My favorite is Denzel Washington. I have enjoyed every movie I've ever seen him in. With all the terrible movies in the last few years, I always know I'm safe spending money if Denzel is in it.
Gene Hackman.
To me his characters are believable. He makes me think he really thinks he's that character.
I loved the chemistry between him and Denzel in Crimson tide, one of my favorite movies ever.
Denzel would probably be my second favorite followed by Travolta.

Denzel Washington as well. His acting is a work of art. It's very real. He completely outshines anyone in any movie he does. I'm so suprised he only won 1 Oscar. In the end of the day, his body of work speaks for itself. I also love Robert Deniro and Al Pacino.

My close second, based on your explanation of Denzel Washington, is Edward Norton for exactly the reasons you stated. His work in films like American History X are the stuff of legend.
How can I forget Clint Eastwood??? He's up there as well. One of my favorite movies from him is The Good,The Bad, and The Ugly.....and I'm not even into western films. It just shows you how awesome of an actor he is. I absolutely love his work. He's a total badass.

Well he is able to play a wide variety of characters from Jake LaMotta in Raging Bull 1980 to James Conway in Goodfellas 1990 to Fearless Leader in Rocky and Bullwinkle 2000 to Captain Shakespeare in Stardust 2007 to Hunter in Killer Elite 2011

My only issue with Deniro is that he's done some stinkers. If I recall correctly, he even admitted doing some just for the money. Still think I prefer Pacino overall.
Now if we are talking best single performance then that's different. Deniro wins that one. Him and Brando. You know where I'm headed with that one
i read in the internet that he is in production in making TAKEN 2, i've read that he & his wife gets kidnapped by the son of the Sheik he killed in the first installment. you must check out The Grey if you haven't? Good Flick...

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't seen it yet.
Ryan Reynolds .. idk what about him, but I enjoy every movie he is in.. from his college days as vanwilder to being a waiter in waiting, and his more recent roles in the change up and Safe house
I guess I can say Clint Eastwood. He's been around since the late 1950s (Rawhide), and haven't stop making good movies since. I loved those spaghetti westerns of the '60s.
Put me down for Clint as well. Not only as an actor but writer, producer and director as well.
Think I have more Malpaso movies in my DVD collection than anything else.
From his early movies like 'Play Misty... ' to his masterful turn as Harry Callaghan and the mysterious Joe in Sergio Leone's classic spaghetti westerns and to his later roles (especially 'Unforgiven') I always look forward to anything he works on.
Go Clint Go!

Return of the Dragon is my favorite, Game of Death would've been Epic if he would've complete it. instead he jump in making Enter the Dragon. the continue G of Death. but his untimely death couldn't complete it. he didn't get a chance to enjoy Enter the Dragon's release.
Different ones for different reasons, Liam Neeson, Jack Nicholson, Samuel L Jackson, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, because I think they are all fantastic actors in certain films.
Hahah. Yeah, he is pretty good, but out of all of them I listed, it's between Robert and Denzel. Robert actually plays his Roles pretty good, although, he rarely gets a big Role... He's hilarious most of the time though. xD Denzel did a fantastic Role in Safehouse though!

Denzels great (all hail Denzel), but, there's been some others suggested that i find equally great = liam neeson, and sean bean (maybe game of thrones has me biased on that one)
Others that are great:
- Luke wilson (maybe not the best actor, but his expresions are brilliantly funny)
- Will Smith (don't particularly like him, or any of his films, but he's a good actor - or at least he acts like he is, lol)
Jeff Daniels (the first episode of the newsroom was brilliant)
Don't think I saw it yet, but I really like Jeff Bridges. True Grit was great (though I think he was outshined by Hailee Steinfeld) and of course Big Labowski. Tron I think was a flop, but he did well in it.
George Clooney is another favorite. The Descendents was such a great movie.

Why should an actor taking a few roles for money discredit them as favorite? It is how they make a living, and actors don't always have their choice of roles. Point being, does that really take away from Deniro's performances in other films?

I like all of these actors. I don't see how they are related though. Especially Riggle.
- Jeff Bridges is great, particularly in Big Lebowski.
- Jim Carrey is one of the few comedic actors that has managed to keep making funny movies over the years. He's delivered some great dramatic performances as well.
- I like Nathan Fillion. He's a lot of fun to watch, and he really seems to enjoy what he does.
- John Noble caught my attention in Lord of the Rings: RotK, and has been enthralling on Fringe.
- Not my favorite, but I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned Harrison Ford yet. He's Han Solo AND Indiana Jones for crap sake.

Well, they shouldn't need to have any Relation to be favored though, correct? It is after all the Opinion of People that is being asked.
Tom Hanks...and im younger so i ever fully enoyed too many of his earlier movies but seeing his flawless transitions from Forrest Gump to Green Mile to Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons as well as the newer movie Larry Crowne...i love all his movies fantastic actor.....im a little favorited since i love the books by Dan Brown so im happy he plays the perfect "Robert Langdon"
I don't have a single favorite, but a bunch of favorite actors.
In no particular order: Paul Giamatti, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Robert Downey Jr., Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt (in very select films), and Liam Neeson.

AND Blade Runner.
My favourites, I suppose, are Bill Murray, Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, James Stewart (in Hitchcock films), Cary Grant, and the very underrated Cillian Murphy and Paul Bettany. Oh, Christian Bale is pretty good too - Machinist and The Fighter. Oh, nearly forgot the excellent Guy Pearce. And that d@mn Jonny Depp.
