Need some advice on rooting
Hello I just got my first smartphone it's a Verizon s3 with 4.1.2. I am wanting to root to allow me to connect ps3 controllers by Bluetooth. I don't particularly care to put different kernels or roms(yet at least) and am just looking to get root the simplest way. The one thing I read about is that 4.2 will give you a feature to stream your screen wirelessly to your TV. That would be something I would love to be able to do. It sounded like they don't have adapters for regular TVs yet however. Is there a stock verzion of 4.2?
I am reasonable good with my computer but have never messed with android. Some of these methods seem fairly complicated. Can I still use method 1 with this version of android? I would also like to be able to back up my phone completely. Can I do that just with method 1. I thought this one seemed pretty straight forward (Had to delete link because it's my first post it was for xda I'll post it later I guess). I would just do the first step I guess.
So in Summary I would like to:
1. Root so I can use my ps3 controller
2. Back up my phone setup
3. Be able to still update my phone through Verizon? and keep root?
4. Maybe remove some of the bloatware
5. Maybe put 4.2 on so I can stream my screen to TV wirelessly. If possible yet
6. Maybe in the future try out some other roms and what not(I don't have a real good idea of what all the different roms do)
I'm looking for a simple way to get started basically and would like to hear your advice/suggestions about what I do. Thanks in advance you all seem to be incredible helpful from reading through this thread.
