Hi Carl,
I'm not on Vodafone or HTC Magic. I'm on T-Mobile running a G1.

- Download above
- Rename to update.zip
- Put on root of your SD card
- Reboot your phone into recovery mode. Power off the phone first and then hold down the Home key while powering it back on
- The recovery mode is finished loading when you see the ! mark inside the triangle. Press Alt+L to display the list of options.
- Press Alt+S to flash the file update.zip.
- Wait for the update to apply. Your phone may reboot during this process so be patient.
- Press Home+Back if prompted to reboot your phone.

Problems
My G1 on T-Mobile update this morning with the new software build number DRC92 which i assume is this Donut thing people are talking about
However it persistantly crashes my open home app with the force close message. THis message contiually pops up making the phone unsable luckly by some random button bashing of the keyboard i manage to uninstall open home ever time i reload it it crashes the phone
Anyone any ideas

Answer to my own question
I solved my own problem by installing the newest version of open home V3.0.1

Yesterday I noticed my UK Magic downloading something and thought it was just Google reader syncing up, luckily I was completley wrong.
It was a fresh donut! Just sitting there, all 14.8MB waiting to be installed. After playing with the Magic most of the day I would say Donut is more Jam than Sprinkles as my Magic runs much quicker.
Hows it working out for you guys?

It really is a noticeable improvement. One of the tests I did was to simply load up some new wallpaper from a larger file, a process that would leave the Magic thinking for a good 30 seconds. Now it takes 5 seconds!

I'm on Vodafone Australia, with a HTC Magic, and received the Donut update last night, my missus is on the same carrier with the same phone and hasn't received hers yet... (presumably they're only rolling it out to a portion of their users each day)

Got my Donut at last. I don't know if it was coincidence but it was when I went into 'Manage Applications' that a message box popped up telling me it was available.

Mine was waiting for me when i woke up today, yey.
Impressed with the new market though i prefer the old black background.
Don't think the gallery is a huge improvement and i like the new voice search which finds stuff on the phone as well now, though not sure i will use this much.
Don't know if it makes the phone faster though!
