Default [Dev-Only] CM10 status

Hi, me again. I do realize that CM9 isn't out of alpha yet but I still want to get Jellybean rolling, as whatever we fix in ics we will have to fix again in jellybean, still some dang code editing :P lol

Okay, so, I have downloaded the source. I will begin the building, but looks like CM isn't very good with the support for 7x30 devices. I learned this from the one v devs.

Any devs feel free to throw suggestions out there. Like before with mantera, I will not post a build until alpha worthy.

If you want to donate to me to help further the cause of this, I would appreciate it very much
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=NLZDMJ8VEMP2C

Please donate to the other guys (Mantera/Tickerguy/etc) through the other CM9 thread. I'm too lazy to get them

STATUS

8/3/12
-Finally got my laptop back. Let's see what more accomplishments I can make without having to compile on a Evo 4g. Lol
-Got past one error. Needed edits to device_triumph.mk because in JB they switched all the permission files to frameworks/native.

8/11/12
-Got the build, all credit goes to mantera because I only contributed 1 file. Lol.

8/14/12
-Got first boot. Everything seems to be working like ICS right out of the box
-Fixed WiFi, (Currently testing)

8/15/12
-Working on Wired Headset. Apparently the code is a b**** and not wanting to comply. I'll take a better crack at it later on in the day, when I have more time.
-Gave up on Wired Headset as the code is way too different. Maybe someone else could help with that. But I'm working on 3g, everything seems to be going well. We might be stable very soon.

CURRENT ERROR

Wow. Right when I was starting to think CM10 wouldn't get any love on the Triumph.

Nice to see you around again, rukin.

Is it just me or does CM10 not have the same ring to it that CM9 and CM7 had?

It will take a while. But I'm sure it will take off just as cm9 and cm7 did.

So, have you set up a git yet? I'd like to pull it down and look at it. I have a few ICS sources to compare it to that may help. I want to start building from source more, now that I understand it better, and have had ideas about the camera for a while. I'm messing with CM7 right now to get ideas on how to get GB rollin on our phones. Thanks for all of your work.

Thanks for trying to help. I set up the device files. That was the only thing I needed to change. I'm setting up the second post with how to build it.

repo init -u git://github.com/mantera/android.git -b jellybean

Will do a complete build. You'll just need to start fixing the rest of the stuff.

What's up guys, how are things coming along? I couldn't get manteras repo to build right off the bat, but I have made it all the way to:

make: *** [out/target/product/triumph/obj/EXECUTABLES/recovery_intermediates/../../device/motorola/triumph/recovery/default_recovery_keys.o] Error 1
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

Is there a command to pull just a single file? I jacked a file up when I was trying to fix it and had to resync everything. I know it was talked about before I just can't find it.

I think I'm gonna need a new hard drive soon, cause I swear I can hear every byte being written and read from it. But, it keeps grinding it out for now.

Good luck guys!

Haven't ran into an error yet. Will update 2nd post when I do.

NOTE: I had to use AOKPs hardware/qcom/display and a file from a friend that goes into the device files. I will update that into the git later.

Edit: updated

It's ok , thanks for everything you have done. I am trying to get hdmi working now before I remove it from the build. I keep getting the error below even though I have it in there. I know I just have to edit it but I have tried a bunch of stuff already..

frameworks/native/include/ui/FramebufferNativeWindow.h:78:20:
error: 'framebuffer_device_t' has no member named 'orientationChanged' , 'setActionSafeWidthRatio' , and setActionSafeHeightRatio

Code:
    void orientationChanged(int orientation) {
        if (fbDev->orientationChanged)
            fbDev->orientationChanged(fbDev, orientation);
    }
    void setActionSafeWidthRatio(float asWidthRatio) {
        if (fbDev->setActionSafeWidthRatio)
            fbDev->setActionSafeWidthRatio(fbDev, asWidthRatio);
    }
    void setActionSafeHeightRatio(float asHeightRatio) {
        if (fbDev->setActionSafeHeightRatio)
            fbDev->setActionSafeHeightRatio(fbDev, asHeightRatio);
    }

Ok, so I got past the hdmi not building, the error above was remedied by editing CM10/hardware/qcom/display/libgralloc/framebuffer.cpp, I referenced CM9 and added those lines. Just in case anybody hits this error.

I also moved the hdmid folder to CM10/frameworks/av/cmds/hdmid/ and made these edits: (I don't know if this is correct, it's just how I did it)

First, in HDMIDaemon.cpp, put "A" in front of all the "LOG"s that don't have something in front of them.

Then in HDMIDaemon.cpp change these.
#include <gui/ISurfaceComposer.h>
#include <gui/SurfaceComposerClient.h>

Then I'm sure I made other edits along the way but that was the hurdle. Hope this helps anybody that needs it.

I love seeing 2 teams working at the same time. One on cm7 and one on cm10. I don't know how this stuff works but there may not even be a need for cm9. I mean if you can start cm10 and all that's wrong is the camera still...you would be working on that with cm9 anyways. Keep it up guys!

Question: Does this boot? Obviously, I can't test... I expect that nothing is probably working. But just wondering if it actually boots.

When I got it to build it said bad file in CWM, I'm sure I can play around with the updater script but haven't messed with it yet. Just got it to build a few hours ago and got sidetracked. If you happen to know what is making it say the zip is bad let me know and I'll try it.

That doesn't sound right. I wonder if it's just a bad copy on your sd card. Try recopying?

Well, after I messed with the updater script it then gave me the "expected so many arguments" error. So I'm gonna just copy the update binary and edit the script to match CM9, I'll post back after I try.

Ok, so I threw the zip in android kitchen to see if it was the kernel and this is what I got. Editing the update binary just threw the same argument error.

Code:
Working folder found
od: boot.img: Permission denied

Android 'magic' header not found at start of boot.img
Checking if it exists elsewhere ...
od: boot.img: Permission denied
Warning: Android header not found in boot.img (unsupported format)

od: boot.img: Permission denied
Error: kernel offset (page size) not found in boot.img!

Press Enter to continue
EDIT: So I looked at CM10 and CM9 in 7zip and under Host OS, the boot.img in CM9 is FAT and CM10 is Unix, dunno if that helps.

I got to about the end of the build and it threw some random error at me. Seeing how BSydz got a build it must be a bad sync or something. I'm going to nuke and try again.

I had to edit some files to get it to build, it didn't just build. I think I had to comment out something in, I think, 2 files in libhwcomposer cause it is no where in the rest of the code, but I can't remember now what else I had to do. I am still fighting with the HDMI right now. I'm fighting with qcom_ui.h error: 'external_display_type' does not name a type, but that code is how it came and built, and is not even edited, I think it is because I added external_display, cause I was getting that error with external_display but managed to work it out. If I build with -j16 it is the only error I have left that I can see. When I hit an error, I do that to see if another error is gonna pop up, so I can fix it while I'm editing. Apparently, I have been at this too long tonight, I gotta go to bed. Just did -j24, 4 times, to see if there would be another error and that is the only error I am getting. Maybe I just need some rest. Good luck guys.

OK so it was the last error, kinda. I pulled an all nighter and figured it out, I think I know how to fix this but just incase I figure I'll post it. This is with GPS and HDMI included. Now I am running into this:

It turns out the upstream updates broke the build. I updated a header file again. resync and it should build all the way now.

Thanks, but I'm still stuck on hwcomposer. I got a prebuilt from jmztaylor, thank god. I'm going to throw that in the build.

According to jmz, Steve broke all 7x30 devices by merging in all his commits because he just can.

If it is the same error I had just use these edits. That is what I was talking about commenting out, in my post above.

hardware/qcom/display/libhwcomposer/hwc.cpp
Code:
//#ifndef NO_HW_VSYNC
//        case HWC_EVENT_VSYNC:
//            if(ioctl(m->framebuffer->fd, MSMFB_OVERLAY_VSYNC_CTRL, &value) < 0)
//                ret = -errno;
//
//            if(ctx->mExtDisplay->getExternalDisplay()) {
//                ret = ctx->mExtDisplay->enableHDMIVsync(value);
//            }
//           break;
//#endif
hardware/qcom/display/libhwcomposer/hwc_external.cpp
Code:
//#ifndef NO_HW_VSYNC
//        case HWC_EVENT_VSYNC:
//            if(ioctl(m->framebuffer->fd, MSMFB_OVERLAY_VSYNC_CTRL, &value) < 0)

Did you update the device files? I just did a build as is and it built fine.

Well, build server is down and I don't have a backup build on my local so I'm not able to make new changes.

Let's see when I get it back.

@BSydz, I think that was fixed due to a recent commit by mantera defining the TARGET_NO_HW_VSYNC := true

Or if you prefer to do what BSydz says, just do this commit:

https://github.com/mantera/android_device_motorola_triumph/commit/1f11dc63d4386d817523eab95ac391278996e159

I reverted it in the commits that I pushed up because it's not needed but this should work also. However, I think we do have hardware vsync capability in the mt so that's why I didn't want to just disable it.

No, it was broken before that. My original fix was to set it to true so that the build would skip that section of code. Once I figured out which header file contained the define that was causing the hwcomposer variable to be undefined, I reverted it back out. I left it in there before pushing just so I had something to remind me that it was there.

I accidentally said broken, I meant to either say fixed or it was broken before.

EDIT: Got a build, thanks to mantera. Let's see how this baby goes.

format() expects 5 args, got 4
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)

So obviously it's asking for 5 args, I don't necessarily know how to change the args. But I can change it after the zip.

Okay, got it to flash, yet no go. It goes past M logo and stops at a black screen. Adb recognizes the device but shows no logcat. Just stops as soon as it starts.

Seeing how there was no errors during the build, it's hard to stay what exactly the problem is, but it's going to be hard without a logcat.

BUT, we are moving closer.

Ok, I think I got the zip file fixed. resync and try again and see if the new zip file will flash and boot.

It flashes fine but it is a blank backlit screen. Which version kernel is this? Also Is this kernel in your git? Just want to try some stuff with the kernel, I want to try to build it with the system. I have an ICS kernel I was working on, maybe I can compare the 2 and see if anything is missing. Thanks for your work, you are a champ.

EDIT: If it is the 2.3.65 kernel then I know why it wont boot.

OK, so I finally managed to get it to build with HDMI and GPS enabled in the build. The device files just need to be updated and reworked. Still no boot but figured I'd put it out there.

Got advice from Jmz and am trying his methods. Let's see if we can get it booted.

EDIT: BSydz if you could try this build that would be awesome. Don't have access to my triumph until tomorrow.

Don't forget the nandroid and all.
