But yes, things like this happen alot and its taken care of correctly. Sometimes people have been known to post software for a device just to sit back and watch a mass brick warefare and laugh at the people who attempted to flash it. (Happened at android tablet forums)

I guess that does solidify the need for all of us to continue questioning what may appear to be something hinky, doesn't it?

PSA: Velocity has tethering applications to allow you to use your existing tethering plan in a way that DOESNT suck balls, choice of ad-hoc, infrastructure and usb etc.

any help can would be very appreciated!
your recovery got messed up/deleted/corrupted. You need to either flash a new recovery.img from fast boot, or reflash a recovery from ROM MANAGER. keeping in mind, however, that ROM Manager performance has been flaky with the ally. I would recommend Amon_RA recovery by GNM. You can even flash it right through ROM Manager. Flash it a couple tiles through there to make sure it 'sticks' though.
Hello I'm in need of some assistance concerning RaptorVPN. I've put in everything correctly, following the instructions on their site, but it keeps saying it can't connect (to both Wifi and 3G: I use Tor right now for both, and I tried to connect to RaptorVPN w/ and w/o the Tor). Any help? Thanks

will the Gapps from here work on Velocity? Or how can I get her upgraded to the newest GMAIL?
As I said in my PM, delete it from system/app and redownload from market. If I remember correctly, the gmail in velocity is modified, and therefore can't be messed with from the market.
Thank you, savoxis, for a really great job with the Velocity ROMs. My question concerns tun.ko: OpenVPN does not run properly (or at all) on Velocity 1.1; the reported error references tun.ko. Was anything updated in Velocity 1.2 which might fix the problem? This is on an LG Ally.
LG screen > Velocity > Black screen > Lg screen
So basically a boot loop. I've wiped Dalv, data reset, wipe cache, flash 1.2.1, boot loop.
No clue why it isn't working, all have worked but since the links are dead, I can only run 0.4.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Now I'm up to a loop that always takes me back to CWM recovery. 0.4 still works fine.
Looks like your still stuck on eclair? (Aos2.1) i believe with the upgrade to froyo, we had to do velocity 1.0 upgrade procedure. Idk if the links we used are still live...
What are my email, messaging, and voicemail notification options with Velocity 1.2?
I was looking for a setting that would play the audio alert for each of those 3 notifictions periodically. I didn't find the setting or am looking in the wrong place. Is this possible, and if so, where are the settings located?
HOORAY FOR ONE MORE VELOCITY! I've used this ROM since 0.4 and I love it so much that I passed up my phone upgrade. That's right, you took my Ally from unusable to all I could ever want.
If you get the chance, could you please include an alternate kernel that supports swap? I tried to compile my own from GetItNowMarketing's source, but I'm in over my head and more and more apps crash from lack of RAM.
Can't find a working link to download this ROM either. I dusted off my old Ally and am setting it up for a friend/musician to use without service (Google Voice) via Wi-Fi around town, but the stock rom is... and this needs another line of its own...
... the stock ROM is HORRIBLE...
... just in its bloat, inability to install apps (no storage), etc... and with everything I've learned about Android on my new (JB) Nexus S 4G, there's a *lot* of room for improvement that can only come with moving apps from data to system, offloading dalvik-cache to the "cache" partition, etc... absolutely *have* to put Velocity back on here but I "moved on" from Velocity when I thought I was going to sell back the Ally! :P
I'll host the ROM on my Dropbox account (free direct-linking of unlimited size) if I can find a copy of it. You can post that here in the thread and people can access it forever. It's the least I can do to give back to this community that made my Ally useful for so long
i just registered on here to say it looks like everyone is officially ****** on any Velocity rom downloads/patches/updates period. the new builds aren't even being hosted anymore. i have looked up and down all over google for any solid Velocity downloads have yet to find any. all i keep getting is redirected to this damn forum and given download links that are all useless and dead. i see others on here asking for latest versions or at least stable versions and they are being ignored left and right. the hold thing is either being suppressed for whatever reason or has been fully abandoned. its a real shame, the project looked like it was really helping out us ally owners. all they had to do was upload a stable version to a free filelocker site with a few redundancy mirrors but that doesn't look like it will happen anymore.
That's in a folder I don't move files out of, so if I ever need more space I'm probably going to buy a Dropbox plan (but right now I'm still using the free offering). It's limited by bandwidth but allows 20GB per day (per LINK) and I don't believe I'm coming anywhere close to that. Feel free to use it, spread it, abuse it, and use it for the original post if you like
It's bad to abandon a useful project and leave everyone out in the cold, but hey, there ARE those of us around that will pick up the broken pieces. Make a post, but never give up hope that it can be found
The Following User Says Thank You to FalconFour For This Useful Post:
thanks a million man you are a life saver fa shor. you have solved all my velocity downloading problems. wouldn't mind trying out the bata, but a stable version is just as good.
i'm sure meany others will be looking for this file too. to bad its here in the back of the thread, lets all hope people are smart enough to look back here for it.
edit:you would by any chance and the patch files too would you? thanks

I am... Incredibly confused. I followed every step from scratch, rooting, to installing the recovery, to performing the backup, wiping all data, to finding the 1.2.1 in the zip and installing it and... Nothing. Looks like the stock rom to me, although it still has superuser for some reason. Has this happened to anybody before? I even got the "Thanks for choosing Velocity" message and everything before I rebooted.
Edit: Never mind. In my bleary-eyed excitement to try this out, it looks like I was installing the patch over the original ROM. I am expecting it to work now.
