser installed, then go into settings and look for the update setting and update thie binary if it is still needed.
A few days back when Verizon posted this OTA update it put me in a forced reboot loop trying to install the update over and over. I found an article that had me wipe my cached from CWM and that seemed to work, but ever since when I reboot my phone it would try and apply the 605.9 update automatically. It was killing me to reboot into recovery mode and wipe the cache every darn day.
I installed the big 410MB rom from the link above and it appears to be working fine. The system info page brings back the correct version of software 605.9 instead of 605.5 and now the OTA update is showing no new softwares.
I only have ONE question. When I boot into CWM and try and install the 25MB radios ZIP it says INSTALLING UPDATE, and immediately jumps to INSTALLATION ABORTED. Do I not need the radios ZIP if I install the big ROM update?
I tried that yesterday and it kept telling me the update failed. but today it seems to have worked just fine. Thanks Jrocker!
get root explore from the market. then open it and llok for a folder called cache. In there will be a folder called fumo, and in fumo might be the ota update file, delete it. then go to the folder etc/security and rename the otacerts.zip file to otacerts.zip.bak

You have to install the radio file in the HBoot menu not recovery.
Rename the file too PG05IMG (make sure it is still a zip file)
Then place it on your sd card(not in any folder). Power off phone, then hold power & vol down together for a few secongs and it will boot to a white HBoot screen and in about 3 seconds will find the radio zip file and install it

Got it!!! I know exactly what you're referring to. Like flashing the stock un-rooted ROM back. I'll give it a shot. Thanks again so much for the info.

This radio zip definitely didn't work for me. As per another thread, I checked to make sure the file was named properly, and also that my sd card was FAT32 or whatever. When I went into the revolutionary boot loader or whatever, it said there was an incorrect image. Please advise.
Also, just to be sure, I want to flash your debloated rom, I've never flashed a rom before, will I have to wipe all my data and cache and such before? I think I read no, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

If you are stock rooted, you dont have to wipe data. if your on any other rom yes you do...I suggest clear cache though
The radio file is fine, are u in recovery or HBoot screen, revolutionary is recovery.
Rename the file to PG05IMG <-- thats a zero not an oh (make sure it is still a zip file) make sure its not ending in zip.zip should just be PG05IMG.zip

LOL, I was kind of expecting it. I have been posting my stock rom files over at my site for a while but noticed alot of people asking for it at other places so I figured I would put them out there..
As long as everyone is happy...Its all good..

thank you for getting back to me i just have a couple more questions.
does this apply to the debloated version as well? Meaning i dont have to do a data wipe?
do i need to do the radio flash?
and should i wipe the delvik cache and partion cache?

that is correct. however, please be aware that flashing either version without a data wipe could cause issues. prolly not since youre flashing a stock rom over a stock rom,but if you have glitches,or minor bugs,be prepaired to do a full wipe and reflash before accusing the rom developer or htc/vzw of bad firmware
a "full wipe" is the best way to ensure you wont have prollems. backing up your user apps with titanium backup makes reset up much easier.
there are apps in the market that you caneven backup your call log and text messages if you so desire.

no. but id reccomend to. most folks are reporting faster and more stable 4g,so its well worth the effort to flash,IMO. if you experience anything negative, you can always reflash your current radio.

So i turned off phone and held volume and power to get to white screen.. my options are:
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
HBOOT USB
IMAGE CRC
I am wondering how to wipe Cache so my phone dosen't try to install the update. Also Astro is on my SD card which dosent load fast enough to rename that license file.
Now would my next step just be to put the PG05IMG.zip file on my sd and go to white screen and wait 3 seconds? I'm sorrry for the annoying questions just dont want to brick my phone Thanks and million for any help
****EDIT****
So i found the clear cache and now it isnt shutting down my phone after 10 seconds. I paid for Root Explorer and tried to rename the file(then go to the folder etc/security and rename the otacerts.zip file to otacerts.zip.bak ): but it said it was only read only and would not let me re-name.
So now that I have cleared my Cache should I just procede with "put the PG05IMG.zip file on my sd and go to white screen and wait 3 seconds?" and then do the radio part after?

ok, I must the newbiest of noobs. Everytime I try to load a ROM, I no longer have my Apps, even in the 'Market- My Apps'. So I end up reverting to my stock ROM. So noob questions: Is there a way I can load this Rom and not lose my 'stuff/ settings'? or, can I just load the radios without loading the ROM?

Ok, think I figured out the first part. ONly question now, How do I know if the radios were updated? I did the HBOOT thing but nothing happened.

Hi there,
I used root explorer to erase that pesky update (again), and wanted to rename that otacerts, zip file but I get a message saying it can not because it is read only.
Hmm, any ideas to that?
I have NOT applied your rom yet. But I am rooted with revolutionary.
***Update***
Ha ha! I went into root explorer (for another reason) and saw that little switch on the top "mount as RW" and pushed it to change the permissions.
I didn't even know that was there.

I have already flashed the radios. Should I flash the rom like I normally would?
Excuse the ignorance, but I'm yet another noob figuring this out. Can someone tell me exactly how to flash the rooted ROM provided by jrocker? I'm fine with the radio portion but since this is something I've never done before, all of the jargon (such as clockwork) is flying over my head. I'm absolutely fed up with wiping the cache twice daily due to OTA.

Couple questions. If I flash this, and then flash a new ROM over the top after doing all the proper wipes, will these radios stick? If I then flash a AOSP ROM after, will it go back to whatever those radios are? Thanks.

Radios will not get wiped unless you flash new ones. Radios get Flashed in Hboot not recovery so there is no chance of wiping them.
I flashed this rom and the radios and everything seems to be working great. However, I have one problem. My phone was already in the process of downloading the OTA update when I did this flash. I guess the download completed even though I did the flash and it then asked me if I wanted to apply the update or defer it. I deferred it the maximum amount of time (5 days), but now I don't know if my phone is going to try installing the stock update or will see that it's on .9 and just forget it. When I look in Software Update, I have the option of installing deferred SW, but no option to delete it. Any suggestions?

Your probably going to need to wipe and reflash the ROM.
Thank You So Much Checked Md5 and they are good and ROM and Radio works perfect no problem whatsoever but i have one question, Why do some ROMS come with radios? (what is the radio...)

Roms dont come with radios, RUU (official releases from verizon) do. Developer roms dont have radios because some like to mix and match radios, roms & kernals.
Radios are needed to make the 3G & 4G work....
Also its safer to flash roms without radios in general.
