Default [Rom] Re-Stock - Triumph Stock Re-Imagined & Verbatim Editions v5 (2.3.7 Gingerbread) 07/16/2012

Everyone remembers how excited they had been the first time they powered up their Triumph. Everyone also probably remembers a few days later when thoughts of buyer’s remorse started running through their heads. Thankfully soon after Dev’s like Tickerguy, isaacj87, mantera, ziggy46, Austrie, Whyzor, Mobstergunz, b_randon14, Jaay Dogg & g60madman went to work and completely turned the entire experience around . The idea behind Triumph Re-Stock is that the entire experience can now be relived but this time without the let down.

THANKS

Tickerguy, isaacj87, mantera, ziggy46, Austrie, Whyzor, Mobstergunz, b_randon14, Jaay Dogg & g60madman for doing what a company with the resources of Motorola could not and giving us what we could have had from the beginning. Big thanks to b_randon14 for providing the copy of the stock Rom I took all the Stock Rom images from & g60madman for the base, building guide, and the patience.

Tweaks & Features

Faster GPS Fix (GPS.conf)

Youtube HD Playback over Wi-fi

Improved Scrolling

Modified Buffer Sizes for streaming performance

Fewer process running in background

Improved image display quality

Can change PRL by default (Will still need to follow the method of changing the PRL as done when using the Stock Rom. If you have any questions about changing your PRL please refer to the below link. I am by no means an expert on the subject.)

http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/395533-big-difference-data-speeds.html

Issues (Slandered expected CM7 issues)

HDMI does not work (Maybe one day but until that day I say its worth the trade.)

BT or Wi-Fi enabled will prevent deep sleep mode. (Toggle, Toggle, Toggle)

Some videos in portrait mode flickers.

Custom App starter Lockscreen option for Rings and Sliding Tab is unfortunately still glitchy. Will probably be this way until I can get the Sliding Tab incoming call Lockscreen as the default and can then remove the option as doing so now would also require removing the option for setting the incoming call Lockscreen Style. Have honestly figured out every other Lockscreen Style but Sliding Tab is treated very differently then the other Styles and little pieces seem to be all over the place. Also not a single resource on how to do it, apparently no one else has ever decided on forcing users to use the Sliding Tab style Lockscreen, go figure.

Instructions

1, Download and place zip on SD-Card.

2, Boot into Recovery.

3, select "wipe data/factory reset"

4, Under Mounts and storage select "format /system".

5, Under advanced select "wipe Dalvik cache"

6, select "install zip from sdcard"

7, select "choose zip from sdcard"

8, select "Triumph_Re-Stock.zip" from the available list of files.

9, select "yes install Triumph_Re-Stock.zip"

10, select "reboot system now" and you should be good to go.

11, Will need to manually change the Incoming Call Lockscreen Style to SlidingTab. (Advanced settings / Lockscreen / Style Options)

Re-Imagined: Will need to manually change the Statusbar Toggle Indicator Color to red in order to complete the Theme.
(Advanced settings / Interface / Notification power widget)

If updating from a previous version skip step 3 but wipe cache in its place.

Look interesting! May I ask, how can I change the prl? Is it much more easier than the other method which require the code or like fast connect to pc? Which prl work best for the MT and after I change it, will it still work if I flash to other rom? Thank you again.

To change the PRL you would still need to follow the instructions outlined in this post,

http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/395533-big-difference-data-speeds.html

Sorry, what I had meant by default is that changing the PRL in any other Rom besides stock requires that you first open a Terminal and enter a few command lines or restore a Stock Rom Backup. So basically I was saying that with this Rom these extra steps are not required. The extra steps are not difficult in any way,

http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/526028-quick-prl-swap-cm7-updated-4-5-a.html

That one was more intended to be part of the Stock Rom theme.

What PRL works best I think depends on the area you live. I have tried a few that many members posted as being the best that made things worse and vise versa.

Big thanks should go to thangfish for the discovery. All I did was add the line to an Init.d script. Surprisingly enough after doing so I plugged my phone in and the diagnostic port was open.

One thing I have yet to figure out is where people find lists of PRLs and any hint about which ones work best in what areas.

What I had done was read over the posts in the instructions thread. There are a few links to PRL's posted by other users. Chances are that if you follow a few of the posted links from the thread they will also lead to other PRL's and reviews. Otherwise the results vary from area to area and person to person. What I did was swap the PRL in the morning and then either just try browsing or running speed tests through the day from different locations until finding the one that works best. Otherwise every individual will get different results. For example PRL's starting with a 1 are usually for business accounts and are awesome around Center City and would be given good reviews by someone who does not leave Center City all that often. On the other hand someone else living in the same area who often leaves or spends more time around the residential outskirts may give the same PRL a negative review.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I was going for. Now if I could only find ware the CM defaults are set I would be one happy camper. Just finished installing Ubuntu on my first SSD and am about to start digging, so excited.

Next I'm going to make CM9 into the G1. Lol

Just thought I would mention that I have been getting excellent battery life with this Rom. I have been getting these results without using JD or any battery saving App. Basically added a toggle for Mobile data to the Status Bar (Settings/Advanced settings/Interface/Notification power widget/Widget buttons).

What's the name of the app you're using to get those stats? I think I could use that myself.

There are two by that name on the Play Store, and the screenshots don't really distinguish them. Which developer?

Much appreciated. A lot of how I find apps is word-of-mouth from other users, so I'm always interested in what works well for others. Not that much of a widget fan, but I'll deal.

Managed to incorporate a Beats Audio port into the Rom, Things are sounding pretty crisp, at least with DSP removed. As long as my phone does not blow up from now until finishing work I plan on posting an update with the Mod included. I know some people think its all Placebo effect but in all honesty thats fine with me if true long as nothing is adversely effected. In my oppinoin using the $300 headset I inherited from an x-roommate things seem to sound better with the MOD. I guess that would be obvious though considering I have included the MOD in the Rom.

Edit: update is up, phone is still in one piece.

Also, just noticed another Rom of the same name so have changed the name of this Rom to Re- Imagined unless I think of something else. Will change the zip name in the A.M.

Just to avoid a repeat the other Rom I have started working on will be called Starship Triumph and promises to go where no Triumph Rom has gone before. Is a supper slimed down version of Isaac’s Miui set up to use a modified version of the Zeam Launcher and has a more traditional Android Look. LOL

Am I the only one thinking Starship Triumph should incorporate Jefferson Starship as a ringtone? WE BUILT THIS CITY ON ROCK AND ROLLLLLLLL!

Anyway......

So a few questions aboot this ROM. I like how it looks, its very plain and basic which is how I like it. Since it looks Stock, am I to assume gapps is included? Also, how's battery life compared to just plain ol' stock? And. Muffins. I forgot what else...OH. UOT kitchen compatible?

Edit: Ignore the GApps part. Haven't had my coffee yet. *download*

Thats funny, had Jefferson Starship in mind when thinking of a name. You are correct in not needing to flash Gapps. One thing you may want to do and I just kind of asumed most users would is remove the stock bloat-ware. I honestly had only included those apps as part of the Stock theme because I thought users like myself who abandoned Stock long ago would get a laugh over how it looks just like the first time they had powered up their Triumph. I personally remove them first thing after flashing. Otherwise once you get past the humor aspect of trying to make the Rom look as much like stock as possible I have found the Rom itself has excellent performance.

Sweet deal, at least I'm not the only old school person! XD I'll have to give this ROM a whirl now. I downloaded it earlier, but never flashed it due to getting distracted by Disgaea...>_>;;

Oh, so, UOT Kitchen? And what would you recommend to remove apps? I've tried Titanium Backup. Sometimes it works, othertimes...it doesn't.

The first time I just flashed it to test. I then checked the files and most had been missing. After the second time I ended up extracting the zip and moving them all over individually into the Rom. Like a few seconds after starting the boot I thought to do a log-cat and at just the spot it opened I could see it was running the files.

Should be good with UOT Kitchen. Have not tested but I know it does with CM7. I just use a file explorer for removing the apps. Could also open the zip with 7zip delete the files and flash the Rom again. Can also remove the boot sound and animation inside the system/media folder. There is a less intrusive backup boot animation stored els-ware. Have contemplated adding an un-intrusify zip but end up spending the time doing something else. Had ment to do this earlier but ended up going over and changing some text. So on the next update in places that had used generic terms like "Rebooting Phone" will now say Rebooting Triumph". I am very easily distracted and apparently amused.

I have added a Lite version that does not include the Virgen Mobile Bloat-ware. It also uses an alternate Boot Animation for anyone who's head exploded after hearing the Stock Boot Sound again. Anyone using the non-Lite version who would like to switch can just flash the Lite version in Recovery & wipe your Caches and you should be good to go.

Edit: Spot that once contained an over-joyous rant.

Uploading 1.3 now. Sliding Tab is now the default Lockscreen Style. What I did was change some smali in the android.policy jar so when the system thinks it selecting Rings it’s actually getting Sliding Tabs. Had to also swap the text in the CMparts strings xml and the positions on the menu by editing the arrays xml, otherwise you would get tabs when selecting rings and vise versa from the settings menu. Anyhow it worked out wonderfully, bugged me that the Rings on boot killed the entire theme. Very happy it is now fixed. Still need to work on the in call screens but otherwise just a few more things before the Rom is indistinguishable from Stock. If you have version 1.2 installed there is not much need to flash version 1.3, outside of a few pieces of text all the changes only apply to the first time the Rom boots.

Hey, just a couple things that bother me:

1. Battery icon's edges are rough.
2. Shorcut icon's colored pretty badly.
3. The color of the Unlock and Sound On/Off text in the lock screen seems a little off. Is it default?
4. Rounded corners in the status bar are significantly bigger than stock.

I can help you with the coloring if you supply me with the original shortcut icon, and I can help you with the battery icon if it's technically possible.

This rom does not have it unless it was just added. You can theme the status bar with uot kitchen, should you decide to do so.

Not sure how to take this one. I guess I'm sorry my work bothered you enough to have wanted to create an account(?) and comment on it being bad. Kind of a shame I did not just get a PM as I would have definitely welcomed help on account of the other tasks becoming much more time consuming then I ever anticipated. The Lockscreen Style defaults for example I thought would be just a value that could be changed in the code but is actually taking a decent amount of smali editing with zero resources or direction. Spent about 8 hours over the last two days getting Sliding Tab set as the default incoming call Lockscreen Style and will probably take a few more to get the correct answer / ignore resources to load properly. Otherwise I canít say the images are near as bad as the comment would like to portray. I know there are still a few included images I had done quickly just to get an idea how the color would look on the phone and planned on giving all the images another look over after completing some of the more show stopping tasks but in daily use had not thought the remaining few had been noticeable or I would have given them a higher priority. Otherwise going to brush the dirt off the shoulder, continue working and let the haters keep on hating.

Just found ware a few defaults are actually set so next update I have turned off GPS and enabled non-Market installations. I don’t know about anyone else but I always forget to turn off GPS after flashing and end up with a dead or almost dead battery before remembering to do so. Also own a Kindle so Amazon App store is a must and find needing to check the box before installing a little annoying. Not enough to have hunted the settings down but figured may as well why I’m looking at them.

Now I did flash this, when you first uploaded it. I like it. Only thing that bothered me was the keyboard seemed to be off. It could just be my hands. But I dunno if you have noticed issues. I'll flash this updated version and see where it takes me!

Was probably the Talkback keyboard, bothers me too but left it as default in the non-lite version because it's how stock is set up. I took it out in the lite version and I honestly long press the field and change to Android Keyboard first thing after flashing.

That's probably exactly what it was. I didn't change the keyboard when I flashed it.

Very much hope with the 3 day weekend I will be able to knock out a large chunk of the To-Do List. Cleaned up a bunch of images last night and disabled the over scroll glow. Still need to change the Statusbar Toggle color but donít think it will be that difficult to locate. Probably one of the easier items on the list but end up back at the lock screen every time I start looking. Have easily spent more time setting the Tab Lock screen then rest of the entire Rom combined.

Sorry about that, the issue with the camera toggle was a CM7 issue. I think I'm going to do what I believe g60madman had done to fix it and use the camera App from Tickerguys build with the next update. Thanks for the reminder as I very rarely use the front camera.

Edit: Just tested and the Toggle is now working. Will put an update up some time today with the fixed Camera APK.

Uploading 1.4 with fixed Camera Toggle, had wanted to get more done before updating but don't like the idea of a broken Camera. Cleaned up a few images and disabled the overscroll glow. Still a little red on the edge but nothing like before. Figured I would check it out in use for a bit before deciding to get rid of the effect all together.

Sorry about that, think 2 or 3 people may have got the bad Camera App. Not a Mediafire fan at the moment. All should be good now, downloaded and flashed each version just to be sure.

Sorry about the quick updates but have decided to put my Lockscreen obsession on hold and work on a few of the other less frustrating tasks on my To-do list and have been blowing through them fairly quickly. Probably should have sooner but for some reason have been obsessing over setting the Lockscreen defaults. Probably just better to step back and try again fresh, I'm sure I am just over complicating it. Anyhow the Phone Dialer is now about 90% Stock but buttons are a tad wider. Took me a bit to notice. Basically after posting the screen shot I flashed Stock for a second look because I thought the bottom buttons had been larger but turned out they had been ok. The dialer buttons on the other hand need a bit more space between them. Doesn't seem to always be a fan of using images that end in .9 from Froyo.

Edit: Looks like the Dial-pad buttons may stay at their current size. Don't think Ill be able to make them 100% Stock unless removing the T9 prediction field between the Dial-pad and the Text-field at the top of the screen. Will probably just keep the T9 prediction's, the difference is not all that much and I like the T9. Could maybe loose a little width to create an illusion they are the same size as Stock. Will check them out in daily use for a bit before deciding.

Also think I'm going to change the name back to Re-Stock. May have jumped the gun and am not sure if either nothing ever happened with the other Rom or I just misunderstood what was going on. Either way I had been posting jokes about doing this Rom and the name for a fairly long time and would rather use the original name. Keep also finding it referenced all over the place like build.prop and script names and would be easier then hunting them all down and editing them.

Would like to thank those who have made donations. Guess I should start a list or something, really had not expected anything so is very much appreciated. Think I'm going to take the first round and give back to the developers who had made this possible in the first place.

Edit: Well the Sliding Tab color has been fixed. Again I apolagise for the back to back updates. Had I realized I would have been able to get the other items on the To-do list done so quickly not only would have just done them long ago but would have just waited and posted fewer updates. With that said I believe I only have three more items on the list and can guarantee I wont have either the Incoming call Lockscreen default or the Statusbar Toggle Indicator Color figured out anytime in the next 24-48 hours. Think I may put off on Screen Transitions as I'm itching to take what I have learned from this project into more original ideas. Otherwise I'm about to post 2.0. Figured I would just jump ahead as with everything that has been done over the last few days it feels like a totally different Rom.

Thanks for this, I remember a few people posting about wanting the same thing back when Whyzor had put back the ADW Launcher in the Reloaded Rom but was not sure there would be much of a demand for a Froyo Styled Gingerbread Rom. Ultimately the decision for the project came because in the past I would come up with an idea for a Rom and would then get so caught up in trying to implement the idea that I would eventually lose interest in the idea itself. With this project I can focus more on the how and less on the design so next time I have an idea I will already know how to implement it. If that makes any sense at all. Otherwise I wanted at least something original so decided on the swapping of some green for red. Until very recently I have probably decided at least once a day to go back to green. I like it much better now that the overscroll effect has been toned down and most images have been touched up. Think at first I must have been looking at things with mother eyes. lol

Edit: Sorry forgot but yes it does have a beats Audio Port included and can confirm via Log-cat that it is working. From what I understand on an actual HTC device there would be an interface that would allow adjustments so basically these ports only give the standard profile. Otherwise this is the port that was incorporated into the Rom. You don't need to have the Beats Headphones.

I'd been on MIUI and lately CM9, but couldn't do without a camera and was getting totally pissed that BT streaming to my car stereo hardly ever worked without rebooting the phone when I got in. I dl this and installed Sunday. I have only restarted it once Sunday afternoon, but have not had a SINGLE instance that bt didn't connect right up. I did check the option for quick bt connect and it connects super fast. I haven't seen that option in other ROMS. I kinda miss the ICS interface, but I am using the stripped down re-stock ROM and it's rocking fast and solid. And did I mention great battery life?
Awesome job!

Thanks,

The quick BT connect is a standard CM7 feature so I can’t take any credit for that. Would however like to think my previous obsession with collecting, testing and tweaking system Tweaks has helped in contributing to the other items.

The equalizer is a no go, no one has been able to make it work on non-htc devices as of yet. Had to remove the one from CM7 as it made things sound off with the Beats port. The funny thing about the battery icon is that outside the image used for 100% charge they had been the only images I did not need to do any manual colorizing in that was able to right click the solid green and swap with red. with some of the other images there is some blending and shading to work around but the battery is pretty straight foreword and doesn't look any different then the stock images when blown up side by side on the monitor. I'm not really sure what else I can do for them. Could maybe try and make an extra black outline around the inside of the border.

The main thing I noticed about the audio player is that it is MUCH louder on the phone speakers than it was in MIUI. I can hear it thru the phone now! I don't think I used it in CM9.

I had previously ran all my mp3’s through an application called MP3 gain that helps filter out distortion at high volumes and the tracks sounded wonderful on other systems but had always sounded extremely low on my Triumph so would either install volume+ or turn up the DSP manager as loud as I could get it. First thing I noticed after the port was that these tracks sounded perfect without doing either.

Have also uploaded both my battery icons and the unedited icons taken from the stock framework. If anyone would like to take a shot at coloring them I would be more then happy to include them and give all the credit in the word. Otherwise it also gives a chance to see the images side by side.

I'm not really sure what else I can do for them. Could maybe try and make an extra black outline around the inside of the border.
aah ok makes sense about the equalizer and i think it just the red coloring making it more apperent or am i wrong?

I think you are correct, lol Was thinking that going over the outline with a darker black could maybe help. Easier to understand after looking at the images, could just be there is not much that can be done. I personally had not noticed until pointed out. Woundering if weather or not the red wallpaper is used makes a difference. Was after using the darker red wallpapper that I thought the red would look better.
