UPDATE Your G1 manually
Ok this is all data from XDA-Developers:
Google Download: https://android.clients.google.com/u...-RC19+RC28.zip
**This download might need to be refreshed once or twice before it works. If you get 503 server error, try again, if it doesn't work after a while use the links below.
Rapidshare Download 1: http://rapidshare.com/files/15924331...-RC19_RC28.zip
Rapidshare Download 2: http://rapidshare.com/files/15924473..._RC28.zip.html
Rapidshare Download 3: http://rapidshare.com/files/159411433/update.zip.html
Android-DLS.com: http://android-dls.com/forum/index.p...rb_v=viewtopic (Must be registered)
Steps to upgrade:
1: Download the file and rename/save it as update.zip (some users found just plain update works best (no .zip))
2: Place the file on your mini SD card and insert it into your G1 (card formatting requirements still unknown, so if fat does not work, try fat32 and vice versa)
3: With the phone off Hold down the "Home" and press the power button (end call) to turn the phone on (while still holding the home button)
3: Wait for the following screen
4: open your keyboard and press Alt+L
5: When you see yellow text, pless Alt+S
6: When it says "Installation Complete" you can press "Home" + "Back" to reboot.
7: Wait for your phone to completely reboot and allow it to finish writing your radio rom during reboot, it may reboot multiple times.
8: Enjoy
These instructions are paraphrased from other users and are not written by me.
Hope this works for everyone...

So far, i'm to the yellow text. Looking good!
Btw, I downloaded from this link, so it was already named right. I also put it in the main folder of the SD card. It's rebooting now, so i'll report back.

Will do, even though it says RC19-RC28. I deleted the upgrade.zip file off my SD card. BTW.

Either way, I submitted it to Engadgetmobile.com. I gave credit to xda-developers, but I couldn't find the related link over there.

and the fun with the G1 begins.
I hope just as many people start to play with this phone as do with the Kaiser....
all we need now is a G1 Tweaks and a true file manager program

-put it on your sd card
-rename is to "update"
-turn your phone off
-hold the "home" button and while still holding it press teh power button to turn the phone on
-when the phone start you should see this screen

-open the keyboard
-press Alt+L
-pless Alt+S
-When it says "Installation Complete" you can press "Home" + "Back" to reboot.
-Wait for your phone to completely reboot and allow it to finish writing your radio rom during reboot, it may reboot multiple times.
-Enjoy

forgive me for my ignorance in advance. I am wondering since the first link isn't working for me, if I do this rapid share thing do I need to download all those links? and how safe is this to do? I am still not updated and i'd like to be and for the first time I am not able to get through to t-mobile, I always thought their customer service was 24 hours but um ok. I am happy to see it worked for some of you guys and i'd like to take a chance and do a manual update as well i'm just a lil chicken to click the link and start the download.

If you'd like to update to RC29 yourself, take a look here.
I noticed that this info didn't seem to be widely known here so I thought I'd register and share the wealth.
http://www.android-unleashed.com/search/label/RC29
I've just done this and it works perfectly, takes about 10 minutes to do.
Overall it seems like the phone is more stable and smoother in operation, we'll see how it does over time.
If it works for you, post back here to let people know it works!

Just one I believe. Those are just multiple links to the same thing if I'm not mistaken.
