Default [ROM][CWM][LTE] ICL53F Deodexed Rooted Busyboxed + Softkeys + APM/AB MODS (12/17/2011)

This is just a very basic stock ROM. I deodexed the ICL53F system image from Google (Android 4.0.2) rooted it and installed busybox. I saw that no such stock ROM was available and decided to share mine.

Features
  • Stock 4.0.2 ICL53F
  • Deodexed Framework and System Apps
  • All APKs Zipaligned
  • Latest Superuser and su
  • Busybox Installed
  • Insecure boot.img (adb remount privileges)
Requirements
  • LTE Galaxy Nexus
  • Clockwork Recovery
  • Kernel and baseband in screenshot below (if you don't have them, look in the 2nd post for the fastboot images - flash them in bootloader prior to flashing the ROM)
Screenshot

Instructions

  • No need to wipe data coming from stock
  • Boot into Clockwork, make a backup (highly suggested)
  • Wipe dalvik and cache
  • Flash ROM
  • Reboot
  • Profit!
Some things to watch out for

  • The first boot will take a few minutes

I think the only thing I would like now is to add options to the power button to reboot/recover.

The ROM is working perfect. Thanks.

Yes, you need to be on a deodexed ROM in order for most mods to work. So either mine, or ARHD so far.

I will clarify that in the post.

Also, I've included the fastboot images for the new radios and kernel, in case anyone didn't take the OTA and wants to flash the ROM, just fastboot flash those images, reboot into recovery, then flash the ROM.

I believe he means the OTA to 4.0.2. I could be wrong, though

[APP] Nova Launcher Beta (ICS based) - xda-developers

Built from ICS source only for ICS phones. Keeps all the stock look and funtionality while giving you many more options. Loving the extra screen real estate from removing the search bar and a 6x5 icon grid.

I just saw that on xda after I posted here. I had a feeling you may have been using it. Can you do me a favor since you're using Nova? Can you try to add a 1x1 icon using desktop visualizer to the dock? I tried on stock and it doesn't work Really want some custom icons in my dock

you don't even need to use desktop visualizer. just long press the app you want to change, click edit, click the current icon, click browse files, and select your new icon.

I know this is a really stupid question, but so this is taken straight from google's official vanilla release? I don't have to worry about carrier IQ or samsung bloatware or anything? Also, would it pay to download the official google vanilla version, flash it, back it up, and then download this one? Or would doing that remove the clockwork recovery? Also, if I just got the OTA 4.0.2, is there a chance that has carrier IQ?

Thanks a lot. I'm a total noob.

Edit: I want to add, I have CWM installed, try to flash this thread's ROM, but it doesn't work. It goes through the process for about 15 seconds before saying it is complete, but it doesn't really install. Any ideas?

No Nexus device has Carrier IQ, and there is no Samsung bloatware on this phone.

The stock firmware that came with your phone was Google's official vanilla release. If you have the Verizon version, it has two apps installed, but that's it. Same with the 4.0.2 update - it's Google's vanilla release.

Found a fix for the Facebook text bug:

1.)Flash back to your nandroid backup or stock rom.

2.)Copy the fonts from the /system/fonts folder of your stock rom (I used root explorer, navigate to the folder, tap settings softkey, multiselect, select all, copy).

3.)Paste them in a folder of your choosing on /sdcard/<new folder goes here> Note: For ease of finding them, I just named my new folder /sdcard/fonts stock/

4.)Boot into CWR and install the rom as described above.

5.)When everything boots up, go back into Root Explorer, copy the files from /sdcard/fonts stock, or whatever you named it, using the same procedure as in step 2.

6.)From Root Explorer, back out and go into /system/fonts/, mount R/W and paste the fonts here... It will ask if you want to replace the fonts just select yes.

Reboot your device normally, and you should now have text in your Facebook App...

This is a grueling long way to do it, but another dev shared with me the way to fix it easier, so I will have an updated ROM for you guys when I get back from my friend's wedding tonight.

deodexed just means it's easier to apply mods such as the softkeys and apm.

yes, you can apply multiple mods, such as nova launcher.

Also, I updated the OP with a new version, fb is fixed, added insecure boot.img for privileged commands.

First of all, you are the man FAB! Thank you for everything you do!

One question, I'm running your advanced power menu and now when I hold the power button to bring up the menu, it reboots the phone instead of showing the popup. Any suggestions?

Running the current revo rom and Nitroz' black theme. Thanks!

One question, I'm running your advanced power menu and now when I hold the power button to bring up the menu, it reboots the phone instead of showing the popup. Any suggestions?

Running the current revo rom and Nitroz' black theme. Thanks!
The theme probably wasn't built with my framework-res, so it will not support the APM.

Ahh. That kinda sucks. Is there a way to uninstall without wiping?

yes, you can apply multiple mods, such as nova launcher.

Can anybody confirm if adding the search button allows you to long press for voice search? That's all I'm really missing with this phone.

There is no long press functionality for the search button, sorry. I'm sure some dev will add it in eventually, but right now long pressing doesn't do anything.

This is a great ROM and mods, thanks for your time in preparing them! I came from an Incredible that I had recently put CM7 on, but this is my first time adding mods. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

What's the quickest way to remove the softkey mod?

Use the steps in the OP to re-apply the ROM.

I've tried twice to install the Advanced Power Menu + Autobrightness Tweaks and they are not workingshowing up afterward. I did wipe dalvik and cache both times.

Are you installing it over the top of Fab's ROM?

It won't work to install it over the top of the stock ROM.

I'm on a deodex'd ROM (Universal HD), and flashed the softkeys mod from CWM recovery, didn't wipe anything, and when it rebooted the system, the search key was there but non-functional. I clicked into the web browser and my phone rebooted.

Anyone else have this problem?

I just had a random reboot, haven't noticed any before today... but it boots kinda quick, so I may have missed one earlier; Put this ROM on yesterday and then installed Wallet and a few other apps, but nothing that runs all the time or has any crazy permissions. Anyone else seen any reboots?

I had that happen to me last night. And it must have been the same thing, because the phone rebooted in about half the time. Really strange.

I haven't noticed anything else not working.

Well, that's not exactly true. When I'm in a Google Plus hangout, I cannot leave it. No matter how many different ways I exit, I don't actually leave the hangout until I reboot my phone. Not sure if this is a Google issue or a ROM issue.

I'm sure that some more savvy folks have more elegant solutions, but you can fix that by using fastboot on your PC to restore the factory ROM and start over. Definitely a good idea to make a backup in Clockwork Recovery before applying mods.

Best of luck to you.
