Reason: Completely different post
Sorry though unless alot of other people are using Mms to send audio I think the features of Cyan mms outweigh audio files.
Im uploading the new full rom also, but over tether it will take awhile, and hope it doesnt mess up
no no, i understand. the cyan mms is way better... but between my wife and i, we send a lot of audio since she's home with the kids and it's fun for all.
savoxis, if i flashed the stock calendar and downloaded gmail from the market, do i need to flash the 1.2.1 patch?
No Clock mod SHOULD be in the scripts. Pretty sure I did it a while back... *shrugs*

If anyone has flashed 1.2.1 and experienced the blank (white) calender described in the quoted post, please respond...

As I am sure you can understand, without an Ally to test this I am relying on other people to make sure things work.... I am sorry that twice my testers have failed to ACTUALLY TEST the calendar.
Can someone please provide me a WORKING calendar and calendar provider apk?

I have an apk for it but it wouldnt let me install it normally due to it being a system app but i am willing to give that and the files for the titanium backup i have for it. I got mine back from there and its working perfectly. Maybe it can be put in your titaniumbackup folder and be restored from there?

Same issue here for the stock calendar, but I don't use it. I use PimlicalA, which seems to be working just fine. So I'm guesiing the calendar.apk has a bug?

Is there a way to revert back to the theme used in the 1.2 ROM after having changed themes? I don't recognize it in any of the listed themes in the Velocity Scripts.

There will be when I get my internet back on.
For now I would recommend using nandroid

you could go to the UOT kitchen and upload the framework.res that savoxis posted in this thread without making any additional changes, and that will give you a flashable zip that takes the theme back to original 1.2
So i tried using the titanium backup files for the calender to restore it and it works. I have no means of uploading this anywhere right now but if its possible i can email the files to anyone who needs them.

Hmm. 20/20 hindsight. Since I am still mucking around setting things to my liking I have not yet made a Nandroid of 1.2. Well, this may give me a chance to verify whether the new (to me) app backup I just made with MyBackup Root can actually restore my apps to their proper SD card locations. Titanium Backup Root failed miserably in that regard, so I spent 2 hours last night confirming each re-installation of each app (as someone pointed out, Titantium Backup doesn't actually back up apps) and then moving them to the SD. I'll try re-flashing tonight and restoring the lengthy MyBackup I just made to the Ally's SD, to see if it has the chops to do things correctly.
i'm guessing since ADWlauncher is built into the framework, it can't be safely uninstalled, right? I am a Launcher Pro user so I have that loaded up.
I was a long time LPP user until I got sick of no updates and no word from fede. If your concern is the widgets, as mine was, Adroid Pro Widgets in the market are basically exactly the same as the LPP widgets. You do have to pay if you want a 'friends' widget though I think. ADW will do pretty much everything else LPP does and more.
Flashed 1.2.1, unfortunately Gmail is not automatically syncing for me. I have verified background data and auto sync are on, and have uninstalled and reinstalled Gmail from the market to see if that helped. No dice. Other than that, I love it!
UPDATE: problem solved with a good ol' wipe/reflash. Shoulda tried that first

but other that that WOW.
other items. adw has an update. should I do it or no because its integrated
I liked my old lg kbd. and gmail (not dark)

I replaced ThinkFree office with Google Docs, Thinkfree is HUGE! Google Docs is almost as good and MUCH smaller
ADW *should* be updatable.... IIRC I tested updating it back when I had a phone. Also the ADW included DOES work with the ADW themes that you find in the market
I have the problem with the Calendar. I have installed Smooth Calendar widget and this pulls in the items fine BUT when I open the calendar it is blank.
Other then this Velocity 1.2.1 is great, very fast

I got some freak occurance where the unlock pulls were stock and everything else were themed in a UOT theme. However, after trying again, I got it working
I tried doing that, but it seems this rom works differently. After flashing framework-res.apk, i was restored with stock unlock tabs. it's really weird. I think the tabs are stored somewhere else, similar to how motoblur roms work.
yikes, so when you upload the v1.2 framework and make any or no changes, it changes the unlocking sliders??? i love those sliders, i wish i could use them for WidgetLocker. I wanted to change the battery indicator to tell me the charge level while charging instead of showing a bolt. Also to change more smoothly while charging.
google docs needed update but said package file not signed correctly...i need this to open an email attachment cause the attachment would not open...help please ..running velocity v1.2
Yeah! Love Velocity 1.1 but it causes my phone to crash about 2 minutes after boot and make the phone think it's out of battery when it's not. Maybe this one is the ticket! XD
Thats an app called theme manager by the folks over at cyanogen forums. It archives all the latest themes for launcher pro, adw launcher, go launcher and of course cm7 (cm7 doesnt affect u guys )

I have some duplicate apps I need to sort out. Can someone please tell me which of these came with Velocity 1.2 and which did not? I am going by the sizes of the files as reported in the Settings/Applications/Manage Applications screen:
Camera 440 KB / Camera 244KB
Car Home 612KB / Car Home 4KB
Droid Eye 36KB / Droid Eye 28KB
Also, does anyone have a backup app they would recommend which can:
>Back up the actual APK files and app data to the SD card, keeping track of whether each app was installed in internal memory OR on the SD card.
>Restore the apps back to internal memory and to the SD card just they way they had been installed.
>NOT require confirmation as each app is being restored from the backup.
So far neither Titanium Backup Root nor MyBackup Root can accomplish all these goals. I have tried each one over the past 24 hours, having backups made by each of them, and restored the backups after freshly flashing Velocity 1.2. In both cases I had to MANUALLY move my apps back to the SD card.
(Edit - I have since learned that a one click restore of apps is a feature in the registered PRO version of Titanium Backup. That alone makes the upgrade price worthwhile to me, so I have upgraded to the PRO version. Hopefully that will make things much easier next time I restore my app backups).

I don't think you understand the situation. It appears the duplicate apps may be coming from my app backup, which I am restoring after flashing Velocity. Apparently I had copies of those apps backed up, but Velocity 1.2 has opted to include copies of them too. So if I flash it again (for the third time) it won't make the duplicate apps go away, because they would just get restored again when I restore my app backup file.
I suppose if I inspected the app list BEFORE I restored my apps, then I could get the answer that way. But I was hoping someone wouldn't mind helping me out and look at their app list and let me know which ones they don't see. That way I won't have to re-flash and move all those apps yet a THIRD time.
I have not used an EXT partition on the SD card since upgrading to Froyo made it unnecessary.

Whatever floats your boat, of course. But for my part, they haved saved me from countless wasted hours rebuilding PDAs and phones after the "inevitable catastrophes" (Windows Mobile's alternate name) of such devices seem to derail them at the moment I need them most. It's a small price (in my time) to pay for knowing I won't have to spend 2-3 hours bringing things back from the grave. I use my Ally as much as or more than my computers. It's a wonder the qwerty slider hasn't fallen off. (I once had a Palm PDA that got so loose it wouldn't stay slid open).
What would really be cool would be an Android version of an app like Drive Image used to be for computers. I could reformat a C drive and then be back up and running with all my many apps in place in 12 minutes in those days. Sigh. Sadly no longer.
velocity 1.2 is great. except that i get quite a few video txt messages. they show up with thh play button on them but when i hit play there is no sound or movement of video just the original ..question is how to i get mms messages to work..i need them.
thanx again

App Drawer is Missing!
Somehow my finger slipped while navigating on a web page and I ended up back on the ADW center home screen. The little tool bar to the right has lost its icon for the App Drawer. There is just a blank star there now. I don't know any other way to open the app drawer. How can I get this back, short of the Nandroid I made last night? Aha! I made a backup of ADW's settings last night! But I'd still like to know if there are other ways to open the App Drawer.

Ok this what you do:
1.) Hold down on home screen on a blank spot until option window appears
2.) Select "Launcher Actions"
3.) Select "Open/Close App Drawer"
4.) Drag to Dock and you're done

You need to flash the Stock messaging app. the cyan messaging app does not play well with MMS

Hey, thanks! That works very well! I hadn't realized the little block icon for the app drawer was in with the Launcher Actions.
I could swear that my ADW dock bar had 5 elements in it before I flashed V1.2. But I haven't found in ADW how to change it from showing 3 now. I am certain I had an icon for Latitude at the upper end of it back then. Aha! I found it in a Google search. It's in ADW's UI settings.

Hi, first off, I love the new ROM, kudos to the developers. I just installed it like an hour ago, I love it so far. I only have one problem: the Gmail and Google Docs are not updating. When I click the update link in the Android Market, it says "Application is not signed correctly". What does this mean? Is it a fault of Google or the Dev Team (I'm not being mean here, I just don't know what's going on here.) If someone could please help me, that'd be really great.
Thanks in Advance,
Michael
