Awesome bro :-) same research ive been doing. Dont get ur hopes up too much about getting it done soon tho. Building cm is usually not an easy process, and will more than likely require a lot of trial and error. Best of luck tho, man! One suggestion tho.... If i remember right, u had said that u no longer own a Venture. U might wanna look into picking up a cheap, "beater" venture to test on before releasing any form of a beta version. Building cm is an intensive process that could easily hard brick a device, and we dont want anyone around here bricking their phones. If u end up coming up with a build u feel good about, send it my way privately before releasing to the public. I will see if i can get it to run thru an emulator first, and then if all looks good, ill try it out on one of the ventures i have lying around. Best of luck bro. Im excited to c what u come up with!

so u r using a new PC to build android now? r u using ubuntu? if so, r u using the same exact version on this PC that u were before? the dependencies for building android vary from version to version of ubuntu. u may just have ur build machine set up incorrectly. what steps r u using to do a build, and what errors r u getting when u try?

I am stuck at the moment cuz of hard drive issues on my current build machine. Dont have enough space to do a full build, and ran into issues while attempting to repartition. I am currently in the process of setting up another build machine to give it a go. Gonna have to resync the souce again... Ugghhh...

By the way, if anyone knows of a device that is similar in hardware/build of the venture, and already has CM7 ported, please post names of any devices. If we have a similar device as a jumping off point, it should make things easier. Thanks!

That's all I could find that actually had a CM port other phones I found didn't even have custom roms.

MSM7627 Phones:

Huawei Ascend II:
[ROM]CyanogenMod 7 for the huawei Ascend II M865

MSM7x27 Phones:

There is the HTC wildfire S . I do not know if this is useful but here is the CM7 kernel for HTC Wildfire S:

Thank u for ur research :-) ill check it out in depth tomorrow. I should have been more clear tho... When i said msm7x27, the "x" is a variable... I kno off hand that there is an msm7227 chipset, possibly others. So any chipset that follows msm7x27 with the x in that being a variable, i would b interested in knowing about. There isnt actually a chipset named msm7x27.

Also, im tryin to (hopefully) find something structurally similar to the venture (i.e. Hardware keyboard, rear camera, etc...). The perfect device would b structurally similar, have the same chipset (or something in the msm7x27 family), and already have a CM port up and running.
