Default AOKP vs AOSP

With the arrival of two really cool looking ICS ROMs, I have to ask a silly question. I know they mean "Open Source" and "Open Kang" but what exactly is the difference?

AOSP is essentially what Google sends out (Android Open Source Project) as in completely stock.
AOKP is a custom ROM that's based on AOSP with some mods baked into it. I run it on my Nexus and it's one of the best ROMs out there. Lot's of development and speedy. Give it a shot.

Also, the word "kang" is essentially stealing/copying. One thing that's common in Android development, to its detriment. Devs. like AOKP also cite their sources whether they're other devs. or Google themselves.

Saw on this forum a ROM with the word "Kang" in the title. That's why I mentioned it, I wasn't trying to steal anything...but thank you for the clarification

check this out... it should give you a little more clarity. gannon posted it in his AOKP thread.

AOKP is a popular new ROM, what are the differences to CyanogenMod?
