no more unlimited data as of 1/20/13
BSTFREEMSG Starting 1/20 Mnthly Unltd plans will offer 2.5GB/mo of full speed data & will slow to 3G speeds of 256kbps for cont'd use.
What's happening?
Starting on or about 1/20/13, Monthly Unlimited plans will offer 2.5GB/month of full speed network data but will slow to 3G speeds of 256kbps for continued data use after 2.5GB. If network data speeds are slowed, they will restore to full 3G/4G speeds as soon as your next monthly plan cycle starts. If you purchased a Mobile Hotspot add-on, your data usage is measured from a combined total use of phone and Mobile Hotspot usage.
Will it affect me?
It depends. First, keep in mind that 2.5GB per month is a lot of wireless network data and we anticipate that only a small percentage of Boost subscribers will actually reach that. To give you an idea, it's about 400,000 Mobile Internet page views, about 90,000 emails (without attachments), 91 hours of streaming music or 20 hours of video clips, in a month*. Also, this data is measured only when you're on a mobile network, not when connected to a Wi-Fi connection. So if you primarily use your device while connected to a Wi-Fi connection, you may not be impacted.
How will I know how much data I've used?
You will receive warning notifications via text message. First, when you reach 85% of the 2.5GB full speed data threshold. And then, once you reach the 2.5GB threshold. Again, most people may not ever receive those warnings since we anticipate it will only impact a small percentage of our subscribers.
What happens once I've slowed?
If you're part of the small minority of subscribers who reach the 2.5GB threshold, you will continue to have access to data but your data speeds will be slowed to 3G speeds of 256kbps for the remainder of your monthly plan cycle. This may result in slower page loads, file downloads and streaming media.** Full speeds will return at the beginning of your next monthly plan cycle.
However, even if slowed, this will not impact or affect your ability to make phone calls or send text messages from your phone.
Please visit boostmobile.com for additional details and our full terms and conditions.
*Measured data usage per activity is based on an average consumption and usage. Actual bandwidth may vary by website, video and email content, or other Internet application
I got the text today also. I do use over 2.5gb a month on occasion as I like to stream Netflix and Comcast (Xfinity) to my phone so this kind of sucks.
I was keeping track of my data usage for awhile but since I never had any issues I quit doing it. Looks like I'll have to start monitoring my usage again.
I got this text message too and if my 3g speeds speed up again I'm definitely gonna be affected, there were months that i managed may data and it predicted that i would go up to 4GB a month LOL but now with my crawling 3g speeds im not so sure yet...
My Boost Mobile network always sucked for me. I don't even bother with it. I'm usually always connected on wifi.. If i see that im not I wont even bother...

I have been with boost for a little over a year and their data always sucked for me no matter what mod I did with my phone. So as soon as I heard that they were going to throttle I started doing research and found that tmobile with straight talk will give you hspa+42 mbps speeds. So you buy any gsm phone that supports that frequency , unlock it, then use straight talk. Probably never get lte but at up to 42 mbps who cares

from what i can see any gsm phone running on the us gsm band (850/1800/1900) will support the T-mobile simcard as long as it is UNLOCKED!!!!!!!!! which is easy enough as long as phone has clean esn and not stolen. could most likly get the seller to have their carrier unlock it upon payment as part of the deal. that's what i would do. if not you can always buy a code. or find a unlock tut for that device. or last resort pay someone to do it for yha but option 1 would be the easiest

i know you were looking at a tab but here's a few phones that should work i just looked at m real fast so don't take my word on it check and make sure but these all look pretty compatible
Motorola ATRIX 4G MB860 Android
GSM(3G) HTC EVO 4G - Black
3G/GSM Samsung Google Nexus S - Black (Unlocked)
HTC Inspire 4G 4GB Black Android
all are on eb right now bids around a $100.00 probably go around 2 bills or less in the end so definitely affordable
me ima be looking for a good deal on either the LG P930 Nitro HD 4G or
Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II when i find one of those for the right price I'm out. its time for a new phone anyway. so if anyone has either in perfect cond for a fair price pm me....id rather pay more and have better service. my old lady can have my tu for 40 a month it perfect for her thats if they don't cancel the contract of my no contract service for usage violations i believe that's gonna be next....

What ever phone you decide to go with try to get a tmobile branded with hspa+42 support. Then unlock it however you decide. Then hook it up with straight talk with a tmobile sim. That way you ensure that you will get the fastest connection possible with no contract.
I'm not sure what phone to get yet, but I'm thinking of going with Tmobile's $30 Monthly 4G plan. It doesn't include unlimited voice minutes, but I'm not on the phone very much anyways. It does include 5gb of 4g data before being throttled though! Either way I could use Groove Ip with Google Voice over data if I do need to talk. I'm more interested with the data, so it sounds pretty good to me!
yah like the first week i tested at almost 3000kb but i just tested now amd its only 300 kb my bill is the 22nd... and i know i havent used 2.6 gb yet.... i tested like the one day i wasnt on wifi and it was like 80-90 mb and all i ran was pandora or skype... idk wtf is up with boost
I've read horror stories about straight talk cutting peoples service off for no reason in the middle of a pay cycle. I'd steer clear if I were you. Find another company with higher than a 2G limit. Apparently according to straight talk we really would be beyond unlimited.

I have read some horror stories too. Something about too much mb in 1 day. Like say 1 day a month you're on a road trip and use Netflix, if you try to use over 100mb in a day or something you get throttled. I don't know how true that is.. but it's kind of what I gathered from my own research.
If T-mobile is good in your area I think it's the next best than Boost and am considering switching to that.

Re: no more unlimited data as of 1/20/13
If you use your data for streaming.... videos, music etc or tether be aware Straight Talk has right on their tos that's it's a violation. Just an FYI.
I personally don't abuse my service with Straight Talk and I pay for my home internet service and don't try to cheat and use cellphone data as a full time replacement for home internet, so I've had no issues with Straight Talk.

it says on box first thing you see no contract unlimited data so they shouldn't call it unlimited data like you can use what ever you want. look up unlimited in dictionary. it means no limit. so this subject has been beat'n down enough i will stop there nuff said neway i have not teatherd at all since i have been throttled but they still felt the need to send me this text
and like i said. there gonna weed us all out. the ones who use a lot of data. as for home internet service. there some of us that due to the shit ass economy. that cant really afford Home internet. i payed for years of roadrunner but after losing my job of 10 years things are kinda tight. so good for all of you who can afford internet glade of it. just don't go kicking rocks at the ones who cant. like we are trying to get over or something. no in this day and time were just trying to get by. and as for boost i was on there service for years. and didnt even use data. but payed for it. so the way i see it. it all evens out. the cell phone company's tell what ever lies they want and that's cool but let me stream a few movies a month and I'm a outlaw...f m
:what:I got the msg..
" BSTFreeMsg You exceeded your data usage cap of 2560.000MB. We have reduced your data speeds through 02/26/2013." Didn't affect me at all..
