A SPECIAL THANKS to jbdan for everything he put into the AOKP threads during the ICS/early JB days!
Also, a SPECIAL THANKS to our fine Admin, EarlyMon, for handing me the reins to this thread when jbdan had to step away. I'm having a lot of fun maintaining this thread and it inspired me to create and maintain the N4 and N7 AOKP threads.

FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK!

"I'm just the messenger, always have been, always will be; so please thank these developers for making our phones so much fun to use!" - jbdan
The last few months have been very productive, and excitement builds in Unicorn Land. After a ton of hard work by a LOT of Team Kang members, we are finally ready to unleash some fantastic news.
As promised, the much anticipated JB-MR1 Milestone 1 release is imminent. We have spent the last several weeks ironing many bugs to painful deaths, arguing about who broke what, and optimizing the overall AOKP experience.
We’d like to take a moment to thank all of our members for their incredible work (and ability to not kill each other!) – the sheer amount of effort and will over the past few weeks has been awe-inspiring.
…There, moment over! MORE NEWS NOW!
With the release of this Milestone we are moving to a new release cycle. Builds are now a thing of the past! That’s right – no more builds. (Keep reading!)
Instead, our BuildBot will pump out new builds every 4 days (subject to future change).
These will truly be nightlies – untested by humans. Think of it as a “snapshot” of current AOKP source. There won’t be blog posts for these builds, check the nightly folders under your device on our mirrors. If it so happens that something was merged that breaks your device and the bot starts before someone notices it, well… that’s a bummer. Report it so we can fix it, and be vigilant about your backups!
Our intention is to release new Milestone builds at a minimum of 1 month intervals. It may be longer than 1 month, it all depends on whether we feel the Milestone label has been achieved.
Speaking of Milestones… we’d like to thank each and every one of YOU, for helping us achieve the insane mark of over 1,000,000 installs. It seemed like a miracle when a hundred people had installed AOKP… again, when it was 500… and so on. This is a miracle to the umpteenth power to us, and our gratitude could fill the entire void of the cosmos.
Last, but not least… one of the greatest, most vital lynchpins of our team, the mighty Sethyx, has released AOKPush – an incredibly tight app for tracking our latest builds. It’s beautiful and supremely functional – pick it up today, and support one of the key developers without whom AOKP would no longer exist!
Don’t forget to flash GApps!
Swagger On!

Wake phone with volume keys. I hate having to use the most important button just to wake it up.
I could set a 5 minute wait to lock screen. (Screen blanks after 1 minute, but I can wake it shortly after with a touch of the screen.)
Tell me these features are in the preview....
BTW, someone should DL the jb and jb1 files and compare them. (Ok, I will.)
If you want a daily JB rom I'll suggest XenonHD. It has the first feature you seek. And many more. It's like the "AOKP of JB" up to this point and is as stable and smooth as I've seen.
It has volume wake, new browser features, pull down toggles, clock mod, new transitions that are beyond butter!, sound boost, the list goes on just try it
Or just wait a couple weeks and aokp will have it's first official build!
edit: and just so ya know, or it might not matter, I've been on it for 4 days now and ran JellyBelly for the 2 weeks before that. Xenon is really good the developer knows how to build a ROM.

Some questions
- do I need to flash the jb bootloader before flashing this?
- do I need to do a special wipe procedure like unmount data then reboot recovery before doing a wipe?
- are there jb market apks hacked to avoid incompatibility issues when using a custom LCD density?
- does this preview build allow for changing nav and led colors by chance?

Oh geez - I am going to have a field day when a non-test build is up and ready. I will need to gather the jb bootloader (please tell me this flashes the same as anything else) and all files.

AOKP JB - exciting!
This IS an alpha preview, though, and doesn't promise to make a capable daily driver. Give me a beta build or a stable release and I'm all over it, baby!
I'd rate this below average for AOPK... I know its early but boot time gets hung on Google screen... torch feature doesnt work in power controls... battery drain pretty quick... gmail was not included in the GAPPS flash... and light flow does not work...
Got plenty of faith in developer though so will keep eyes out for a better version way too early to make judgements

Gmail was removed from gApps some time ago. Get in Play Store.

Superuser keeps asking for root rights for Titanium and goo.im apps. I saw something about installing supersu, but it is paid. Is there a free alternative? Also, when I find the "superuser" app in the play store, it shows as "isn't compatible with this device".

Thanks for the info on this ROM. I hadn't heard of it before, checked it out Flashed it and its running great. It has the three things that I use a lot volume wake, toggles, and song advancement by pressing the volume key.

The incompatibility was my bad. I had forgotten to apply the market fix for my modded LCD density. Once I installed supersu and granted it root with superuser, it seems to work well now. Thanks!
The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to jkc120 For This Useful Post:
no. superSU couldn't get root either.
and now i see the solution. i reflashed the rom, was able to get root with superSU. then google play and other gapps were acting funky, so i wiped everything and am doing another clean install..... when all i needed to do was reflash gapps after that........
Ugh why oh why does Play Movies work on CM based custom ROMs but not on any others. I've been searching for hours and I can't find anything; not fixes, not explanations, nothing. So mad, I really want to rock AOKP again

ok, i know this has to do with every jelly bean rom i've flashed. but nova launcher won't apply themes correctly anymore. only with jelly bean roms.
what else... this has nothing to do with anything, but GO SMS is using spam disguised as txt msgs, so I had to uninstall and I need to find a new SMS app, cause stock just don't cut it.
This is something specific to this ROM and all jelly beans, custom backlight levels? what can I use to adjust them now?
I think this has the same bug that the early jelly bean ports from the nandroid had regarding booting while plugged into a computer. Just thought I'd bring it up to see if anyone else had a similar experience.

I am second this sentiment. I would like an answer as well.
Its very frustrating. I'm currently in the process of talking to Google Play and they're willing to offer me refunds for all my movies but that only makes it slightly better. I still need a video streaming solution.

However, hold back to kill doesn't work properly for me. It will sometimes work, but 1/2 the time it will do nothing or seems to kill something else (systemui maybe?) and the result is my wallpaper reverts to either the stock blue/purple animated one from ICS or the stock static JB wallpaper.

Running Test Build 3. Smooth, nice, finally have the navbar I like back. Only thing I'm bummed about is the no softkey glow and the occasional glitch but certainly daily driver material.

I see what you mean. It doesn't kill anything, and it can't be killing the UI because the navbar and status bar stay. But I do see what you mean.
