Anyone having an issue when GPS is turned on, your data goes to 1x even though you're in the middle of a full reception zone? Is it the ROM, or is it just VM throttling my grandfathered plan? Gotta have my 3G to play Ingress.

format sd card in a card recard, wipe system data, cache, dalvik...flash rom, gapps, talk.... reboot
set up wifi, click talk, login google account, sync start....
no market.......still...

then I used
MT_CWM_5504_20120527.zip, wipe system data,cache, dalvik...flash rom, gapps, .... reboot
this time I didn't format talk
login screen popped up first thing after the OS loaded... no way to cancel....I had to walk outside to get cell signal... after it started to sync, a window popped up and asked me if I want to cancel because I can only initialize once...I clicked cancel but the initialization was already done....
Why the cancel screen popped up so late.......

I notice that the initialization app look different.. in the first few attempts the initialization screen from talk is the same as android 4.1. So the two gapps packages have different initialization app?

I have had time whenever I use data it throws me from evdo to 1x even if the signal is good....
I think it's more of a rom issue.. you can go to network selection and pick evdo only but you will not be able to get incoming calls

This is a harware problem. We have one antenna for both the GPS and cell radio. I thing the 10-15 files didn't have this issue, but I think that every other set of files did.

Could someone confirm that with me?

I just tested it on MIUI with a friend's Triumph, and it doesn't cut me off to 1x. Perhaps it's just my phone's antenna. Any external GPS antennae that are compatible with the Triumph?

You were using the new Talk gapps? That one has some issues with CM7, I dunno why. Just use regular gapps w/o the new Talk. I just reflashed a newer CM7, no issues.

That's why I would like someone to confirm that the 10-15 build doesn't have this issue. I think that the issue stems from the two parts asking for antenna time at the same time and the files and setup used in the 10-15 build were different.

If I didn't have two side cars to work on and a family along with my Android/Java studdies, and oh yeah, work, I'd do long drawn out tests.

On a side note. I have a ton of data for a proper (I hope) power_profile.xml
I know that it's not that important, but it has bothered me since I bought the phone.

Get my new triump for Virgin Mo... change the recovery image file, backup the original rom and then wipe all data/cache etc. After that, i flash it to this custom rom and it running fine with all apps installed. Stupid me to overclock it 1800mhz and it freezes. Now, it keeps reboot and reboot to android main screen and it freezes again and rebooting. Can't get in android in stable condition. How can get in overclock screen and change the setting to original? It boot in android main screen and keeps freezing. I don't want to re-flash the rom again since I have 30+ apps installed. If I go in the backup mode and do a backup, will the setting still the same? I need reset to original 1000mhz on cpu to get this phone runing.

Tekone, just reflash the ROM, just wipe cache and dalvik and you won't lose your apps.

Actually, you probably don't have to wipe anything to reset the clockspeed to default value.
Just reflash.

I had a flashable file that would rest the clock table. I'll have to look for it to post it and that will be around 10pm est.

Until then, run a search for cpu clock reset. I think that might work.

So, Ryder, you saying it won't reset the clockspeed with a simple reflash / no wipe?

I don't think so. If anybody looks at the updater script, they would deer that /system gets formatted and the files in the system folder get pushed to the /system position, along with some permissions and stuff. The frequency settings can be set via the init script. A reflash might work and I don't think it would hurt

Why the launcher does not rotate? Portrait only... I removed all the wallpaper apks, so just black background but that shouldn't hurt auto rotation
Apps rotates fine.

Does the 12/28 build still show CyanogenMod-7-20120819, build date is also Aug 19?

I'm fairly sure I flashed the 12/28 release, how can I verify?

EDIT: Answered my own question, I did my last backup on 1/9 so it would appear the ROM date has not changed since the Aug 19 update.

You're right. I need sleep
I think the idea of reflashing the ROM might be the best as the frequency control needs root access. I think it does, but the "settings" app doesn't need to ask for root access. But that might be because it's a system app.

When I have had the same issue, I tried different apps (Sygic and Navfree), but if Google Navigation was not locking neither were they. Do you have everything checked correctly in Location settings?

I do not have this issue. GPS and 3G coexist happily. I am on a grandfathered plan too.

I use program called GPS Status. Seems to be a bit faster to lock compared to Google maps.

I rarely use GPS at all. When I do it can take a while to lock, maybe a minute or two. I get a good enough location in seconds to drive though.

Same here. GPS and 3G work together on my flash of 12/28. That is if you can believe the 3G icon in the status bar.

Edit: just ran a couple of speed tests with GPS on and off. Not much difference between the results. Got about 400k (which is good for me) both up and down.

I think I may have found something interesting about GPS, it seems to fit our SOCs behavior.

Note on the GPS

Note that messing with GPS can reboot(that is to say your phone crashes and reboots because of that) your phone on certain devices(like the htc dream or the nexus one).
The GPS is attached to the modem on the htc dream and the nexus one.
The only way to request a fix or to activate it is trough a rpc mecanism that is between the modem and the CPU that runs Android.
That RPC mecanism uses shared memory between the modem and the CPU that runs Android.
On the htcdream and the nexusone a serial line is emulated on top of the RPC mecanism: the serial lines can be accesed at /dev/smd0 for the modem(AT commands) and /dev/smd27 for the GPS NMEA.
So compatibility with applications that understand NMEA is garanteed.
Note that the GPS parsing library doesn't require to use NMEA, it could also uses the RPC directly(to be verified)

Thumbs up what i think (bugs)

I like it. But I've noticed some bugs. The major one is random phone rebooting. It will reboot in the middle of web browsing or running an app for no reason at all. Its not all the time but enough to be annoying. Actually did this the first time I was trying to create this post. Every now and then on bootup from full off it will run the animation twice. Not a big deal but should be noted. Sometimes why running apps they will crash to home screen without any errors or popup window saying close or retry. Like u normally would get if an app has a problem. This is annoying because what u where doing is lost. This happens most often with web browser. In some games such as candy crush or angry birds sw. a lag or lockup may cause frustration. The screen will stop responding to your inputs. Normally this only happens for a few moments and usually will start working again. When it causes u a poor scores it becomes aggravating. Lastly I've taken note that the letter P on the keyboard normally wont respond like the other keys. I fuss with it most every time I need to press it. Seems fine in landscape mode. This was never an issue with my stock os. Overall the few bugs this has including the known bugs like no HDMI or video rec clicking ect. I like the os. Its far superior to the stock os and worth dealing with the few kinks. The OC features work as they should and the customize options are clean and stand out nicely. Hopefully the dev team keeps working on this and solves the issues. I hope to see an update.

Anyone having issues backing up their apps via Titanium Backup (free) on 12/28?

I haven't used it in some time, but it I installed it last night and tried to run a batch backup of all my apps; every time it will hang after a few minutes. I would either have to battery pull or it would reboot by itself.

I don't seem to recall having this issue the last time I used TiBU a few months ago. I gave up after the third attempt.

Have you seen my POLL? I don't think I had a single reboot with 10-15. I might be able to play with something on the 12-28 files to help it out, but I'll have to work with the other member so they can teach me. As far as the HDMI, I had an idea that I'll try to make it work, but don't count on it working. g60 worked on it and didn't get it to work and he's smarter than I am. We'll see. I have had DUMB luck before.

At a friends showing him the basics of using git and building a Rom. Ended up compiling MTDEV CM7 using the different “init.triumph.rc” from the last Starship Rom and a few different files I was working with trying to resolve the BT Dialer thingy walking him through the process if anyone wants to check it out. Haven't had data but have been using my Triumph along with Groove ip & Google Voice as my Bat phone.

Thumbs up more notes (bugs) and a question

Discovered another bug. When switching from back camera to front camera it will hang then give a popup to force close or wait. Waiting does nothing. After force close you cant go back into camera or u get the same msg. Reboot and open camera it will open in front mode. You can switch to back camera with no crash. I tested the OC settings to see if it would stop the lag/unresponsiveness of the screen that sometimes happens in games. Made no difference with no OC through dangerous OCing. So that's not the culprit. The battery life seems to be decent. And I'm using a cheepo $6 Chinese knockoff battery i got from ebay that has no MHz rating listed on it. I'm positive its less then the OEM battery. Even with wifi always turned on and searching why I'm not at home its getting good life. That I'm happy with since most android phones tend to get bad battery life. Even after weeding out unnecessary background tasks.

Question : is there something I can do to boost wifi and/or single strength? I live out in the middle of no mans land and this would help me tons. I looked in the play store and all I found was "fake" apps that clame they work but then at the end of description it clearly states its fake. Witch I find funny since some people rate the app highly and write a comment boasting about the product. Preferably boosting my wifi and/or single without an app taking up space on my phone and uglying things up would be ideal. I'd use an app at last resort but only if its tested and true. Any ideas...

I call my friend and received call without problem.. whenever call to 611 to virgin mobile, It automatically reboot. Run in stock clock setting at 1020mhz/245mhz and interactive governor. Anyone tell me why??

I just tested 611 on and it worked fine for me. I think some people have different issues. Why this is idk I'm not a programmer. I can suggest what I would do. I'd add the number for VM to my contacts and not use 611. If this is your only problem there is no reason to make a big deal out of it. If its part of a longer list then try starting over again and reinstall the rom. Remember this is not an official android os and there will always be bugs. Especially before a final version and even a lot of finals have sketchy here's and there's. Sorry I didn't have a technical reason to provide u with for your problem or a standout solution. Good luck.

I'm only on 300min unlimited text and data and call the number each time I top up with a CC and never noticed it charged me any mins. I don't think it does. Because u can call that number even with no mins or with if your monthly plan ran out.

The g60 style was a continuation of relaoded, which was a continuation of TG's release, which was started by Issac. MTDEV is a "start from scratch" release that has proven to be more stable. And yeah, the MTDEV is a team of peopple who have worked on the phone as a group. We have passed around ideas and learned off of eachother.

I would have to do some research, but I think that this is that thread. I think that g60 passed ownership over to chairshot so he could do the device work that he did while g60 was consentrating on CM9.

I don't seem to recall having this issue the last time I used TiBU a few months ago. I gave up after the third attempt.
Works fine for me. Are you out of space on SD card? Does it always hang on same app? Maybe try deleting the backup folder on SD card.

Just removed TiBU, deleted its folder and then reinstalled.

I have 2GB free on my SD card. It doesn't hang on the same app, but it usually hangs within the first few minutes.

I've tried updating BusyBox and forcing the system BusyBox instead of the TiBU native, but that had no effect.

I just tried to backup my 112 user apps. When it got to 6/112 JuiceDefender closed (the icon vanished) which usually means that Android is running out of memory.

At 7/112 the phone hung.

I don't know what else to try.

Well I don't load 112 apps but I use AppExtractor from the market. It lets you install apps (as well as sms and mms messages)
from your nandroid backup(s)

@BSydz

Is there any way to flash back to the previous kernel short of flashing the rom again? I tried switching the boot.img file back in download mode and it still shows your kernel

So, I take it you just replaced the boot.img in the mobile partition. That is a very bad idea! That is not the kernel you are looking for. That is our bootloader/recovery kernel. It has different contents than even our stock kernel. All files on the mobile partition(except recovery) are NOT to be touched! I was under the impression that you were using Linux commands to replace the kernel in download mode.

I would suggest doing a nandroid backup before you do anything else.

The first thing that you need to do is put the stock boot.img back on the mobile partition, and don't try to do it this way ever again. That may be causing some of your issues alone.

Second is flash the original ROM, you may have to flash Gapps again but you shouldn't have to wipe anything. You will not loose any data by just flashing the ROM, only Gapps are stored on the system partition so you would flash those as well, if you get force closes with Gapps just clear the app data.

If you just want the original kernel, make a copy of my kernel zip and replace the boot.img with the one from the ROM and flash it.

So I changed my plan from the $35-->$55 plan.

The "3G" notification remains permanently in white and the "signal bars" are just white, too.

Blue indicates that I have data. I can place phone calls and receive text messages.

I just can't surf the web or use my GPS.

It definitely has to be because of the switch to the upgraded plan to $55/m.

Any suggestions? Anything?

@Gaffadin just throwing out more ideas.
1. Try a different SD card or format this one. Maybe bad sectors?
2. Nandroid backup then wipe and flash and only install TiBU and try batch backup. Maybe one of your apps is hogging memory?
3. Wipe dalvik and cache in recovery.

Got it thanks I guess I'll just flash the test one back on. I had the front camera fail me a few times causing a reboot so I figured it probably wasn't helping me much.

I'll probably try to update to a more recent ROM soon.

I haven't bothered with nandroid because the last 4 I made and tried to recover from failed me to the point where I had to start fresh. First 3 were on the stock kernel, 4th was on a relatively fresh setup which failed to start right after recovery.

The change to the theam color means you are logged into your google account. I think that the upgrade process got your msid changed. That's your "modem" phone number. Can you browes with WiFi? I would think you would be able to. Make a nandroid backup and flash the unroot ROM. Then call them up and fix your MSID. After that, and making sure that you have data access, restore your backup.
