Velocity doesn't have apps2sd at all. Maybe it will in 0.2, I don't know, but I've heard people say that it's unreliable. I've never had any problems with it personally, though.
To use apps2sd you need a class 6 microsd card. Using apps2sd with the card that came with the phone will just corrupt it.
It is good to see so much enthusiasm for the Ally... I am waiting on making a choice for an upgrade, and this is what I want to see... people who like their phone and developers developing for it. A bigger screen would be nice but the price is almost too good.
Would anybody here give their Ally back?

Good to hear because I really like my Samsung i760 because of the keyboard, but love Android on my HTC Vogue (no keyboard)

I would pick the Droid too, mainly because of the screen size...BUT that extra size takes up a lot of pocket room.
Right now I am being tempted by a get 2 Ally's for one deal...
#Velocity 0.2 for the LG Ally will be released within the next week. Please stay tuned for more information.
Everything I say becomes wrong in moments... okay, how's this: there will not be a kernel that allows stable overclocking of up to 1.4GHz released in the next half hour.

eh, I've gotten tired of waiting for something that doesn't seem to offer any significant increase in performance. The biggest thing to happen to this phone is definitely drellisdees OC, the performance is amazing. I have flashed back to stock ROM as it actually is FASTER than velocity with the OC. I suggest anyone trying to find a significant performance increase should check it out.

Velocity V0.2 is faster than the stock ROM without overclock to begin with with..

The ally is great. Incredibly cheap and it is "phone sized" most other smart-phones I have seen are WAAY to big to be considered phones, they are more like tablet PCs with a cell radio. The ally fits in your pocket, has a great keyboard, runs all the important apps well, has a good community behind it, and from what I have seen so far is almost impossible to brick
Hey if you need anyone to test app2sd, I have an after market 8 gig chip that I put ext2 and ext3 partitions on and I can format the card and resize it to test stuff.
My wife has apps2sd on her lg ally via the dapper duck build works great just having a hard time updating a few apps. I hope its included in your next release. Its the onlyt way.ill get her to switch lol.
Ok so I got my Ally like three weeks ago and thought I got ripped off from the chuckle-head at the Verizon store for not going with the Droid! So, I decided last week to root, remove some of the BS stock apps (Amazon, VVM, Drive home, etc...) and was like, "Ok, this is ain't so bad". Then I heard of custom roms for the ally and saw a lot about Velocity 0.1.1 and decided, why the hell not?! I must say WOW!! F&%# the Droid, it's got a crappier keyboard and well, is very large! I love my Ally now. I do have a couple of issues (gmail notifications not updating without manual refresh, icons defaulting back to generic android icons, live wallpapers crashing, no cool weather widget, etc...) but all in all it is soo much faster now!! I mean, I am excited about the whole froyo update but it's hard to stay excited when the only hint at a release is "later on"! This is exciting, like I can hardly wait for Velocity 0.2!! Screw the corporate dev's man, they obviously have seriously underestimated the Ally and the following it has amassed, so you know it wouldn't surprise me in the least if V0.2 is better and faster than what LG's dev's are dragging thier feet on with regards to the 2.2 release for the Ally. So Trident for you my friend, I will ensure that you get at least enough for some Redbull, who knows maybe even a Nutrageous, but I'm poor so you might need a coupon! Payday is at the end of the week, till then, ROCK ON MAN!!
Oh and if anyone could help with the aforementioned issues, a great big thank you is in it for you!

No, I will not. It is not stable enough nor does it offer as many options as the custom kernel that is included.
Ah I see. Guess we'll have to wait for a release to find out the options this kernel includes? Either way, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Same, trident. I plan on donating to you soon as I get my next paycheck, but. I can't find your stinking paypal link thing.
Release of 0.2 more than likely not happening today.
"Trident (bryanowens):
I broke something in Velocity 0.2, so the release will be a bit delayed. I'll try to fix it tonight..."
Well that's disappointing, I've been looking forward to Velocity 0.2 D: Hopefully the delay doesn't take TOO long! But oh well, I know its going to be amazing once its out thanks for all your hardwork Trident!
Im so ready for 0.2! Im also debating on getting the Drellisdees kernel, think that s a good idea?
You know, it's nice, but I've been having some really strange problems with it, like when using the keyboard sometimes the phone acts as if I'm on the home screen and holding the 'alt' key... pressing 's' brings me to my messaging application, 'y' to youtube, etc. I'd say don't use it unless you're okay with occasionally rebooting your phone.

I had issues using any form of internet (3g/wifi) so I just restored a back up. Its not like the phone is insanely slow as is, plus I need all the battery life I can get. I'd be happy with a stable kernel that is OC'd just to 700mhz with it set to downscale when the phone is asleep.
Also, just read that Trident smashed that bug that broke Velocity and is expecting a release late tonight.

that happens to my phone too, the fix is to press the search button below the screen, then press the back button it beats rebooting the phone. hah
