If you have custom recovery, put a rom and gapps if necessary on a microsd card, finish wiping with a factory reset, cache and dalvik wipe in custom recovery, and flash the rom. You'll lose everything, but it should work again.

You might have to mount it under the mounts and storage option first.
It should be labeled as external_sd or something similar.

It should look like this u believe http://www.google.com/search?q=cwm+mounts+and+storage&hl=en&client=chrom e-mobile&tbo=d&rlz=1Y3UXZM_enUS513US513&source=lnms& tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=VxDIUJO3LYXE0QHyj4C4Dg&ved=0CAgQ_ AUoAQ&biw=360&bih=519#i=0

So it would be sd-ext.

Are roms normally flashed from the sdcard on this device? If so, could it be that the card is just empty so it's not showing any zips as items to possibly flash? Do you have a card reader you can use to place a rom onto the card, then re-insert into the device?

And just to be sure, are you familiar with flashing roms from inside recovery or do you typically use other means to do so? The method for cwr is to wipe data/cache/dalvik and then:

install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard

...and then you can navigate to the sd contents and pick whatever rom (zip) you want to flash. Are you saying you've done that and there's no sdcard to access? Just wanting to make sure we're on the same page.

It looks like Iowa has this covered, but I just wanted to point out that as much information that you can relay to us will help and make this faster, even if you think it might not help. Keep your chin up, you came to the right place and Iowa is very knowledgeable. Goodluck!

Hopefully their CWM is functioning correctly. There have been a lot of people with issues running CWM on our tablet. Not picking up the sd card was one of those issues. I had an issue right after flashing CWM and went straight to TWRP. Hopefully they can get the tablet to read the card.

To Blacklablelive, if you can save your tablet w/o sending to the factory. I highly recommend flashing TWRP once you get it stable.

Do you know if there's a twrp img file available for this device that can be fastboot flashed if it comes to that? I can't seem to locate anything on their website but maybe it's out of date or I'm not looking in the right place.

Here you go. This is for the TF300T and TG. I used fastboot to flash the blob from this site. There is one for ICS and JB.

Here is a link for SDK w/ fastboot if needed.

Thanks man and jump right in here if you are available. You know way more about this device that any of us.

Have you used the sdk on this device before? Any special adb/fastboot drivers required and if so where to get them? I read in THIS thread that the fastboot devices command doesn't output a value. Does this ring a bell with you?

@Blacklablelive: Do you have a machine that runs Windows, Linux, other?

We should be able to get you to fastboot a recovery or the entire system onto your tablet but we need a little back ground to get you set up.

In order to use fastboot, you're going to need the ASUS ADB/Fastboot drivers found here. Even though it says it's for the 201, they are good for any TF model and I use them for my TF700.

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201

The problem is that they aren't in exe form and have to be installed manually through the device manager. Download the zip file, and unzip them to an easy to find place. Then open up the device manager, and plug the tablet into the computer in fastboot mode. It should pop up as an unknown device, probably as Android 1.0 or something like that. Right click it and click update software. Navigate to the place you unziped the drivers to and click ok. It should install the drivers.

After the drivers are installed, you can install the Android sdk provided earlier. You will want to know where it installs to because you will have to navigate to that place to use the fastboot command.
In the command prompt, use the command "cd C:/ " except type the actual path as to where the fastboot file is located in the sdk. Make sure the TWRP file is in the same folder, and then use the command "fastboot flash recovery 'twrp.img'" or what ever the file name for twrp is. after that you should be able to boot into twrp and flash the rom from the sd card.

^^Cool. I was concerned with the bootloader interface driver. That's perfect.

Once the driver issue is cleared, I think I can save you some time on the sdk install. Try this instead of downloading the full blown sdk:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7460142/android-sdk-windows.zip

Unzip contents to the root of your computer's C drive. Once you have the adb/fastboot driver installed from jhawkkw's instructs, plug in your tab to the pc via usb cable and go into clockwork. Don't choose any options in there, just let it sit there with all the options showing.

Now open a command prompt on your PC. Enter the following commands:

cd c:\ android-sdk-windows\platform-tools

then...

adb devices

Now let us know if it output your tabs serial #. That should give us a clue as to whether fastboot is going to work.

md5 is a file checker to make sure what you downloaded is not corrupt.

http://www.winmd5.com/download/winmd5free.zip

Download that zip and install it. when it is done you can use it to find the md5 of the file you downloaded and compare it to the one one the website.

Review this post again for install instructs:

What we are doing is unzipping the file from my dropbox folder onto the root of your computer's C drive. At that time you will see a folder called Android-sdk-windows. If you open it up, there'll be a subfolder called Platform-tools. And inside that there will be several files, 2 of which are adb.exe and fastboot.exe.

Once that is accomplished, and the adb/fastboot driver has been installed from several posts above, then you can attmept to interface the phone with your PC using adb and/or fastboot commands.

Ok good job. I don't know what rom to recommend for this device. You mentioned you used the ICS version of TWRP so perhaps somebody could chime in.

Aside from that however, what's your plan to get a rom (and perhaps Gapps if necessary) onto the card? Do you have a card reader? That would be preferred. If not, we can adb push a rom from the pc to the phone if need be.

So do you remove your card and put the rom onto the card? Because you still don't yet have a booting device right? So I'm not sure how you'd use the phone to access the rom.

Anyway, Gapps is just short for Google Apps. Necessary for AOSP roms only. So it may not apply to you.

Ahh ok I see what you're saying. Yeah give it a shot and see if your pc recognizes your storage while in recovery. I thought it was called usb storage or similar back when I last used that option but whatever works.

I'm assuming there are some JB roms but from what I'm reading, it appears quite necessary to load the official JB update in order to acquire the JB bootloader so we're talking about unrooting I would think.

At any rate, since you're still on ICS, I would hope there is a stockish ICS rom available for this device? Anyone?

That way you can get the thing up and running. That's priority one. Everything else about JB and related stuff can be decided after you have a booting device.

On an Asus tab, if you unlock the bootloader then Asus will not push ota's to the device and they have to be installed manually. Also, don't try to install the .blob file found on the Asus firmware list because I believe it will hard brick the tab with an unlocked bootloader.

jhawkkw, any thoughts on an ICS rom to get the thing at least booting again? About the only thing I'm seeing so far is CM nightlies. They do seem to have stable versions of both CM9 and CM10:

[ROM][TF300T][4.0.4] CyanogenMod 9 Nightlies - TF300 Development - RootzWiki

Any thoughts on that idea?

Sorry I haven't been around but as you all know, life calls.

I'm not really familiar with ICS seeing as my device came with Jelly Bean. I do know that there are ways around voiding the warranty if the device is running the ICS bootloader. I haven't done a lot of reading on it since it doesn't apply to me.

I really hate to point a member to another forum but XDA REALLY has A LOT on this device. I MEAN A BUNCH! If he needs to find a custom, rooted ROM or even a stock, rooted ROM. That's gonna be the place he needs to look.

@ Blaclablelive, I just want to warn you that if you do decide to go to XDA, you are going to find some not-so-nice people over there. Just wanted to forewarn you. I suggest getting your device functional here at Android Forums. These guys are trying their best to help you. When you finally do get it working, go to the site below to look for your ICS ROM.

Yeah, the only ICS Roms I see are CM nightlies, and an unofficial version of AOKP B40. There seem to be a lot of stock rooted deodexed roms, mostly JB, and one for ICS, but has a big warning on it.

AOKP is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699535

The stock ICS one is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772614, but I don't recommend it because it has big problems if the current version is not the same version already.

Obviously flashing CM9 or AOKP will require ICS gapps.

Just wanted to through this in here too. This is the video that I watched when I started working on mine. It has a lot of good info as far as installing fastboot and using it. All he needs to do is replace CWM with TWRP and it's commands.

How to: Root ASUS TF300 + CWM Recovery (Works on ALL Firmware) - YouTube

Like I mentioned earlier, my tab is running JB. The ICS bootloader is a little bit different. I wish I could be more help but I'm not up to speed on ICS.

Sounds good man. Yeah we got TWRP flashed so the only hurdle left is finding an ICS rom to get the thing booted. After that, he can do whatever needs to happen so he can accept the OTA and be on official JB. I'm leaning toward recommending the CM9 stable from the Rootz link above. That will be based on ICS and should get him up and running so he can proceed.

You guys are awesome! Even though it's not my tab, I really appreciate all the help you've given him. Nice to know there are still people out there who will go out of their way to help someone.

Here's a good place to look for a ROM. Most of them have been converted to JB but there are still a few out there for ICS.
