The unresponsiveness is getting a little annoying, I can't update the touchscreen drivers in the kernel without loosing the touchscreen altogether. There were some changes made to CM9 from CM7, and I haven't figured out how to rewrite the driver to work yet. Right now I believe we are using a prebuilt file that is causing the problem with updating the drivers.

I'm back working on this ROM, I got tangled in a CAF ICS mess, it is crazy how much stuff is kernel dependent in the build process for CAF sources. It is almost a how to guide on what is needed in the kernel, except it doesn't tell you how to add it.

I'll be posting a new release in the next few days.

Thank you for the feedback everybody.
I am using a case actually, I'll try it out for a couple of days without it and drop back in to let you know.

I updated to your latest release by the way and it's still my absolute favorite ROM I've ever used. The responsiveness doesn't at all kill it for me, just a bit frustrating at times.

I removed ParanoidAndroidOTA via Titanium and haven't been getting the FC's with it (obviously), that's been nice too.

Looking forward to another release!

i absolutely love the rom and would love to use it but i used the first release and of course the headphones didnt work i use them quite frequently, then when the second release came out that fixed the headphones then the wifi tethering quit working wether i use a third party app or the roms tethering it reboots the phone, i tried reflashing re downloading then reflashing and nothing the tethering reboots the phone. i really cant wait for the next release that gets the tethering working it will be my daily then but until then keep up the good work..

Update. Went out to breakfast, no wifi hot spot ( cheap restaurant), also no 3G data connection.

Had to toggle airplane mode to get 3g back.

I will try to duplicate this.

Is there a way to increase the font size in settings? My old eyes are having a difficult time reading the small text.

You can change the size under Settings > System > Font size. There's a 'large' and 'huge' setting you can go to from where it is standard.

horrible gps..

so i just used this rom on a 4hr trip this weekend and the gps failed within 30 mins. it also took a while to find a signal at first, like the old stock rom, and then it was working well. however, after about 25-30 mins, the phone rebooted automatically. when i tried to relaunch either google maps or navigation, the app would freeze and force close. i tried fiddling around with the phone vs tablet dpi and had the same results. the phone also got unusually hot...

luckily i had a nandroid and restored back to the u9000 rom, gps locked within seconds and never lost signal/ force closed. im back to using the u9000 and will not go back until we can work out a better gps, because i can live with a half-working camera, but absolutely need gps in case i get lost when driving to new places

i was using the jan 13 build.

What's up everybody? It took a little longer than expected, but I just finished a new build. It's amazing how much trouble one file can cause. I started from scratch and figured out a bunch of stuff about what we need to make this work. This should be a very stable build and most everything should work. Let me know how it goes. I have a base folder setup now so there should be stable releases from now on. I will be pushing the code to github in the coming days, just give me some time to get everything together, now that I have it set.

Flashed the Feb 15 version last night.

Man I've got nothing to report. Everything that is supposed to be working is working for me.

I was on the original flash but needed my camera so I restored back to cm7 for a while.

Can I flash "Google Now" over the standard Gapps, and then flash the Symlinked Gapps?

I just restored my nandroid of this and installed this over the top followed by the symlinked gapps. It all seems OK, but every now and then it'll reboot into recovery mode? (Normally overnight) which means my alarm doesn't go off in the morning.

Any idea how to trace this and work out why?

I'm not sure, I think it might just be a jellybean thing. Not too much info out there about it.

Sorry about your experience, I had some issues between builds, Jan13 was a bad build. The GPS is probably never gonna get as good as the Sharp or U9000 ROMs, that is just a fact of life until somebody figures out how to enable AGPS in the builds. I have searched high and low to figure out what we need to enable it in the build but there are no answers out there just rants about GPS.

Thanks, the Gapps all have to do with the system partition, so if you install a ROM it wipes the system partition. That will wipe any Gapps, cause they are usually installed to system, and any symlinks that are in place of the files in the system to free space. With the new build I have trimmed a lil over 10MB from the finished package, and that seems to clear up a few issues with sporadic files not being installed. But I have yet to be able to get Now to install after Gapps. It may work now with more space but I doubt it. You can always try though.

I have not seen any reboots to recovery, though I have seen the phone reboot while just sitting on my desk, but only once or twice. When I checked the last_kmsg it had to do with the wifi. The one thing that I can say is, if you were using the Jan 13 build then that may be a cause of some issues. I had been messing with the system when I got the feedback for the headset not working, I put together a build real quick not realizing that some of the changes I had made were bad. But I have never had this ROM reboot to recovery before. I would suggest a fresh install, then nandroid backup, then restore just the data from your previous nandroid and see if that fixes it.

Thanks for the feedback everybody.

For anybody interested, I have the PA ICS repo all set up. It should be all ready to build. The only error that you may come across is, I included the Overlay.cpp and .h from mantera and they may conflict with the OverlayHTC stuff. Either comment out BOARD_USES_HTC_CAMERA in the BoardConfig, or comment out Overlay.cpp in frameworks/base/libs/ui/Android.mk. Other than that, this should be up to date with my Feb 15 release.

[HIGH]repo init -u git://github.com/BSydz/android.git -b ics[/HIGH][HIGH]./rom-build.sh triumph -j#[/HIGH]# = how many processor cores you have

Did you format the card while it was in the phone or did you format it on a PC? I have formatted my card several times on a PC but have not formatted it while in the phone.

If you did format in the phone I would re-format it in a pc.

A lot of computers have SD card slots. If you don't have access to a PC with a card slot there are SD to USB adapters. However it might be time to pickup a new SD card.

Anyone else have any suggestions for the op?

Default Camera Test

So, I pulled in some changes from adamto and put together a test build.

This is basically just a camera test, it should be stable but I did change some video stuff. At this point the back camera focuses takes a picture and flashes. The video will preview and the auto focus will go crazy, but it won't save anything, and will make the camera force close. Panorama works. FFC does not work, if you switch to the FFC it will lock the app til you force close, clear the app data and reboot. Let me know how it goes.

Warning!!! The auto focus goes crazy when in video mode, video mode doesn't record any way so I don't recommend trying it too often. It's not too crazy but it probably isn't good. It is fine in other modes as far as I can tell.

Been running this since last night. Phone was locked up this morning and alarm didn't go off. I think it maybe SD Card related as I am still having problems with CWM. I think I'll start a new thread about that. Had to pull the battery to get it going. I installed the image over the top of the CM9 image from the other day. No noticeable side effects from that, but I have a full Titanium Backup all ready to go if I need to wipe/data and cache and start again.

It's running smooth for me no issues outside the ones I've stated before with video calling apps.BSydz do you have a log of the camera changes that have been made between the Feb15 and the Feb25 build?I'm very curious why the fix to the saving and rotation of the camera would break the ability to enable video on apps like Skype and ooVoo.

New problem I noticed since yesterday. If wifi is off and the screen is off, I lose radio signal. When I switch back on I have a little R (roaming?) which never changes back to 3g. I have to do a switch to airplane mode and back again to regain 3g. I tend to leave wifi off to conserve battery. The CM9 Camera test doesn't have this issue. I just reflashed the image and gapps over the top of my settings to see if it would fix thing, it didn't. Any ideas?

I can't reproduce any of this, so I can't comment on it. But, installing ROMs on top of other ROMs is not a very good idea. While they both have CM9 as a base the system, the kernels, and the settings are different. I also didn't just drop in all the changes from adamto. I had been working on some stuff and only brought in what was necessary. That is why I need it tested and it was not put in the OP.

I appreciate the feedback but I can't support the issues if it is not a clean install, especially when it is between different ROMs, there are too many variables. I have however installed this over the previous release of PA, I wiped cache installed ROM, Now and Symlinked Gapps. I have had no issues what so ever. Sorry I can't help more.

JUST flashed this minutes ago and already diggin it, proximity sensor problem with latest CM9 was killin me! Anyway, thanks Bsydz, I like how everything is smaller on screen allowing you to see much more than any other ROM I've tried before too. Looking forward to tomorrow again, thanks to all developers making my Triumph as it should have been out of the box!

Clean install, but similar problem. I am in an area of fringe coverage. It seems when it drops off the network it never comes back on. It has the R symbol by signal which suggests it's logged into a different network (or thinks it is). Not sure how I can document what it's doing?

Unfortunetly, it means it's unusable at the moment as it effectively drops off the cellular network and no longer receives SMS/MMS, calls etc.

Anyone else seeing this?

I have been using Juicedefender. I tried disabling that, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

A bit more testing. hen Wifi is off, and I'm stationary at work (phone on desk) the 3g stays active. I stuck the phone in my pocket and drove to the local Walmart and got the dreaded R again. Airplane mode toggle got me a full 3g signal again. I have since decided to turn Wifi on leave it on, I haven't noticed the problem since.

I will update here and tell you if I get an R again when I go home. I suspect it's something to do with the Wifi Toggle.

I have since removed Juicedefender and rebooted.

The CM9 test from last weekend does not have this peculiarity.

So to summarize: Turn off wifi, put phone in pocket, drive a few miles, I will lose 3g and radio coverage and have a signal bar with an R by it. The wake up screen will say Searching for Service.

Update- just got home. Keeping Wi-Fi on made the radio stay on too.

A few things about this ROM.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, it's not significant, but the keys at the bottom don't light up. I was able to get them to light up after taking display brightness all the way to the dimmest possible and bringing it back up manually with the slider. After this the keys lit up. Although they don't light up consistently.

Another suggestion, this ROM is laggy. I read that on the HTC One V they trimmed down the ICS ROM and effects to make it less resource hungry and more responsive. I haven't used the HTC One V personally. It has the same processor and ram as the Triumph so it would make sense to trim down this ROM as they did with the HTC Once V.

Nevertheless, this is very good work and it's awesome. I love this ROM.

I have the same problem with the dropping signal...did a clean install.

But this problem started occurring before I had pa...I was using cm9 and the same problem occurred. Its seems to have started occurring in the last 2 days.

I've noticed this issue too.I only use Wi-Fi at home with my phone cause service sucks but when I went out I got the R with the x on service 4 times while I was out and about. But when I have Wi-Fi on at home I don't have any issues. But yeah leaving Wi-Fi on KILLS the battery

The proximity sensor makes me want to huck the phone against the wall every time I try and hang up a call and have to wait the 3-4 seconds for sensor to work faster. Is this an issue with the ROM or me ? Thanks much, other than this I freagin DIG this ROM.

I'm guessing that you have a case on your phone, because I have 2 phones and no issues with the proximity sensor. Also if this is on going from ROM to ROM then it is your case or the phone. The proximity sensor is to the right of the Motorola logo at the top of the phone, so check for blemishes or the case getting in the way. Also there was a brief discussion about this earlier in the thread. So check that stuff out and get back to me with a few more details. Hope this helps.

I actually have the same issue. When I hang up a call it takes 4 to 5 seconds for the screen to come back on so i can click end call. When I ram Miui 2.4.2 ROM and also the Sharp ROM I did not have this issue at all.

Default Calling all Gamers!

Ok, all you gamers out there, I think I have fixed the GPU drivers in the kernel. I don't know all the games that would reboot the device, so I need your help. I have tested this with Shadowgun Deadzone and finally got to play it. I found where the GPU drivers came from after messing with kernels all week, they are modified Xperia Play drivers. I was looking in to the Play 2.6.32.9 kernel to see what they had done to make it ICS compatible. I tried to add our stuff in and build it, but never got it to boot after I got it to build. There are some major differences, so I decided to take some stuff from it, after fighting with the kgsl drivers I figured out that board-msm7x30.c needed the kgsl info from board-semc_zeus.c to build properly. I also found that we were missing some related stuff. So I added what we needed and tested it out and found that it still rebooted. I then looked at the drivers and found that a handful were different but basically the same, so I replaced those and here we are.

I need some people to test out games and see if this has fixed any issues with games that would not previously work on PA/CM9.

This is built with the latest kernel updates from adamto and myself, but I have not integrated any of my test work, so no camera updates sorry. If this works out I will get the changes pushed to my github for any other devs who want to incorporate this. I do not know if this will work with CM7 cause the drivers are a lil different, but we may be able to get what we need from an Xperia Play CM7 kernel.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Just flash in recovery.

BSydz, you sir, are a wizard. I threw every game I could at it, trying to crash it but hoping it wouldn't and it stood up to all of them. From Bloons TD 5 to Temple Run 2, your kernel handled all of them with aplomb. These are games that would reboot even on the stock ROM and now they are working flawlessly.

Also, the camera is working as it always has. (Back Cam works perfectly, with correct orientation). Snapchat FC's when the send button is hit after taking a picture, though.

Thanks, I have been sitting here like a giddy little kid waiting for somebody to respond. It seems to have fixed almost all of the lag anywhere in the system, I have just been going through opening everything on my phone to see how it loaded. I am really hoping that this was the reason for some of the random reboots. I also added some memory stuff as well, so we'll see how it goes. I opened Angry Birds Space and didn't have time to think before it loaded, had me feeling like I got a new phone.

flashed this over latest CM9 camera build, and it's working great. made dragonvale almost as smooth as butter. i tested it on 3 games that constantly crashed/rebooted my phone before (angry gran run, stickman golf, and one other) and they all worked perfectly.

Is the data drop issue present in this test build?

Real racing 3 works! It's got some lag but no reboots! Also haven't seen any random reboots today. That is usually a daily occurrence.

EDIT: 24 hours later and still reboot free! I hope this fixed that permanently.

I have been running your new kernel from the PA thread all day, and it's great! It's much more responsive, and I believe the touchscreen is working more reliably. I'm wondering if this is what's currently checked in, because I am using it under CM9 and the preview is working fine.

I have an idea to free up a few MB of RAM by disabling HDMI and reducing some kernel buffer sizes, and I would love to try it with this kernel.

The kernel is what I pulled when you made your changes. I just grabbed it from the folder and made the changes and and built it, the init scripts may be different, as I used my latest PA boot.img which had some init tweaks. I have been working on some tweaks to the init.triumph.rc and the ueventd.triumph.rc, we will need these to be correct just as much as the kernel itself. I am still learning permissions, but I think there are some things we need to fix in there. Also I am working on the hdmi so I don't want to take that out just yet myself. That was just a tossed together test build, that I had to see if it was just a couple games that it fixed or if it was a valid fix. I have added a few more things and gotten a few things smoothed out, I also think that I set the gpu back to 2Mb for that build instead of 4 that it has been set at in the past, I'm still running it at 2MB and have had no issues. I'll push it to git probably tomorrow or the next day, don't want to push some bad code. Plus, I have now integrated the fix into my latest kernel, so that would be the one you want to use anyway, since that is what I have been working on lately.

I have put together a test build that I need completely tested. I have changed a bunch of code, updated the kernel and permissions, basically this is a totally new build. This has the updated graphics drivers along with a little progress on the camera. The camera now makes the video file but doesn't record, that is about the only thing different with the camera, remember if you switch to the front cam you will have to force close and clear the apps data then reboot the phone for the cam to work. I changed tons of stuff so there is too much for me to test and I don't have any bluetooth accessories to check the BT. I don't have a change log, but if everything goes well then I will put one together when it is released.

Let me know how it goes.
