The app fix works for those apps as well so you can update them and they'll work properly.

Just curious as to whether this is still a viable update or if, because of the "Future of Velocity" poll, has this been scrapped for the eventual Cynogen Mod? I haven't heard anything in a while. I hope it's because things are coming together so well that the momentum won't allow for a stop to report on how well its coming together. Thanks for the hard work and please don't think I'm nagging, I just like to stay involved.

What's happenin' folks?
I am lookin' for some some knowledge... I just switched a few devices around, so we now have my wife's og Ally as a home phone. The dilemma, it's been so long since I rooted it, it doesn't seem to have an Hboot screen... Is this normal? I can't remember, duh??? If not can anyone direct me to a dl for it? And since I have never lost an Hboot, assuming it had one, adb push? any helpful links? Just incase...
One more question is Velocity DeOdexed? UOT kitchen Theme-ing in mind... Thanks guys! and all replies / help is very much appreciated!

Hboot is an HTC thing. LG has just fastboot, and, chances are, if you got it very recently from VZW, it doesn't have fastboot. And Velocity is deodexed

I have been surfing these threads looking for the proper installation method for this fix and haven't found one. Can someone give me a step by step so I don't screw something up.

thanks!
All you have to do is go into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash the zip. Reboot and done! Hope I've helped.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having frequent spontaneous reboots of velocity 1.1, especially while overclocked? I cut back from 768 to 748 and then to 729 to try and stop them. It runs fine at any of those speeds without ever seeing a kernel panic, but it will silently reboot itself, sometimes a few times a day. I'll see the notice of 'unclean shutdown' at the top when it happens during times when the screen is off, but sometimes it will reboot in mid-use. Usually while online or working with emails.
I have to wonder if the cpu is feeling its age because of the OC, despite that I only ever went as high as 787? I bought this Ally on the release date last year. Is anyone else with an Ally of this age seeing similar issues using velocity?

My Ally is about that age and that happened to me for a day or two. If i had a few things running in the background and use the internet it would reboot. I suggest watching how much you have in the background and widgets and so forth. Im overclocked at 787 and its running fine now; no kernel panics.

Hmm. Can you give me an example of what you had running in the background, or how many things? I don't think I have removed any of the default apps provided by Velocity. But I do have many apps installed. I did just yesterday start seeing 'low memory' messages while typing a note in Evernote. I didn't think that sensible since I thought I moved most of my apps to the SD card. But I found some I had apparently missed. So I moved more of them an went from 24 to about 68MB free internal memory. Hopefully that will help.

Well i play alot of games on my phone and lend it to my brothers at times and forget to close them. Other than that its usually things like youtube and pandora that i forget to go and force close. I suggest using froyo task killer to see whats running and what you can kill, its helped me in that field. As for the number of apps, i suggest getting rid of anything that isnt important or that you dont use. I noticed that it takes a while for the launcher to boot up entirely after turning the phone back on because of all the apps on the sd. Ofcourse i still have many apps since im patient but the more space the merrier. I have about 85MB free.

Thanks for mentioning the slow launcher startup being due to apps on the SD. Mine does that, and I had not known the reason. But it does make sense now that you mention it. I use ADW. The apps that are running internally will have their icons immediately show, while the ones on the SD will show the generic green app icons until they get sorted out.
I don't use pandora, and only rarely use Youtube. Also not much into social networking. So I probably could lose some of the apps it has. I just had not bothered to sort through them, since allowing apps on the SD has given me virtually "as many apps as I want". The whole reason I rooted and ROMed was because the Ally doesn't have enough memory to even install what I consider to be a "reasonable" number of apps. I use the Ally a LOT. Mostly as a portable PC. It sees very little use as a telephone. So I like having access to the web and whatever apps I need to do the chores at hand.
Thanks for the suggestions. If having created more internal free memory doesn't help, I'll start looking to weed out the non-essential-to-me apps.

does anyone else keep getting the OTA notification?
I tell it to take the update, it downloads, and tells me it's going to reboot but never does. After this the update notification stays off for a week or two then comes back. I seem to remember that when I first flashed the ROM, I took the OTA and let the recovery kill it (which is supposed to stop the notification).
Do I need to download the 'update helper' app and install the OTA?

You cannot install the OTA update while using Velocity. To stop the notification, use the Velocity Toolkit to make sure your scripts are updated to the current version, and the update notice will stop.
The current script version is # 39.

My Ally has never been able to handle overclocking, even with a clean install and nothing nonessential running. As soon as I press the camera button, my phone reboots. It seems that some Allys CPUs are better than others...

It seems logical that LG would have set the specified clock speed at a point deemed reliable with every chip they tested, so anything beyond that is a crap shoot. I'll be happy so long as mine lasts into next year, when my upgrade cycle renews again. Moving more apps to SD in combination with clocking back to 729 seems to have made things more stable.

Hey guys, I've been running this for a few days and I've noticed that more than half of the time my phone doesnt ring when people call, it only vibrates. I've checked all my settings and by all rights it should ring - and sometimes it does... its totally random. Anyone else having this problem? Missing calls because I don't hear it ring is a pretty serious problem for me, especially because this is my work phone.
Other than that I love the performance boost and the battery life seems much improved over stock

If you carry your Ally in your pocket like I do, the headphone jack can sometimes get dirty. When that happens, it can cause a complete loss of any audio from the Ally speaker, as it is tricked into thinking a plug is in the jack. I have had to clean mine with compressed air several times since it was new, which always fixes the problem until 'next time'. If this is happening to you, it can prevent the phone from audibly ringing. Try cleaning the jack with a couple shots of compressed air.
Thanks for the tip, though my headphone jack was clean and the problem only started after I flashed with Velocity from stock. Has anyone else had this problem?

I don't recall anyone mentioning it in the Velocity threads before now. Maybe you could try re-flashing? Something might have gone awry the first time. Sometimes my phone never receives a call at all. I only find out later when the missed call reminder appears. I attribute that to poor timing, with the Ally connected to the internet checking for mail or something at the same instant the call tries to come in. But it doesn't vibrate either, so maybe not related to your issue.

I used to have an lg ally didn't like it at first but after I got the velocity 1.1 on it the phone rocked you guys are geniuses. I just obtained a lg lucid vs840 there is not much development happening for it. It has been rooted. Was just wondering if this was phone you guys may think about doing some development for. I would love to see what this phone can do with an amazing rom like velocity 1.1 was. Just wondering Thanks
