Place the file in your sdcardrecommended the root(top folder of sd card)
Install with your existing package installer, let it run it's thing and reboot and verify you have the superuser Icon in your app drawer.
If you like 2.1 then go ahead and flash it now, but if you're holding out for 2.2 it's always hit or miss wether the 2.2 OTA will be pushed to your phone so just wait the extra day, we should all have or be able to get the official 2.2 OTA or SDK.
Please leave thanks

Ahh well that's a good thing. Especially in the Transform area. Only introductory level android with a front facing camera. Good deal for the money though. So we have a lot of newbies I'd guess.
OK, so I got the OTA 2.2 and want to root so I can use the free wifi tether. Do I use the z4Root 1.3.0 apk or do I need to wait till some mods are made with the stock 2.2?
Just click the link and download the file, follow the directions then go into the app market and download "wireless tether" start the app, click start, then when superuser pops up click allow, but then you have to turn it off and click allow again before it will work. You dont need a recovery or anything just the z4root and your fine. Let me know how it works out.
Yes you can still root with it, and it doesnt come with wireless tether, you have to download "wireless tether" from the app market. enable it, disable it, and then re enable it again (for the first time only to allow superuser permission)

Do you need to have 2.2 to use the wifi tether? or can u still do it on 2.1
That one since your installing it like an app and not flashing it, i believe it doesn't matter but I recommend the root of your sd card, then install it right on your phone it's self explaining once you get into it.
temporary root is no good, it will unroot you every time your phone restarts. if you do permanent root, you can still click unroot whenever you want and you will go back to stock. Make sure to leave me a thanks if I helped.

I actually just tried it, mine seems to go nowhere when aquiring root shell. I need to give it some more figuring, if not root 2.1 and then flash the 2.2 rom somehow combining z4root with the only working recovery we have so far.
Im nu to this. always wanted 2 root my phone since i got it on black friday, (free @ radioshack). is it really this simple to root becuz i read alot of places that u can brick ur phone if u do sumthin wrong.

I cant get it to work. the app installs, but when i go 2 z4root app, and tap permanant root, it looks as if its trying to do sumthing but eventually jus freezes my phone and i have to pop out the battery. any suggestions
ive been trying to do this z4 thing and it says "running exploit in order to obtain root access" for about 5 mins then my phone restarts and nothing happened, i dont think it finished. I also did this a few days ago and it worked and it downloaded this app called superuser (i think) but now it doesnt get downloaded?
I have downloaded the z4zoot-(which the program calls its self z4mod)
I put the file on my phone
Removed my phone from my computer
I have installed the Program on my phone.
I ran the program. Did it for 30 minutes, then it restarted and was not rooted.
Took out the battery, and ran it again, and hour later, still not rooted, and didn't restart this time.
I uninstalled the program, and re-installed it.
I took it out once more, and let it run over night, still not rooted.
Once again uninstalled it, and re-installed it, took out the battery, and then restarted it to run again. Still did not root.
All it ever says it is doing is -{[(Running Exploit in order to obtain root...)]}- if I leave the page and come back it will say that it is saving a file or something, then go back to the running statement.
What am I doing wrong, and why is it not working?

I can not seem to find the list of supported devices, and if there is a newer version of this one click app or not...
I have the Samsung galaxy 5 Player with the 7 inch screen.
(Supposedly it is exactly like the Samsung Galaxy S, but without the Cell chip)
I have the following on my device:
Firmware version: 2.3.5
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-G70UEKI8
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.UEKI8
Model Number: YP-G70
Sorry for my being a bit skeptical, I just do not want to BRICK my device as I paid about 200 dollars for it, and if I break it, I wont be able to buy a new one within the year due to college...
Thanks for the help,
PS: I alredy installed the app, I just have not ran the Root/Un-Root features yet...
App looks nice, I'm an descent enough self taught programmer, and I've had this android device for a short while already, I'd like to learn more about this stuff, maybe help out with hacking it for stuff if I can, feel free to send me info, I'll try and reply in my free time!
