Default Anime/Manga not so ultimate otaku Lounge

Since Yeahha and me were discussing Manga and Anime a bit too much in Forum Games ,EarlyMon suggested a formation of Okatu Thread .
Feel Free to discuss Manga and Animes esp. Naruto and Bleach .

To start the thread ,January should bring the Confining the Jinchuriki Arc with the epic battle of Naruto vs Kyubi ? Any thoughts ?

Main Mangas/Anime Involved :The Shonen Three (earlier two )
Naruto
Bleach
One Piece

Alternative Animes :
Brave 10
FLCL
Demonbane
Code Geass
07 Ghost

Ahh this means I will have to start watching the anime...

It will be interesting to see if and how they expand on the flashback in battle that details his birth as well as his reaction to meeting the person he does and what he is told about that about them. I could also see a small anime only arc coming up soon since it is not that far behind the manga and 1 episode can span several chapters. I don't think the current manga arc ending too quickly when you think about all that still has to happen in the series

Hey, I like the anime, with subtitles. Gives lots of verbal cues, tone of voice, character personality, language nuances - while still making the story accessible.

Plus - it's anime.

With manga being drawn in the same style I think you still get a good feel personality as well.

Personally I can't stand the English voices used in the translations, the Japanese voice actors do a much better job show (IMO) expressing the characters emotions even if I can't understand Japanese compared to the English version.

Has anyone seen the OVAs or movies? I have seen the first Naruto movie and the first Bleach movie but haven't got around to finding/watching any of the others.

I've seen the Cowboy Bebop movie, that's it though for me.

Keep meaning to check out the movies in Crunchyroll - I started one, it was kind of out there - read: pretty cool start.

It's been said (and I once agreed) that Sushi K from Neil Stephenson's Snow Crash is possibly the worst lyricist in fiction - his attempt at a concert left people so incensed that lives were lost.

I think Killer Bee is actually worse.

Yeah there has been more than 1 I believe and a musical there may be a live action movie release as well which should be interesting, not sure what arc they would try to do my guess is they would start at the begining of the series and go thru the soul society arc until Rukia is saved.

As far as Killer Bee's rap/poems I haven't seen the anime so I don't know if they do a better job conveying what he is doing better than the manga but it is horrible IMO, I think it is kinda funny when Naruto tries to or has rap.

The anime for Killer Bee's raps almost hurt!

Near as I can tell, the subtitles are accurate, his delivery is completely narcissistic in tone of voice, and he violates every sense of rhythm in the Japanese language. To make matters worse, he sprinkles in English for street cred.

I have heard, and even encouraged, some whacked singing in Tokyo bars, and I can guarantee that he sets a new standard for low performance!

I watch on my phone, with headsets - when his first rhyme came up, I was immediately on the volume buttons with one hand, ripping off my headset with the other.

Meanwhile - Naruto Shippunden The Lost Tower movie looks interesting, I think I'll see if I can track down a copy to watch on the HDTV.

Sorry, it's over already.

Go for Crunchyroll if you want to watch on your phone, free in the Market, or add dot com to that to find it on the web.

Japanese with subtitles, but so much better. The adult swim stuff is Americanized, and not just the language dubbing.

Yeah the localization isn't very good IMO.

Just finished the 4th Naruto Shippunden movie (interrupted by sleep and a football game but wasn't bad) When watching you have to remember what part of the series it is in. After Jiraiya dies but before Naruto battles Pain. Otherwise when Naruto meets Minato I am sure other questions would have been asked

Too funny!

Android Has Its Own Japanese Manga Comic

Sweet Android Highschool chronicles the pursuits of the world’s most notable Android vendors, including Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola and Sony Ericsson. However, instead of referencing them by their brand name, this comic refers to each of the manufacturers with the following names:

Moto-Laura-chan (Motorola)

Sam-Sung-chan (Samsung)

H-T-Syee-chan (HTC)

Elle-G-chan (LG)

Soni-Eri-chan (Sony Ericsson)

After seeing the Moto cat ears on Moto-Laura-chan, I really want to match up the characters.

And Apple-kun is the boy on the left. I like the stem on his head.

This has got to be a great manga.

EDIT -

Apple, Oak tail (??) Fujitsu, LG, Samsung, Sharp, Sony-Ericson, HTC, Motorola

Funny moment Naruto Shippuden Episodio 223 Killer Bee ENKA CONCERT - YouTube

@Yeahha
The Fourth Movie is somewhat before Sasuke Retrival Arc probably just after Hidan and Kakuzu Arc . Third Shippuden is much better than fourth one .

/manga spoiler

/bleach
Removing Aizen,Gin,Hollow Ichigo and Zangetsu in one arc doesnt look like a wise decision . I was actually hoping to see Aizen's or Kyoraku's bankai

/android manga
that looks interesting

/Naruto shippuden 4th movie
I am sure it happened after Jiraiya dies since Naruto states his teacher is now dead. Now how it could actually fit is beyond me since after he dies Naruto goes to do the training to gain sage mode then comes back and fights pain right away. But I suppose I shouldn't expect movies to be cannon.

/manga spoilers

/bleach
Yeah I agree if the live action movie goes like I expect it will rush thru many important parts but I really don't think the writers/producers will care. It will draw money and more than likely be made into some sort of love story...Of course I hope I am wrong and just use to American movies based on other forms of media, perhaps in Japan it will be done right.

There are quite a few animes/mangas that involve different versions of Shinigami some with more traditional type Death God or Grim Reaper roles like Death Note. Others are responsible for keeping some form of balance in the world like Bleach or Soul Eater.

Ahh black and white the true colors of a death god

So I watched the 4th Bleach movie (Bleach: The Hell Verse) it was pretty good, you get to see a full hollow Ichigo and how powerful he is in that state, plus it shows him being even more powerful (and being able to control it unlike his hollow state) at the end of the movie with another state, no spoilers here

And believe it or not, _precisely_ a key point in selecting that avatar. I was looking at Ryuku originally, but it hit me that would be an impersonation.

So I watched the 4th Bleach movie (Bleach: The Hell Verse) it was pretty good, you get to see a full hollow Ichigo and how powerful he is in that state, plus it shows him being even more powerful (and being able to control it unlike his hollow state) at the end of the movie with another state, no spoilers here
OK, sold. On my list as of right now.

With his skin tone it almost reminds me of the banned loony tunes and Disney cartoons of the past that were banned for stereotypes

And we're just going to get treated to more and more of him.

I have to give credit where credit is due.

I didn't think that they could do a worse job on a character than Guy Sensei. In fact, all the Cloud people leave something to be desired.

Anyway - at least it's time to be off the boat and moving the action forward.

I like the thumb's up and the ping that goes with it. I like his drive. I get he's a good guy at heart.

I also get Guy's personality seems one sided.

B's skin tone? I think he and his Kage are modeled more after Hulk Hogan.

Funniest guy from the Cloud has got to be the dolt with the sucker. The stuff he worries about lays me out.

Talk about opening up a whole new world, I just want to say thanks!

I am still slow on the manga uptake but will get there.

/NS anime

Anyone watching after the credits at the end? Some of the follow on stuff is better than some episodes. My favorite has been the reference to Pervy Hedgehog.

/bleach

Just watched the 3rd movie. Agree the fourth was better but it it still beat a lot of things I could have spent that time on. Overall, I liked it for the unusual character reactions to the situation.

/dumb question

Is there an eyebrow meme I'm missing? Anyone watch the Fooly Cooly series? Sorry to go OT, but had to ask if they were related.

I love the omakes !!! .Though I have skipped all the fillers . Last episode I saw was the Second Kage meeting just before journey (The one with the Enka Concert )

/Bleach
Bleach is very near to the manga and they have good fillers unlike naruto (They could show First ,Second or Third Ninja Wars or How Kakashi gained the Mangekyou )

I love FLCL I've seen it too many times both subbed and dubbed! And read the manga. It was the only anime I could force my sister to watch so now she has a very odd view on what anime is.

/bleach DDR
I didn't like the DDR movie that much but I watched it on a cell phone so it might be better with a bigger screen
