Problems unlocking bootloader
I'm not new to root, but I have been away from this whole process for almost 2 years now when I rooted my Incredible. Strangely, I remember that being a much more simple process than what I'm going through now to root my Gnex.
FYI, I'm on the Verizon Gnex and using a Windows XP 32-bit PC.
I have already installed PDAnet on my computer as well as the mini-SDK folder I found in the stickied threads. I turn off the phone but keep it plugged in to the computer, boot up the command prompt, navigate to the folder, then turn on the device via fastboot. It boots up to fastboot just fine, giving me options to start, power down, reset, etc.
I then type in fastboot.exe to see several commands come up. I tried typing in fastboot.exe devices, but it never actually does anything. Next I type in "fastboot.exe oem unlock" and it says <waiting for device>. This is where nothing happens. I don't get any reaction out of my phone, it just stays on the same fastboot screen.
Have I missed a step somewhere? Can anyone help me figure out the problem?
On a somewhat related note, I got my phone two weeks ago, and it has been working fairly well except for bad connectivity on occasion (reboot or airplane mode on off to fix) and one time the GPS wouldn't respond). Is it a mistake to root my phone and void my warranty before knowing if my Gnex is glitch free? Will rooting / flashing new ROM and kernal help these issues?
Also, please feel free to suggest a good kernal / ROM combination for stability, better battery life and UI customization. I had a go-to website for my incredible to see new ROMs, but I am new to the world of Gnex ROMs.
Thanks in advance for the help, you guys are the best.
