Cry I need help!! Rooted thunderbolt shutting off

I not sure if this has anything to do with the root!! HTC thunderbolt 2.3.4

i rooted my htc thunderbolt a few months ago.. the last few days ive had issues with my phone shutting off while im using it(with full charge). it does it every time. if your on the phone for more then 2 minutes it will shut off. if you turn it on right after it shuts off it will show the battery at 3-14%. if you wait a few minutes after it turns off then turnit on it will show the battery life at 45-80%.. It gets to the point to where it wont stay on.. If i put the phone on the charger it will work with no issues. i have no idea if it has to do with the root or if my battery is just crapping out..

does anyone have any idea if there is a way to fix it or do i need a new battery?

If you rooted months ago and this just started happening, I'd suspect the battery. Get a Rezound battery.

I am also having this exact same issue. I can't imagine it is the battery when several of us are having the same problem which started at the same time...

My wife and I both have TBolts; mine is rooted and hers isn't. She had been complaining about random shut downs and battery drainage for a while, and I just blew it off, until yesterday, when I saw it happen and offered to swap out batteries. Things were fine for a few hours, then I opened the camera app and clicked the shutter, and the Bolt instantly rebooted, and when it did, it reported that it was at 10% battery, which I thought was odd but didn't remember what it was at before, other than I didn't think it was nearly empty. Just now, the battery was at about 80%, I opened an app, and the screen went black: it didn't reboot, just turned off. I restarted the phone, and the battery reported itself at 3%.

After that, I put it on charge, where it sat at 10% for a half hour, then suddenly shot up to 100%. The battery isn't bulging, but it must be defective?

mine just shut off. when i powered it back on, it said no sim card. so i rebooted by pulling the battery (power button did nothing), it stayed on the boot animation til the screen went black. so i went into recovery, wiped cache and dalvik and rebooted. screen is still in boot animation, power button does nothing. only time the screen comes on is when i plug into charger. i just heard the chime for an email. now when i managed to get the screen on, its showing the stock lockscreen (i had been using golocker) but no touchscreen response. i'm wondering if my rom is being screwy and needs to be reflashed
