Default [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

README:
Welcome to Cyanogen Mod 9.0.0 Stable! This ROM is being developed by MTDEV. Now that the code is stable expect to see improvements on the ROM moving forward.

THANKS:
MTDEV would like to thank Mantera for creating and maintaining the source code and sharing it with all of us at Android Forums. MTDEV is privileged and honored to continue forward with this ROM! Thank You Mantera for all you gave to our Community!!! We would also like to thank Dorregaray, IssacJ, Tickerguy, Whyzor, yumbrad, PerkinsII, progmanos, NateMcKn, edowar, LorDClockaN, TwistedUmbrella, exsitz, Lloir, dzo, Dorregaray for his work on camerahal, and finally BSydz for his work on the kernel!!! With out the hard work of the names listed above this ROM would not exist.

KNOWN ISSUES
∙ 3G Disconnects (Toggle Airplane mode to get data to start up again)
* Partial Camera
∙ Tethering (USB)
∙ HDMI

FIXED
∙ Netflix streaming
∙ Hard Keys currently don't light up (these can be enabled through Settings < Display < Brightness < Automatic Brightness)
∙ Tethering WiFi - Testing needs to be done

KERNEL
∙ A slightly modified version by BSydz.

DOWNLOAD:
MTDEV CM9 Rom Browser

INSTALL:
Follow these simple instructions if you’ve never flashed a ROM on the MT. If upgrading from a previous CM9, it is HIGHLY recommend to always do a full wipe data/factory reset & advanced -> dalvik-cache in recovery mode. If you simply wipe both caches and install the ROM you will be carrying over parts of the last ROM. If you need to carry over settings here is a written guide [Guide] How to Backup and Restore Apps and Data when installing new ROMs. Android Market/Play is not included for legal reasons, you MUST flash gapps.zip.

POST INSTALL:
Once you have booted up, please reboot your phone so WiFi will work properly. Not needed anymore.

Tools to help me help you:
Better Battery Stats. It will show wakelocks and other information that will help with diagnosis.
Current Widget It will show when the battery has been discharging/charging and how fast.
System Tuner I use the pro version, but the free one will do just fine for most users. It can take the place of quite a few app that I used (Terminal Emmulater, incedivolt, setCPU....)

DONATIONS:
Your donations are very much appreciated. All funds are strictly used to help better MTDEV releases be that website or workstation upgrades for all Team Members

Very cool. Definitely looking forward to future updates for CM9.

Also, I'd love to try this out but the link is broken, and the only ROM in the /cm9 folder is labeled CM7. Is it still being uploaded?

Awesome job guys!

Only bug I've found so far is "Settings" keeps FC'ing. Annnd seems like the hardware buttons(?) don't light up.

Edit: The buttons seemed to randomly light up. >.>

Thanks for continuing this development G60!! I just want to note, that ever since manteras final build i have had one ongoing issue, the live wallpaper, nexus in my case, will freeze and i can drag down the notification bar but nothing shows up. Another thing is my voicemail notification will not go away...

Thanks again!!!

I think if you go into "Settings" when you can (try a reboot) then "Display" and turn on "Auto Adjust" for screen brightness and then turn it off the buttons should stay lit. This will need to be done after each reboot if I remember correctly.

Have you tried leaving a voicemail on your phone and checking it again?

This happens to me on occasion when I get flash happy and seems to clear it up.

I just tried this and it seems fine. Are you doing a full wipe and dalvik cahce? I just tested and the Nexus live wallpaper works perfect along with the notifications drop down windows. I can't test voice mail as I have this loaded on my dev phone and I don't have service.

No, I just flashed yours on top of maneras final build. I guess I could go back and wipe stuff though.... maybe if it becomes a bigger deal. Usually after it freezes, it will come back after 30-60 seconds or so.

On all MTDEV ROM's we recommend that you do full wipes & dalvik on each update. This will cause less issues for you in the long run as new code is being inserted from one version to the next. This is even more true for CM9 as this code is going under constant updates from CyanogenMod on a daily basis.

Awesome job. Im in love with this rom!

Some things I noticed.

1. Haptic feedback dosent turn off.
2. My buttons do not light up.
3. Settings will force close very often.
4. Wifi does not stay connected

I can send a logcat if that would help out.

Cataulin,

Since this is Alpha there will be many bugs in this ROM. Expect the ROM to become more solid in the weeks to come, however also expect lots of issues as well I suppose we could have held off on releasing so soon but I know everyone is wanting some CM9/CM10, including myself. I just ask to be patience with the process. As I am sure you saw with MTDEV-CM7 it went through some rapid development and lots of bugs got ironed out in as little as 15 days. So expect the same here, it just may take a little longer as this is a new animal for MTDEV, and we need to wrap ourselves around the code for a while.

Edit: updated the first post to reflect this

Sweet it's finally here!!!I was also thinking on the camera I know that when the new kernel was put in that the CM9 ROM wouldnt boot........well I thought that the kernel not only controls the camera but all other aspects of our phone. And seeing this kernel was from another phone that is similar to our phone I think the fix on the booting issue is that the permissions need to be changed to the ones that go with the phone that it came from(if that makes sense).

There was this kernel from another phone that mantra was testing. The kernel was from an Indoneian phone that is similar to ours.It was running ICS with a working camera but when mantra tried it it wouldn't boot. When I thought about it I figured that maybe the permissions on that phone was different than from our Triumph and that if we change the permissions we can get it to boot.Make more sense?

Yeah I have been working on that kernel with mantera. It's all in the works don't worry Also looks like CM9 will be releasing the stable code tonight so we will be locking the code down and working on it more. Maybe a day or two before we release the next build.

Are there any plans to bring back the default ICS multitasking? I can't speak for others, but I know I prefer it to the Sense style.

Wow! Love the Rom! For me it has way better battery life than the the CM7 rom and feels smoother . I was wondering if it was possible to include the Google Now flash able zip that was released on xda with the rom ?

Default CM9 thanks

I had a alpha build of ICS a while back and loved it, so far this is even better. Two questions. My battery seems to drain a lot fasted, and are u still working on the camera? I saw a post that said Cyanogen was moving to CM10 and not working to much on CM9.

Right now MTDEV is focused on CM9. Because CM Team just finalized the code this will allow us to have the most solid release possibe.

Since this is alpha code we will be working on Battery issues as we move forward. Yes we are focused on the camera and also HDMI as HDMI is now included in the source code unlike CM7. Also this is perfect for us as the CM9 code is stable now, so this means we can edit the code to fit our device.

No worries Cataulin, I didn't want it to come off like a slam. Once we get to Beta you are welcome to post errors, right now there is a lot of things that need to be looked at and fixed. Will get there

I've downloaded the 08092012 file but my MD5 doesn't match the OP

This is the MD5 sum I get with the file:

805237FFA5E286B9256AD915CD4251FB

Should I re-download?

I may have missed typed as I was copying from another computer window. It should be working fine. I will be releasing another version soon with the stable code now that CM9 is stable and I will make sure to get the right MD5!!

It will probably still be a while. Our code is merged into the stable CM9 code. It is possible it could make it easier, though probably not.

Oh sorry meant to quote treysmith

Nice one although I do think the camera will be fixed much sooner than we all think. The MTDEV guys seem pretty spot on when it comes to implementing fixes into a ROM.

Especially since our brothers in ideos x6 land already have a half-working ICS camera build and also [WIP] - ICS Camera HAL for 2.6 kernel - xda-developers

Yep. We just need to get it connected to the kernel.

I'm about to test this thing out. Gonna see if there's still any issues with (I'm assuming) the GPU. Since I saw visual artifacts with the MTDEV CM9-RC2 build, I will investigate if I am still getting them on the stable. Then we'll know if this is an issue with our drivers or was just a glitch up in CM9. Unfortunately, I'm guessing it's the former. Just a few days back, I was getting plenty of Chrome crashes and funky graphics on Firefox. I cannot code, but I will look for more issues when I am done with this one. I will get back on this issue shortly.

Mike I appreciate you wanting to post issues however we are aware of the problems. Again this is an alpha ROM its going to take us some time to resolve issues please wait till we get to beta

Ran into a bunch of issues with the Play Store, unrelated to this ROM, of course. However, Play Store issues are pretty random and common, so I will create another FAQ one day for CM9 and include instructions on how to fix these issues when I have time. But there is one issue I do not believe is too obvious... Let me at least see if it's gone in this latest build. The other issues, I know you guys can handle. I will wait until beta until I search for any more bugs, however. UPDATE: That GPU does act glitchy in Chrome and Firefox with Google Search. I understand this is alpha, but I will make note of this and see if it's still around when you guys hit beta. I won't look for any more bugs now. Good look to you guys with CM9! As a side note, I will create another FAQ with some new info for CM9 when it hits stable around here.

Looks like the site is down for maintenance for the weekend. I'll try and post them up later tonight for cm7 and cm9

I know we have had this issue with all our ICS builds. I remember seeing some other phone have this issue with Chrome, and a dev was able to figure out it had to due with the ICS Adreno Drivers or the lack of. Now I am no developer of Android, but hopefully this information helps our MTDEV team.
