Will we see Velocity 1.1 before it's all over? That'd be nice, but waddaya gonna do? Seems like our Allys have been pretty much fully pushed and maxed out about as far as they go, ...and then some! -Rock on!!!!!!

With Verizon taking away our early upgrade discount in the New Every 2 program, that leaves folks like me waiting another year before shopping for a new phone. I would hope that inclines some of the developers who may be in a similar situation to keep tweaking the Ally for at least several more months.
I know the feeling. Ive been laying low the past few weeks too.
If you know why, could you tell us the motive?
Also, you are a great dev and it sucks to see you moving away from the Ally. I have been following you since you ported FroYo to the Ally before LG could. Thank you for everything, you will be missed by the community.

Ditto here! Thanks for everything you have done for all of us, and also for helping me when I needed rescuing.
I guess it was inevitable. Truthfully I think we should be glad it lasted as long as it did. The Ally was a crappy phone that got a lot of peoples attention cause it was CHEAP or FREE. Given the speed with which new turns into obsolete, I would have guessed it would have happened after V0.4 but we got one more out of it and it is awesome, still. Well this is the end of the Ally then, I'm so happy with the progress it's made during my time with it. Thanks to Trident, Savoxis, Getitnowmarketing and everyone else who helped to make this baseline phone a truly enjoyable device/experience. So anyone know a good phone to switch to? I mean, this thing is at nearly the end of it's life, another few months maybe and then what? I would like to root/ROM my next phone too, it was so much fun learning my way through the Ally, I'd like to continue with a new one. Suggestions???
It would be awsome to see a "final" velocity release! But im not sure if there is much more that can be done.......thx for making the ally a phone worth using! I think ill be giving dinc a shoot for my next phone,

Anyone able to tell me how to access SD card partition 2? I installed Z-device test and it tells me that I have 86780 kbytes free memory there to be used up. Just curious, hate to see this free space got to waste!

Ah. Well, Win7 can access EXT partitons. So if you are now limited to WinXP, you could download the freeware GParted (download the ISO file). Then use it to create a bootable GParted disc. GParted can access and work with/create/delete all kinds of partitions. I had used it to format the EXT partition back before Velocity 1 and Froyo. It is easy to use and pretty much intuitive.

Sooo I went and installed 1.0 onto my ally and it says everythings fine and dandy but when I boot my phone it goes to the "velocity" screen for about half a second and then turns off. Please help. Thanks yo.

Plug your charger into the wall, plug that into your phone. Let it sit for a while and see what that does for you. Sounds like your trying to boot up to a dead battery.

Bryan Owens is coming back to the Ally scene! Confirmed on his Twitter, he also joined a team developing a ROM for the HTC Thunderbolt. "Ally folks: I'll resume work on Velocity either Tuesday or Wednesday. Spread that around, you little fire starters."

In velocity scripts you can Odex rom and/or toggle dalvik to cache. That'll usually free up a good chunk of internal memory. Made a huge difference for me and a bunch of others too!!

I'm so pumped about this that I finally became a member just to express my gratitude
well its ok but a lot of things aren't working in this so how do i uninstall and go back to orginal froyo? also the camera video is massivly laggy now and i am unable to send messages
thanks

Make a nandroid backup of frunisher, wipeh all used data, dalvik cache when you can flash velocity. Very impotrant you wipe everything. But theres no need to go back to stock froyo

Ok so I don't know if this has been brought up before but when viewing the unlock screen in landscape. Mode the clock seems cut off. I'm not sure if anyone else is seeing this or if its just me. But I thought I should mention that.
Amazing rom tho! So many amazing things! Great work guys!

When you said "unlock screen" did you mean the type where you have to draw a pattern with the 9 dots (the one I use) or where you slide the dot sideways toward the other dot? My clock in the notification bar looks fine with the 9 dots unlock screen in landscape mode.

After the hell it put me through during my Velocity 0.4 days, I recommend you avoid ROM Mgr. Dots and I spent an hour in Terminal cleaning up the mess it caused on my Ally.

Yeah, I kinda feel the same way. Is there another way to get that new amonra recovery image, and is it necessary for optimal action?

i doubt there is going to be any big difference between the new one and the one we have. i dont think you're not going to miss anything if you dont update.

the update wont be released for a little bit, beginning of may i believe. if you want to use velocity DONT TAKE THE UPDATE, anything worth while will be included into velocity savoxis has just posted, and if you have velocity you CANT take the update since it wont install with a custom recovery. there's already a lot of info about it in the all things root forum
