I used 7/15 (or whatever the latest download option was on his link).

Cheif, I updated SuperSU and mine is fine too.

2 things I noticed immediately were that Torch FC'd on me and I can't turn my swagger off. I can't have swagger all the time.

Yeah...that's it.

I think someone before me said, "If you have to ask, you don't have it."

I just read that it can't be turned off once its on.

So...I've never used any other launcher other than stock before.

I'm assuming that I need to set it up the first time and then Titanium will back it up?

Oh and is there any way to toggle back and forth between the stock launcher and apex?

Also, are there any screen shots of this ROM? What's different/better than Jelly Belly?
I've kept Apex on this ROM it runs very well. This ROM looks like all the other JB AOSP roms except it has reflective softkeys in the nav bar. Yeah Nova works fine, but I don't like it's glitchy drawer animation presently in the beta

The toggle works about 75% of the time the torch app FC's so use the toggle. Swag is built in once you turn it on you're forever swaggered

Apparently Swagger is some kind of a joke toggle that can't be turned off once it's turned on. It doesn't actually DO anything but sit there and be a nuisance. Oh well, I have enough swagger as it is

Sure you can swap back and forth. Never choose default app and every time you hit your home button you'll be prompted to choose which launcher by default. If you don't see this prompt then go into your app manager and "clear defaults" for the launcher/s

Yes Chief, you can turn the toggle off. LOL.

I'm not a huge fan of the boot animation. I can live it it though. There are so many tweaks that I can do...I should have waited until after this next work deadline to flash this ROM.

If I get fired, its your jbdan!!! LOL

Yeah choosing that every time I hit home is annoying. I just chose Apex.

So I'll set it up. Titanium will save that from now on though right? It's not like I have to setup Apex after ever flash, right?

Depends. You could dirty flash in-between new builds then you'll have zero re-setting up to do. Or you could backup Apex within the app itself, apex settings> backup and restore. I'm not positive about TiBu and Apex. I only use TiBu to restore apps, never their data, even though others do with success.

I'm not sure about Apex, but Nova has a backup/restore option. I'm sure Apex has it too.

Normally though, whenever I restore user Apps + Data with TiBu, my Nova is already set up to its last state the first time select Nova for my default launcher, so I don't have to use the restore within Nova anyways. You should be good

EDIT: Ninja'd again...

Just ditched jelly belly. For now, Xenon will be the wind beneath my wings (until the official aokp)

And using nova does work, no issues. Cheers

APEX has a backup setting. Use that too. That way, you will always have a restore point beyond TiBU.

Also didn't care for the bootanimation so I changed it.

1) using Root Explorer, navigate to system/media and change the name of the bootanimation file using the rename function (I added "Xenon"). This preserves the file if you want to reactivate it later vs. deleting the file.
2) using Root Explorer, open (do not FLASH) jellybelly3.x.zip file on your sdcard from where you stored it to flash before,
3) open zip file labeled "system"
4) extract file named "bootanimation" with longpress then navigate to sdcard/extracted by selecting button, once there, "copy" file with longpress then
5) navigate to /system/media and "paste" file there. You will have one labeled 'bootanimation.zip" and one labeled "xenonbootanimation.zip" if you followed my lead.
6) now when you reboot, your system will recognize the JellyBean bootanimation. If you want to go back to the prior Xenon one, simply delete the one file and rename the Xenonbootanimation back to "bootanimation.zip"

Easy as pie. really it is...well maybe not if you don't have Root Explorer...

UPDATE and Friendly Suggestion: Whatever file manager you use, it has to be able to read/write to system files and open (extract is the exact term) .zip files. Depending on your settings, ES or Astro will require more steps in order to work. The directions above work for Root Explorer. Whichever file manager you use, you need to understand how to manage all of your file types, its a worthwhile investment in time and energy. --getting the file type or file permissions error can be frustrating I know.

For instance, in ES here is what you have to do--similar but not quite as easy:
1) In ES, go to settings to make sure that Root Explorer, Mount File System and Up to Root are selected.
2)Next, when you navigate to your download file to get the bootanimation.zip file you want, you have to select ES Zip Viewer from the choices that pop up. Once you do that, you can navigate to the folder that has the actual bootanimation file (sdcard/your file name/system/media) and you have to "extract" the file or whole folder (i created an "extracted" folder on my sdcard for these file types as listed above).
3) To extract the file, choose "select" in the nav bar at the top and tap the Bootanimation.zip file
4) Then choose extract from the navbar at the top. It will give you three choices and i like to choose my path (I point to /sdcard/extracted) to the folder that i created. Hit done on the keyboard and OK on the app.
5) Once extracted, you can go to the "sdcard/extracted" folder, navigate down to the bootanimation.zip file and then longpress the file to copy/paste to the root system/media folder. You can see why this is a little more involved and why Root Explorer may be a slightly easier solution. 1-2-3 is better than 1-2-3-4-5-6...

Good luck!

Yeah, just reinstall it. It will ask for permissions when you reinstall it. I think that is the key to getting it to work.

I tried this with Astro, ES file explorer, and File Exporer (that is baked in Xenon). None of them let me change the name of bootanimation.zip to bootanimationxenon.zip.

I guess my question is this: Does Root explorer give you more permissions than the others? Or perhaps there is a setting that I'm unaware of?

To all the people that switched from Jelly Belly, are you still having the wifi/mms issue? I seem to be having it. It looked like it handed it off to 4g just fine when I hit send but its still not sending.

I guess my question is this: Does Root explorer give you more permissions than the others? Or perhaps there is a setting that I'm unaware of?

Yes it does. It has the option to let you "Mount R/W" (mount read/write) in any folder. This allows you to copy, move, rename, etc. files to and from system level folders, which requires root access, hence, "Root Explorer"

Circle Battery Mod now available for Xenon and it's gorgeous!

In my Dropbox, under "XenonHD":

Flash at your own risk, of course... but it works great for me!

In ES settings, check the boxes for "up to root" and "root explorer" and "mount file system". That said, the actual Root Explorer app is second to none.

Been running Xenon for about a day now, came from Jelly Belly 3.5. I like the toggles, hate the boot animation. With this ROM i'm seeing better signal strength. Was used to seeing 1-2 bars average at home but now i'm getting a solid 2-3 bars. I think it might be a false positive because my dBM is still high. I didn't work today so my battery life test will have to wait till tomorrow. Over all, I like it, no bugs as of yet.

Thanks Chief for the battery mod link, flashing now.

4.0 is up and has battery mods built in like aokp on ICS. No need for the mods if you move to v4 !

I've only seen the boot animation twice, it hasn't bothered me yet. How often are y'all booting your phone and staring at the screen??

Dirty flash is ok if over a previous Xenonhd build.

Ohhh yea 4.0 is up!!! Flashing as soon as im home from work! Hows it running for you guys?

Im really curious to know how it stacks up again aokp build 3. I know its like an alpha release but my friend swears by it. Wish someone could do a simple comparison of the 2.

Happy flashing
