Default Update

I still like beans rom, but I am changing my answer after trying two other ROMS:

For a touchwiz based ROM I would now say I like MeanBean the most, it has amazing battery life and is getting updated very frequently. I had zero issues with it.

For a 4.2.2 JB ROM without touchwiz, I LOVE PAC-Man, wow! It took some configuring after installing, but wow it has everything and is cutting edge as far as android goes. I don't miss hardly anything about touchwiz anymore and probably will stick with this as my daily driver.

Another vote for MeanBean. As MrBobo said- support from the creator is excellent- above and beyond, plus there are other people posting in his thread that are extremely helpful. He recently added a debloat feature that works beautifully. This is a rom for people that want to customize and streamline without losing too much of the stock feel.

if you want to go off touchwiz, carbon ROM is amazing too, my current daily driver! It's under the verizon Samsung galaxy note 2 original android development thread.

I've tried carbon, and I liked it until the GPS, and volume problem. I've been on liquidsmooth for a month, and loving it!

I'd like Beans better if it was a 4.3 (or even 4.2) rom.

Hi all
I have been on JellyBeans for long time. Likely, too long. Time for a change.
I an considering Pacman, but am not sure, if it's OK to use for my phone. It's biz cell, no surprises needed.
Also, not sure if I am on Touchwiz or not. If it makes any diff.
Input will be appreciated. Thank you.
Just in case - Pacman is simple flash off SD card, right? From recovery?

liquidsmooth is a great rom, almost zero issues that plus the neak kernel.

I have been running paranoidandroid for a week now and loving it, it's 4.3 and only a few minor graphics issues like every 4.3 rom right now.

Neither one of those roms are in the root guide. Please post their links so the guide can be updated.

My GPS is solid, audio is fine for me although I really have never had a serious audio issue on any rom, I know people think some are not as loud as stock, but I can hear fine... I think sbrissen has an audio fix in the cm build so that will probably filter down eventually too, devil kernel can be flashed and has an app to boost the sound but again I don't really see any issue.

Here's one more link to add: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.rom.installer

More here: JRummy Releases ROM Installer To The Play Store, It's Like ROM Manager On Steroids

Note, not great for every device, only popular dev devices. I suspect Nexus devices would be good, but I won't be using it on my Note 10.1. It shows no roms.

I see AOKP, Carbon, Chameleon and Liquid for the Note 2.

Thanks! and added under the Tools and Utilities header.

Call me old school but I personally prefer to flash roms/install .zips via recovery.
That app does look cool though, I will say. I may have to check it out

I don't understand why your phone is having a hard time with GPS and battery life. Like I said before when I got my phone back in the beginning of the year I rooted it and left the stock rom on it for a little while then flashed CleanRom Ace 4.6.1 and have been on it ever since for almost 10 months now. Also haven't ever updated it. I have no issues what so ever with anything not working. I've used GPS many times and I tether on it constantly and no problems with battery life.

I have been running this ROM for a while, running the nightlies and it's a great ROM. Everything works, also great with Plasma kernel.

The GPS issue is common across any non touchwiz based ROM and the solution is to flash a working touchwiz rom, get a gps lock and then flash the other ROM. Beyond that, I can't say why you are having an issue, I have been on almost every rom now and can always get GPS lock... Battery life can be helped on any ROM by flashing a kernel and changing settings that favor battery life. Personally I have found a good combination with PAC man ROM and Plasma Kernel.
